Love the Hair You Wear {Event Recap}

Hey Cuties, My Hump Day Wednesday is jammed packed with things to do. I fly out to the New Orleans for the Essence Festival in the morning.  I’ve done all the laundry in the house, I’ve been cleaning and packing and cleaning off the DVR and about fifty other things. I always feel like I have time to do this and that and then I’m always in a rush. I will be posting to social media {Twitter, IG, FB & Snap} the entire time so make sure you take the trip with me. Hello, the ultimate #FatSnacks.

National Sunglasses Day

Hey Cuties, I hope you enjoyed your weekend. Mine was full but it was good. Friday the kids had their own social activities so I enjoyed the silence at home. I also managed to finish up a DIY I've wanted to share with you for at least a month now.  It isn't that labor intensive; I've just not made time to do it.  Saturday we attended a wedding and had a great time. Babe and I got all dressed up and color coordinated and stuff. Shout out to Mr. & Mrs. Pulos. Sunday I covered an event in the city {recap coming} then went to a cookout. Hello summer! This week is going to be a full one but it is going to be amazing, why? Because I'm black and real and magical and Jesse Williams told me so.

Dear Dad, I have Daddy Issues

Hey Cuties, Last weekend the family and I took a road trip to North Carolina. I wasn’t sure if this was a trip I wanted to take; I hadn’t been there in eleven years. The last time I went it was out of obligation a bit. I had been a year prior to bury my uncle and I was about six month pregnant with my first child. The family was so excited to see me and excited to see that I was going to be a Mom. So I returned a year later with my eleven month old son for a visit.

United State of Women Summit, Dopest Day Ever #StateofWomen

Hey Cuties, When I say Tuesday, June 14th was the most epic ever that is barely scratching the surface on what I mean. I watched my first born receive certificates for his academic excellence, we received a parent award and my kid say good-bye to Elementary School. I was proud, I'm sure I walked around with my chest poked out a bit. After his ceremony I high tailed it to the city. I've spent the past eight years wanting to be in the presence of the POTUS and the FLOTUS. Every year I try to get into the Easter Egg Roll and every year I get rejected. I'm an avid Target shopper and so is the FLOTUS but I've yet to see her at her favorite Target.

Tech & Travel at the Willard InterContinental #TNTDC

Hey Cuties, I think I told you my week was full and we have a road trip coming up for the weekend. Followed up with Father's Day; I hope you make time to celebrate the Father in your life. I took the kid's card shopping last week so they are ready. They spend a large amount of time in the card section selecting the right one. This just lets me know that I'm raising them right. I'm so particular about my cards, and they are the same way. Monday I hung out at the famous Willard InterContinental on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, DC.

Richard Wright Black Tie Gala Recap

Hey Cuties, Last Saturday I got all cute and stepped out on the town solo. You know I do that from time to time, it builds character. That night I attended the Richard Wright 5th Annual Black Tie Gala at the Warner Theater in Washington, DC.  This was a fundraising event for the Richard Wright Public Charter School for Journalism and Media Arts. I so wish they were around when I was in High School, the name alone has MimiCuteLips written all over it.  One of the several celebrity hosts was none other than the extremely fine and talented Omari Hardwick who just so happens to be the star of the hit show POWER on Starz; more on that in a bit.

The Roots Picnic Recap & Festival Tips

Hey Cuties, Babe and I finally went to the 9th Annual Roots Picnic; we've talked about going to the Roots Picnic for years. This year we finally made it and I don't plan on ever going back. The Roots Picnic is a musical festival held in Philly each year at Festival Pier. They have a full slate of artist that play on three different stages all day long. The Roots are a hip hop/neo-soul band from Philly, that was formed in the late 80's.  The Roots have a very eclectic hip-hop style. If you are unfamiliar with urban culture they are the house band for The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.

Six Flags SUPERMAN Ride of Steel Virtual Reality Coaster Recap

Hey Cuties, Friday is here and let me tell you, I've got the laughter you're in need of. Gut busting laughter even. A couple days ago I attended my first media event with Six Flags. They were debuting their new SUPERMAN Ride of Steel Virtual Reality Coaster. Don't be misled by the name this is an actual roller coaster you ride, so it is reality + virtual reality. This is not a simulator what so ever. Full Disclosure:  I've not been on a roller coaster in 15 years, FIFTEEN YEARS!

DIY Father’s Day Canvas

Hey Cuties, June is here and that means graduations, weddings and Father's Day. We will be celebrating all of those this month with family and friends. My boy is up next, middle school here he comes. At the same time I'm getting ready for Father's Day. Men get a bad rap; some deserve it and others not so much. Mother's Day is like a week-long event and Father's Day is like a ten minute event. For the past 12 years I've made sure Father's Day was a big deal in our home; even when Babe only wanted to work in the garage. I couldn't do it without him and I want him to know he is needed, wanted and appreciated.

#XFINITYMoms Appy Hour Event Recap

Hey Cuties, I've survived the weekend and boy was it a busy one. I snapped a good amount of it so if you follow me on Snap Chat {mimicutelips} then you know where I was and what I was doing. Last week I hung out with the fine folks of Comcast to discuss their XFINITY products with some other dope Mommy Bloggers. In my home we watch more TV than most. I know that is a topic that is heavily debated; for me there is no debate. You aren't the boss of me.
