Hey Cuties,
Friday has rolled back around again and this one is the birthday edition. On Tuesday, I made my 37th solar return, I know you’re all like but you look so young; you couldn’t possibly be 37. I know right, girl I moisturize and stuff plus this pretty brown is golden honey. I had a chilled-out day planned and I was looking forward to it. There won’t be another turn up until 40. Babe took the day off and joined me, we decided on pizza and a movie.
A new pizza spot opened in Arlington, VA and I didn’t even know. My #FatSnacks radar is in the shop because it is clearly malfunctioning. I was invited to a complimentary visit to take in the experience. Boy, did I time this one right. I knew it was a pizzeria but I didn’t research it prior to my visit.
1000 Degrees is comfortably located on Columbia Pike in Arlington, Virginia. If you know the area, they are located across from The Broiler.
If you cook it faster, you can eat it faster.
You select everything you want to go on your pizza starting with the sauce. It is the Chipotle of pizza.
The owner got in on the action and helped get the party started. They use authentic Neapolitan dough and the recipe dates back more than 100 years from the Campania region of Italy.
You can choose from some premade options or make your own. I selected my sauce, I went for two types of cheese, I selected my meats and I added one veggie. They have more than 50 toppings that range from the traditional tomatoes, mozzarella, pepperoni and garlic to thinly sliced rib eye, grilled chicken, pineapple, jalapeno, banana peppers, bleu cheese, a smoky bourbon barbecue sauce and more. They have a variety of fresh and high-quality ingredients to include artisan-made cheeses and imported meats.
They put my pizza into an authentic Neapolitan oven, that quickly cooks the pizza on very high heat. This custom-made oven is 7,000-pounds. WHOA! It has a rotating platform on the inside that cooks your pizza in two minutes. TWO MINUTES!
While my pizza was cooking, I chopped it up with the owner a bit. 1000 Degrees has been open for a week. We chatted about the neighborhood, the foot traffic, the grand opening, you know business stuff. I wanted to know how things were going thus far.
Let me tell you something, it was hard to snap pictures because it was so freaking delicious. I went for a Smoky Bourbon BBQ sauce, shredded mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, chicken, bacon and red onions. She did that!
This is a 10-inch pizza and it is cut into 6 slices. The prices range from $8/$9.00. The 14-inch ranges from $15/$17.00, not bad at all.
Because I wanted to have the full experience I custom created one and selected one from the menu. The Meatza has marinara, mozzarella, pepperoni, bacon, Italian sausage, and crumbled meatballs. Also, very delicious.
1000 Degrees is a hit and I’m looking forward to coming back. The girls and I have already planned a trip and I’ve got to bring the kids. If you are in the DC Metro area drop in for a visit. If you are outside the area, check the website for a location near you.
