In My Cup #OURPROJECT52

Week 9 has arrived and I’m still going strong with the Our Project 52 photo challenge. Three cheers for not giving up. I must say finding my perspective on each theme has been a lot of fun. Who knew right?

Week 9: In My Cup

Let me start by saying my cup runneth over. O-V-E-R! Lately I’ve felt a bit overwhelmed, I’m not sure why exactly. I love reaching for my dreams, attending events, creating great content for my blog and custom designing sneakers for From Mi To You. We’ve have a ton of snow days in the past two weeks and my children and Babe have been home more than usual and well they run my cup over, on to the counter and down into the floor.

In My Cup this week is a lot of reflection. I’m going to become an Auntie again within the next three weeks and I’ve been helping my niece and sister get ready to have a little person in their home. Yesterday we loss a special person in our lives. He was a Minister in the church I grew up in and my nieces God Father. Our families became close when I was in Elementary School and so he was like a God Father to my sister and I as well.  He was an amazing man, very active in the community, great father and just a positive spirit. He always had an encouraging word for everyone. He watched me grow up from a little girl to a teenager that sometimes raged against the machine a little bit. He and his wife would help ease the tension between my Mom and me during those years. As teenagers we are rarely on the same page as our parents.  I would later become a young adult that was trying to find her way in life. Making decisions that would both spring me forward and set me back. It warms my soul to know he saw me as an adult with great promise. He saw my life change for the better and got to know the family I created for myself. To see me as a Mom with a great mate. He would tell me “Mish I’m proud of you.” That means the world to me now more than ever.

This was the first tea set I ever purchased.

It’s nice to have someone invest in you as a person.  To always offer up an encouraging word when you didn’t even realize you needed it. To never judge your poor decisions but cause you to think about your life and what you want out of it. The last time I went to visit him he was full of smiles. We played Phase 10 and talked junk the entire time. I won, I kicked butt. It was just good old fashion fun, it took our mind away from the real situation at hand. I will treasure that final memory for a lifetime.
