Atlanta Ultimate Women’s Expo

Hey Cuties!

My sister and I embarked on our first sister’s trip to the ATL to attend the Atlanta Ultimate Women’s Expo. The weather was perfect, the hotel location was perfect, the food was amazing and we got in a lot of things in our five day stay. So much so I have to break it up into an ATL blog series.

Part I: Atlanta Ultimate Women’s Expo  |  Part: 2: What we ate  | Part 3: What we did

Ultimate Women's Expo Atlanta 1

I didn’t have a particular agenda for the Expo but I definitely noted the speakers I wanted to hear. My sister was there specifically to connect with vendors to grow her National Retail Vendor Association. Business + Pleasure made this two day event a lot of fun.

Ultimate Women's Expo Atlanta 2

I wasn’t sure what to wear but I wanted to be comfy.

Top: Target | Skirt: Forever21  | Shoes: Target

Some of the speaker session I sat in on.

Tameka Tiny Harris

Tameka “Tiny” Harris {Singer/Grammy awarded Song Writer} formerly of Xscape and Rapper T.I’s wife. She was good, she shared her journey to Hollywood with us. She didn’t just share the high’s she shared the low’s too. I really appreciate that, sometimes we forget celebrities get told NO! That doesn’t mean give up, just means you have to pivot from your original plan of action. Following this she did a tasting of her new Tiny’s Tequila, the line was stupid so I still haven’t tasted it.

Kim Zolciak

Kim Zolciak {Reality Star} formerly of Real House Wives of Atlanta {RHOA} and currently on Don’t Be Tardy. This show follows Kim and her family, they were also filming while we were there. Kim was approached about doing the RHOA and she wasn’t sure if it was something she should do. Obviously she decided to do it and it was a big hit for her. Since then she had a wedding special where we watched her wed Atlanta Falcons player Kroy Biermann. Then they got their on reality show about their new family life. She and Nene also have a reality show airing this year.

Jasmine Guy {Singer, Actor, Dancer, Writer & Producer} most noted for her role as Whitley Gilbert on the hit show A Different World. She was my absolute favorite from both days. She was real, she was raw, she was honest and it was what my soul needed to hear. She shared so much of HER and so many of us could relate. In her mid-40’s she found herself divorced with a child and in need of a do over. She moved back home to Atlanta with her parents; it was the last place she wanted to go but her parents reminded her that they loved her and that she needed to let them help. She found her mojo again and has gone on to do bigger and better things in her career. She was a total inspiration and even did the Whitley voice. We went wild!

Wendy Williams

Wendy Williams {Talk Show Host & Producer} most noted for her crazy days in radio.  Wendy had a Top Ten List of things all Women Should Know. It was cute and the list was spot on. In no particular order it included things like having the perfect LBD {Little Black Dress}, knowing how to cook at least one good meal from scratch, a woman should have HER OWN MONEY, not to cry in the work place regarding work place issues, knowing how to nicely decline a man’s advances, and knowing how to do your own hair and basic make up. Yall already know I’m Team Wendy, I’ve been to her show like seven times and she is consistently nice.

Nene Leakes

Nene Leakes of the Real Housewives of Atlanta (RHOA), formerly on Glee and recently in Cinderella on Broadway. Out of all the speakers she had nothing empowering to share. She was messy and pretty much just took questions from the audience. The place was packed out to see her but I could have done without her.

Stephanie Mills a sanger and actress in The Wiz! This women still has her vocal chops; she effortlessly belted out a little of Ease on Down the Road and Home. She came to talk and answer questions but we couldn’t let her leave without singing something. Funny thing, I always thought she was tall and she is really short. Ha!

Trina Braxton

Trina Braxton of the reality show The Braxton’s and Toni & Tamar Braxton’s sister. If you watch the show then you know who she is. For my Cuties that don’t let me tell you a little bit. Trina spends/spent a lot of time touring with her sister Toni as her back up singer/dancer. She recently started Bar-Chix which is/was a mobile bartending company. At the expo she proudly announced that she will be opening up a store front in Atlanta very soon.  After this Trina did a tasting at her booth, the line was stupid so I didn’t bother.

There were tons of vendors but I’ve featured a few of my favorites below.

Ultimate Women's Expo Atlanta 5

Make Up Eraser had a fun booth, they have a cloth product (I purchased) that removes your make up. You wet it and wipe your make up off. No special make up remover required. I haven’t used mine yet so I can’t confirm however she did a demonstration with dried up mascara and it came off with ease.

Nene Leakes

Nene Leakes Pop Up Shop was there, in this picture her husband Greg and son Bryce were running the booth along with other staff. She had items branded with her favorite sayings she frequently uses on RHOA. For my Cuties that watch the show her friend Diana was running the booth. She was the over protective friend that didn’t like any of Nene’s new friends on her wedding special.

Nene Leakes

I love her shoe game, red bottoms are magical!

Ultimate Women's Expo Atlanta 8

Pocket Disc had these really colorful crocheted freebies Pocket Disc made in Guatemala. I purchased one for my son, they were tossing them around the Expo and it looked like a lot of fun.  They have a list of additional games you can play on their website. Yay, more fun things for my kids to fight over. 😉 This is easy to transport and wash, great for a picnic, beach or every day fun in the park or backyard.

Ultimate Women's Expo Atlanta 9

Apron Without Strings is a string less apron, which sounds hilarious but they are super cute. They look like a strapless dress at first glance. They are cute prints you would find on items in your closet. They synch at the waist with a band that feels like a headband almost. Minus the headache. They are a wipe able material and you can totally show off your personality while being cute in the kitchen.  You know, for those of you that actually like to cook.

Ultimate Women's Expo Atlanta 10

Little Rebelz Children’s Boutique was by far my most favorite vendor there. Y’all see my IG, I love to dress up my three year old in the cutest fashions.  This online boutique had adorable clothes and accessories for babies and kids. No seriously, wait until I post pics of Nori in her sunnies and skirt with pockets.

Regis Salon was one of two salons at the Expo styling and cutting hair. Free hairstyles, now that is a gem. I don’t trust folks with my natural hair so I didn’t get in the chair.  If the above goings on weren’t enough they had the following demonstrations going on during the two days.  Cooking Demonstration, Beauty Pavilion, Spring Fashion Show by Dillards, Do-It-Herself Workshops and The Hair Makeover Stage.

Overall the Ultimate Women’s Expo was a hit and I would totally come back again. They are in about ten cities I believe. The lineup of speakers and vendors vary city to city. If they are in a city near you check them out, the tickets are very affordable.

It looks like you had a great time! I just went to The Southern Woman’s Show down here in Nashville and it was like this expo, so much fun!

  2. Christy Maurer

What a fun day! I loved “Whitley” and watched A Different World faithfully! I wish I’d been there, but it’s way too far. Maybe they’ll have something similar here.

Whitley was so iconic, I love that show still today. They were traveling to several cities, I don’t know why they didn’t come to DC.

You are a conference going queen for sure. 🙂 Not sure I would have been so thrilled to see Nene Leakes. Not sure what value she could bring and then I read your comments. Same sentiments.

  12. Yona Williams

I really like your yellow outfit – it’s really cute. I didn’t know that Tiny came out with her own line of alcohol, she’s got her hand in a lot of different pots. I would have liked to have heard Jasmine Guy speak.

  13. Stacie

I went to a Expo over the weekend as well. Your expo had lots of unique booths. Looks like you got some great pics too.

  14. nadeen

WOw that is interesting about Nene segment! Her pop up shop items are funny. I see Jasmine Guy often around Atlanta. Glad Kim is doing well. I used to watch RHOA but stopped a few years back with most reality shows due to all the “drama”.

  15. Siobhan (BeFree Project)

Looks like a fun event. Looking forward to reading the post from this series.

  16. Holly

Looks like a lot of fun. I guess NeNe knew people would have a ton of questions. We have kinda seen and heard a lot of her journey already. Jasmine is a strong woman for starting over like that. Not a fan of Wendy. She was very rude to my mother once. Also Kool you got to check out different vendors.

  17. Christine @MomsNCharge

Girl..I don’t even know where to start but this looks like it was loads of fun. And let me tell you how Te Espi got me currently watching A Different World from the beginning and binging on Netflix. LOL Loved me some Whitley. And that Ms. Mills…whew! She tore it up! I’ll have to look into this for next year!

  18. Julian (@BoldFearless1)

Mimi this looks like it was AWESOME! You gotta tell a sista about these thangs…IJS. This is a reminder that some of the best years in Black entertainment were the 80’s and early 90s. I’m enjoying living vicariously through you. Looking forward to the rest of the series!

  19. Olivia

I am in Atlanta and I thought about attending this event, I didn’t in the end but I will think about it next year for sure! Looks like it was a lot of fun!
