#RunwayMoms for a Cause 2015

This event is black tie {Yall know I’m thrilled, I can’t wait to get dressed.} This year’s focus is on “Power Moms” I think I know a thing or twelve about this.  I’m always down for Mommy Power, I’m MimiCuteLips but a large part of me is simply MommyCuteLips.  RMFC was created by L~Shandi designer Lara Akinsanya.

This years event will is raising funds for the “Tigerlily Foundation”, a local non-profit.  Tigerlily Foundation educates young women about breast health and encourages healthy lifestyle.  They help improve the quality of life for young survivors and provide practical hands-on services and support during treatment.  The Tigerlily Foundation decreases disparities regardless of race, sexual orientation, religion or culture. They continue to educate, empower, advocate for and provide hands-on support to young women between the ages of 15-40 – before, during and after breast cancer.

PERSONAL COMMENTARY: My Mother and Mother-in-law are both breast cancer survivors so I’m a fan of the Tigerlily Foundation just off of their mission.  I’m a woman, I have boobs and I’m black. That means I have cause for concern for my own life as well. Black women have the highest breast cancer mortality rate according to the American Cancer Society.

Particular “Power Moms” have been invited to participate in this initiative, and will grace the runway, adorned in one of- a- kind pieces by L~Shandi Designs and a collaborating designer – Studio D’Maxsi.  The runway looks will be coupled with jewelry designs by Evelyn Brooks Designs.

The evening will begin with a cocktail reception with a live band. In addition to the runway show, there will also be raffle drawings and special performances throughout the evening.

Will you be there?
