Today is National Lipstick Day also known as MimiCuteLips Day. Duh! I wanted share some of my favorite lipsticks and show you some of my new loves. I purchased new lippies while in Miami and more recently in New York. I just might have a new favorite. Eeeek!
I will be honest, I wasn’t always into lipsticks. I only became addicted within the last year or two. I was a freshman in High School the first time I really got to wear lipstick. I had no idea what shade to get or how it would look. I wore it all the time. I also got the same color my older sister wore, Revlon, Toast of New York. The color wasn’t bad but the tragic dark lip liner I used with it was. Over the years I turned to lip gloss but I’ve found my love for lipsticks again and oddly enough I’ve quit lip gloss.
I started out with Neutrals and then ventured into colors. I would suddenly fall in love with Ruby Woo and it would become my signature lip. This blog isn’t called MimiCuteLips for anything. I was born with full lips; you know the kind folks pay big money for.
Growing up I hated them and kids teased me all the time. As I got older I learned to embrace them and branded the hell out of them. Ha, look at me now.
One of my best friends has always wanted fuller lips. Over the years she has tried a number of different makeup techniques to enhance her pout including overlining and layering her lipsticks. However, recently she has been using Xlash for your lips. My friend claims that it has made a big difference so far. Anyway, Xlash have a few different makeup products out there nowadays including their hugely popular eyelash serum so it is well worth taking a look to see if anything on their website catches your eye.
This lipstick you have to layer up for good coverage. I should have put more on here.
My cousins and I attended a wedding over the weekend. I’m rocking my signature red lip, I use a dark lip liner to give it the ombre look. My Cousin in the middle is wearing MAC Amp. My other cousin on the end is wearing MAC Honey Love. Our shoe game is strong!
Mac Stone was my most recent purchase; I don’t love it just yet. I think I might like it more in the winter. I buy colors I like but I never try them on prior to purchase.
A little fun in the hot sun at the Botanical Gardens, Washington, DC
I won’t go off about the million and two moles that I have thanks to my parents. Instead, I will say that I’ve not worn this lipstick in years. I’m going to give it for a spin; I need to do better with layering it for coverage.
I saw Fresh Brew posted on IG and had to have it. I’ve not worn it out yet but I like it a lot.
This is my favorite nude out of the bunch.
This picture is from my recent trip to New York.
My naturals all look similar to one another, I know. My neutral/nude collection is solid now. I’m going to seek out some other colors. I do have a MAC Orange somewhere, but I don’t love it. I need to find it and see if I can make it work.
