Event Alert: The Naturalista Hair Show – Sept. 27, Silver Spring, MD

Calling all Natural Cuties,

Parents of Natural Cuties, Boo’s of Natural Cuties I have the perfect event for you, I’m talking hands on classes, shopping, workshops, socializing and did I mention shopping? I am one of the Official Blogger Ambassadors for this event. This is my second year in a row. *body roll* Last year was my first time attending and I had a ball. I did a RECAP of last year’s event so you can get the feel of the experience.

After being natural for nine years I finally learned to flat twist thanks to the Naturalista Hair Show. I took the flat twisting hands on class and our teacher was the bomb. She was so nice she let us take a video so we could play it back as needed to help us. You know that means I had to share it with you.

“This expo teaches women of color how to care for their natural hair and live healthy lives while embracing the right to remain fabulous.”

Sounds like a great event. Too bad I’m not in the DMV area 🙁 look forward to your recap though!

This looks pretty awesome! Wonder if they are having one in Atlanta where I am, pretty sure they are because we have a super large naturalista community here 🙂

  8. LaShon Renee

I love a good hair show. I would definitely attend if I was in the area. We’ve been slow to get hair shows in CA but things are slowly coming along.

  9. Jaye@Curvatude

This sound like something I would really like, with lots of teaching. I am still learning to make my natural hair as fly as she can be and always interested in hearing others discuss techniques and what works for them.

  10. Valerie Robinson

I’ve heard a lot about this show but I;ve never been. Looking forward to reading your recap. PS: I still struggle with flat twist lol.

Ha, at your flat twist. Girl, I don’t know why it was so hard for me. Now I can do it on my own hair but still struggle doing it on others.

  12. Tyra

This looks like such a fun event with great information. The workshops are so diverse. Love it.

    • MimiCuteLips

I had such a great time last year. I’m looking forward to learning something new this year. I thought I would never learn to flat twist.

  13. GinaB @ Mirror Watching

I need to get out to one of these events. I’ve been natural forever and haven’t made it to any shows. This one looks like it will be great.

  14. Chasing Joy

Im sure this will be a fun event. I wish there were more healthy hair events tbat were not just for those who are natural.

    • MimiCuteLips

Chasing Joy, I only know of one off the top of my head. Uubiquitous Hair and Health Show was recently in DC and their tag line is where relaxed meets natural hair. So they infuse the two and teach you how to work with both. Oddly enough natural hair is still “new” I mean besides the fact that it grows out of our scalp. The product lines and information aren’t shared as much as relaxed hair.
