Hey Cuties,
Halloween is around the corner and I’ve been working on DIY Halloween costumes for the kids. I’m making the girl child a clown costume and Lambie from Doc McStuffins costume. This Wolf costume is for the male child. I’m also making a Monster costume for a news segment I’m participating in. I’ve made them really easy for you to follow and I give you a sew and no sew option. No creative skills required and they cost less than $15.00 to make but look like you spent much more than that. I will post them all before Halloween.
My son turns 11 next month and Halloween costumes are getting harder by the year. He isn’t a little kid but not quite a big kid. {Sings: Too high to get over yeah yeah, too low to go under, yeah yeah. Ya stuck in the middle.} He wants to look cool but not baby-ish. This costume is perfect for the pre-teen and teen. They can be original, yet cool while not doing much. Best of all it is cheap to make.
The base of this costume is a hooded sweat shirt. These are my favorite type of costumes to make. The first costume I made was an owl made from a hoodie.
Supplies: Gray hoodie, white felt, gray felt, black felt and yellow felt. If you want to sew add in some needle and thread. If you don’t want to sew add in a hot glue gun. Template HERE
I printed out the template, cut the pieces out then traced them on to my felt.
I used my stick pins to hold everything in place. This is a great way to test your placement.
I started stitching the face first, I used some black thread and did it by hand. Someone buy me a sewing machine for Christmas.
All done! It fits great and he loves it.
10/24/15 I graced the studio of WBALTV in Baltimore, MD. My segment was on *drum roll* DIY Halloween Costumes.
