Hey Cuties,

We are mid-way into the week on this fine Hump Day, hope all is well. We’ve had fall like temps in the DMV area with splashes of sunlight. I officially rocked my Uggs over the weekend and my fringe moccasins yesterday. Hello Fall, how you doing? I have 11 more days until my 36th birthday.

I mentioned the Naturalista Hair Show last month and wanted to give you a recap of this year’s event. Last year was my first time attending and I learned to flat twist. This year I tried something new and now I’m hooked.

L to R: @CurlsandCouture @HeyFranHey @ilovealimara @mycandishoppe @napturalnicole

Things kicked off with this blogger panel of amazing women. Read blogger but do hear business women. These ladies are much more than bloggers and they were sharing their experiences with us. We hear about bloggers who quit their 9 to 5 to blog full time. We hear about them making six figures but don’t know how. Everything that glitters isn’t gold.

@CurlsandCouture: Shared that after being laid off from her job she decided to do blogging full time. She is also in medical school. She kept it real and also let us know she gave her up apartment and moved back home to make her dreams come true.

@HeyFranHey: Shared that her medical troubles {kidney complications} played a huge part in her blogging full time. She found herself in the bed a lot as a result of her discomfort and blogging kept her connected with the outside world. She stays true to who she is as a person on her blog and people love her for it.

@ilovealimara: Shared her personal domestic violence story on her blog and was shocked to see the support she received. She received a message from a young lady that said her story caused her to leave her abusive situation. From then on Annisa knew she wanted to do more for her community.

@MyCandiShoppe: Shared her fears of providing for her family and running a business. She now does this full time but has to balance motherhood, a marriage and a business.

@NapturalNicole: Was the moderator but she is so dope. She recently quit her 9 to 5 live on Periscope after making six figures from blogging. She explained that she didn’t just wake up and quit. She created a place for herself to go. Lesson: Don’t quit your job without a plan. Now she teaches people how to Monetize Thyself.

Vendor: Tre Bella Wigs

I fell in love with the wig in the middle. I’m not a wig girl but I’m trying to grow out my hair and I want to be cute while I do so.

Hair Salon

You could also get your hair styled, from flat twist, to bantu knots, to extensions, to a being set on rollers. These ladies were styling folks up; great service at a discounted price. If I had known I would have brought Nori to get her hair done. That would’ve saved me 3hrs of my Sunday.

Nail & Massage Station

It was a packed house. Discussion would take place on the stage. You could listen while getting your nails done. You could get a massage and zone out from all the noise around you. You could shop, shop, and shop some more.

Men’s Perspective Panel

Ladies the things we worry and care about are NOT the same things our men care about. Stop getting on his nerves about something he isn’t worried about.

Hair & Fashion

The fashion and the hair game will keep your head on a swivel. Kriss Mincey {R} of the Artreprenuer ™ sang her face off. She was also the Naturalista Hair Show model from last year. I’ve been stalking following her on IG ever since.

Myself and these dope Cuties got Henna tattoos. This was a first for me and I totally loved it. After having to be still so it could dry.
