Hey Cuties,
I’m taking a break from my Halloween talk; to share the #SOARRetreat with you. The Retreat took place Oct. 16-18 at the Trump National Doral Resort in Miami, Florida. The weather was pretty decent, the venue was stunning and the speakers were really inspiring. I have implemented some things that I’ve learned already but I still have a lot more work to do.
Miami is always a good time every time I go and this time was no different. This was the first time I’d ever stayed at a Trump property. Let me just say I would stay there every single chance I get. I’m talking high class every step of the way. The customer service was like none I’ve ever experienced. I am so cut out for this life.
The SOAR Retreat was a Steve Harvey event and it falls under his Act Like a Success conference series. I went with an open mind and no expectations. I wasn’t sure what the experience would be like but I knew I couldn’t wait to hear from Steve Harvey and I couldn’t wait to see his wife Marjorie Harvey and undefeated retired professional boxer Laila Ali.
The mood of the room was very warm and inviting. It always had very soft lighting which fit the feel of the event but was horrible for selfies. lol
Doreen talked to us about our Power to SOAR: We all need to know the basics of our SOAR. Do this quick exercise to help you gain clarity. In order for me to SOAR: I have to start… I have to stop… I have to continue…
I was looking forward to seeing Laila but I wasn’t sure what she would talk about. As you know Laila is the daughter of legendary boxer Muhammad Ali and is a four-time undefeated boxing world champion; 24 wins (21 “knockouts”) and zero losses she is the most successful female in the history of women’s boxing. She shared her life story and how she got to where she is now. Fun Fact: Growing up she played no sports and her father is not the person that inspired her to get into boxing.

Back Row L to R: Pam {Koils by Nature}, Patrice Washington {Speaker && Money Maven}, Christine {MomsNCharge} Front Row L to R: Faye {Faye Factor} & Mi {MimiCuteLips}
I told you the lighting was horrible for selfies but we still took them.
This woman here is hilarious and she has twin babies at home. Ali is all about empowering women entrepreneurs around the world. She shared with us 3 Simple Things to Do to Make the Change You Want: 1. Believe in you. 2. Give yourself permission. 3. Inspire others {this will happen no matter what.}
I had on flats and she had on heels. I look so short.
This man right here has forever changed my life. He gave me permission to be me, to not dim my light for others and to believe the power of my imagination. “Imagination is EVERYTHING; it is the preview to life’s coming attractions.” – Steve Harvey
I just wanted to see this woman in person. She is so beautiful, she is so freaking stylish and I just want to see what her closet really looks like. She talked to us about her story, how she met Steve and what life is like as a blended family. I was listening with my chin in my hands.
She kept it real with us and I loved that. Of course she would, she is married to Steve Harvey. I loved the Marjorie was so open with us; it was straight up girl talk. “Each one of us comes from something that has been broken.” – Marjorie Harvey Fun Fact: She doesn’t have or use a stylist, all this fab-ness is all her.
I love meeting new people; Martine was such a sweetie when she introduced herself. It is great to connect online but even better to meet in person.
Excuse my get up, it was my birthday. This beautiful man right here is Paul C. Brunson. I met him at Blogalcious this year and I was a fan instantly. His energy is electric and he is a cutie. Paul spoke to us about relationships, y’all he dropped some serious jewels. This could be romantic relationships, business relationships or friendships. NOTES: Vulnerability is the prerequisite to love. The wider your social circle, the more opportunities you will get. Obstacles determine if someone is a good match/fit for us. Your values play out in your actions. You must act them out over time.
Your true personality is who you are when you are around your family and friends.” – Paul C. Brunson
I told y’all meeting folks online is great but meeting them in person is where it’s at. Vashti is such a sweetheart, we clicked immediately and went to lunch together.
I love a small yet mighty woman that is exactly what Patrice Washington is. Prior to the event I didn’t know much about her. Now I want her to be my best friend. If you listen to the Steve Harvey Morning Show then you’ve heard her answer money questions. Not only is she smart she is fun as hell, y’all down I love a down to earth personality. Patrice knows her stuff but she will have you cracking up laughing while getting your financial affairs in order. “Becoming wealthy has 100% nothing to do with money. Becoming wealthy has 100% EVERYTHING to do with you and your mindset towards money.” – Patrice Washington
I’m so thankful for the opportunity to attend the SOAR Retreat it was just what I needed; even if I didn’t know I needed it. More on the rest of the Miami experience is on the way. You know we have to dish about the resort, food and the fun that was had outside of the conference.

You always know how to rock a tutu and sneaks! I bet it was fun meeting some of our BBL girls. How cool is that!

Oh M Geeee, great opportunity, great people and great location. That definitely is the picture of perfection. I’m so glad you got to me some awesome people and build new relationships. That’s what it’s about. Did Marjorie, share and styling tips?_would love to know
Thanks Josselyne, she didn’t really share styling tips. What she did say is if she puts a piece on and loves the way it looks on her then she is wearing it. She doesn’t believe in something being to old or young for someone. If you feel good in it WEAR IT!
Wow, Laila is gorgeous and oh so TALL! LOoks like a great event for you all!
Cubs she really is.
What a fantastic retreat! It looks like you had a great time and met some outstanding people!

Thanks, it was really dope to just be in the same room. Meeting online face is always a good time.

You’re welcome Nicole, it was simply amazing.

Oh Jennifer his delivery of this very real and inspirational information is HILARIOUS. We were doubled over with laughter.
Yaassssss! I’m soooo glad I was able to attend the retreat because there were so many nuggets I took away. Seriously an amazing weekend. And let me tell you, Patrice is my boo. I love her to the moon and back, so real and such a delight!
Thanks for sharing, it was amazing for sure. Patrice is going to be my boo, I just know it. hahahaha
Sounds like a great event. I’d love to hear Lala and Patrice speak.
For now you can follow Patrice on Periscope. She is on there sharing great information on a regular basis.
Looks like a nice event. Im glad the Trump hotel was great; I have really wondered if they were or not. I love what you quoted about starting, then stopping…
Alexandria, Trump more than lived up to the image I had in mind. Make sure you make your list of things to start, stop and continue.
So jealous when I saw you all there! A couple of non-blogger friends of mine were in Miami that same weekend too so I was super jealous. Looked like an amazing event!
Awww man, you should have jumped right on the next flight. It was such a good time.
O…M…G!!! Now this looks totally fab and I feel the energy on the wealth of info you’re sharing here from the event in just reading this. It’s so really cool to see you take pics with blogger/mommies that yes we all do connect with online. Nothing beats offline gatherings live and in person. Thanks so much for sharing this. Totally wish I was there to attend. I feel the energy girl!!! POWERFUL.
I hope they take this show on the road. I will let you know if they do. It was my duty to bring back some tidbits to share with my Cuties. There is room for us all to reach the top. 😉
That is interesting that it wasn’t her father who inspired her to get into boxing! It’s funny how we make assumptions so quickly, isn’t it? 🙂
I totally agree Rosey; she saw women boxing on Floyd Mayweather’s undercard and decided to join the sport.
Miami is always a good time! This is a very inspiring post! It looks like a great event filled with motivating and powerful women. Majorie Harvey is a fashion icon in my book! I would love to attend the next SOAR Retreat.
Shawana, Marjorie Harvey is EVERY-THANG! He winning personality is the just the icing on the cake. I need her to adopt me.
Looks like a really great event Mimi and I love your takeaways and your cute tutu 😉

Thanks Joanna it really is, I am feeling these a little more than blogging conferences.
