YouTube Creator Day D.C.

Hey Cuties,

How was the weekend? Mine was pretty good, we spent Saturday getting in the holiday mood with Macy’s. Sunday I spent the day shopping for my kids that won’t stop growing. No seriously, my son turns 11 tomorrow and he just isn’t my little boy anymore. The girl child is supposed to be three but she is more like sixty-three.

YouTube Creator Day 1

Friday I spent the day at the Google office in Washington, D.C.. It was the dopest office I’ve ever visited; everything about it was cutting edge and uber creative. Google has been hosting YouTube Creator Days in a variety of cities. I’ve been blogging or five years now, but I’m new to being a content creator on YouTube. This is my big coming out party. {Tosses hot pink lips and black & white confetti}

YouTube Creator Day 2

I love the Hollywood life and I have for many years. I love to chit chat about the latest celebrity comings and goings, TV news, World News, trending topics and more. For the past month you can catch me on Periscope a couple days a week doing what I call the Entertainment Wrap Up. Videos are only view able on Periscope for 24hrs so I download them to YouTube to give them life after.

MimiCuteLips Entertainment Wrap Up

For me this means I want my channel to look good, I want to create quality videos, I want to make sure people are watching and I want it to be successful.

YouTube Creator Day 3

I told you this place was cool

TIP: Post your YouTube videos at least three days a part. This allows each one to get maximum viewership.

YouTube Creator Day 5

I had to capture the moment…

  1. 80% of YouTube views are outside of the US. {Keep that in mind when creating content.}
  2. Upload on a schedule
  3. Capitalize on trending topics {Valuable resource HERE}
  4. Use royalty free music to stop your videos from being claimed by music companies.
  5. Enticing thumbnails help viewership
YouTube Creator Day 4

Hers & His

I’m an iPhone User but I was in an Android land and I was alright with it. The bathroom signs were really cute.

YouTube Creator Day 6

Because full length mirrors.

I’ve never seen a mirror I didn’t like. This full length mirror in the ladies room was just asking for a picture. Tee: {MimiCuteLips} Sweater: {Nordstrom Rack, Miami, FL} Jeans: {JCP} Boots: {Frye}

YouTube Creator Day 8

YouTube Team

The YouTube team was amazing, they really rolled out the red carpet for us. They answered question after question and shared a lot of great information with us.

I’ve been wanting to MAYBE get into you tube more. I’m thinking it might be on my agenda for 2016. I want to visit the google office so bad! Who am I kidding, I want to work there LOL

    • MimiCuteLips

Girl, my boyfriend kept texting me while I was there asking for a job. The place is so cool, it is an experience for sure.

I say go for it in 2016.

  2. Jennifer Bay

Wow what a great post! Being a Youtuber myself, I would have loved to have been able to do that! Thanks for the great tips 🙂

  3. Kimberly

Wow! This post is awesome. I only use YouTube for watching my favorite bloggers. My husband said I need to start making YouTube videos. I’m going to save up for a great camera. Thanks #brownbloglove

  4. Christine @MomsNCharge

This looks like it was such an awesome event! I wasn’t sure if it would be useful for a newbie like myself. I still haven’t been on YouTube, but maybe it’s time for me to start adding my Periscope videos there as well. And this last picture…oh my, so much curly love! So dope!

    • MimiCuteLips

I was worried that I would get lost in a sea of experts. Oddly enough I didn’t, I was able to get some solid action items to get me going. One step at a time.

Curl the natural love was on 5000.

  5. kita

I have a channel but I am never on there. Now periscope has something called katch which saves videos for you to share or embed. I like the editing capability of youtube though.

    • MimiCuteLips

Thanks Kita, I capture them on Katch as well. A time of two they didn’t “catch” my entire video. That is how I ended up on YouTube.

  6. Robin Rue (@massholemommy)

I need to get into the whole vlogging thing. I hate the sound of my voice, though, so I rarely make videos unless it’s required by sponsors.

  7. Stacie @ Divine Lifestyle

That must have been a fantastic event. I’ve been thinking about doing more video, and I’m sure being at this event would have helped me a lot.

  8. Bernetta

Man! I would love something like that here in GA. I want to do better videos as well so this would have been perfect. Maybe they will come to Atl soon, if Ihaven’t missed it.

    • MimiCuteLips

Bernetta, it was very technical but helpful. As bloggers we have a leg up because we already know the importance of titles and SEO. Editing is what I don’t know.

  9. Cia

I love this Mimi! I think I have made all of TWO youtube videos. They were a review and an introduction. I wish I was not so shy. I would be all over the site.

    • MimiCuteLips

Thanks Cia, this might be a great way for you to come out of your shell a bit. You are in total control of how and what you want to share. Sounds like a goal for 2016. 😉

  10. Jeanette

I have made a few You tube videos, but I am always tweaking it because it needs to look new and fresh all the time. Looks like you had an awesome time there! Next time I am packing myself in your suitcase!

  11. Sarh S

Looks like a fun and very helpful event. I will keep these things in mind for my future Youtube videos.

  12. Life as a Convert (@LifeAsAConvert)

I am a youtuber also.. Tho my channel is still quite small (only 500 subscribers).. I am slowly learning how to grow my channel. I’d love to attend an event like this and get more tips.

  13. Antoinette

Looks like you had an awesome time. I will be passing this info on to a friend of mine who’s a budding You-Tuber.

  14. Nancy Laws

How fun! You look like you had a blast. I love discovering events for bloggers, etc and this is my first time hearing about this…sounds like everything good happens in DC there is nothing here 🙁

  15. FabEllis

Wow! What an amazing opportunity. First of all, your outfit is too cute. Second… LOL! Their office does look so cool. I do have a YouTube channel, but I don’t nearly use it as often as I should. I have been trying to use it more and I’ve done a lot better. This gave me a boost to keep going! Glad to see so many faces I know in that group shot.

  16. Liz Mays

They had some awesome advice to share. It’s so cool that you were able to attend this YouTube Creator day! It sounded really fun and helpful!

  17. Bree

What a cute workshop! I don’t use youtube to disseminate content but it is interesting to know these tips. Especially that 80% of YouTube views are outside of the US! That is invaluable information!

  18. Miles L.

I always think how it is like to be in the office of YouTube. Thanks for the tour. 🙂

  19. AC

This looked like so much fun and I learned a lot from this that I can apply to my own blog. Thanks for the facts and tips!

  20. Tyra

Kudos to you guys that do videos. I can barely even make myself Periscope, let alone have a YouTube channel. Awesome!

  21. Wood Arts Universe

Oh, I like the event you’re in. I hope there’s an event like that here too. I like the android stuffs on the first picture. Are those swags? 🙂

  22. Dogvills

I wish I could visit Google in DC, too. I wish I am not too shy to make videos.

    • MimiCuteLips

I’m not shy, I was just unsure of what I would say or do on there. Maybe start out with the dog in the park. Make it about the dog and not you, then ease into the mix.

  23. Jesica H

You get to see and do so many fun and awesome things! These are really good tips for you tube! I had no idea that that many non us views there were!

  24. lisa

I honestly don’t use You Tube that often. I think my kids use it more often than I do, which is quite sad!

  25. Chrystal | Nevermore Lane

What a fun event. My YouTube account is so old I can remember when the site first launched, too. I have some YT folks I have been following for ages. Sure has changed over the years.

  26. ricci

I have been wanting to get more into Youtube but it seems so intimidating! LOL! I love that you got to go to this event and learn and see some really cool things!

  27. Ann Bacciaglia

Thanks for sharing these tips. YouTube is something I feel I need to explore more, Im bookmarking this post for when I do.

  28. Chubskulit Rose

Youtube is such a great avenue to promote stuf but I don’t utitilize it much when it comes to promoting my blogs. Maybe it is time.

  29. Shaney Vijendranath

You like wrote this post the perfect time for me. My husband and daughter will be doing toy reviews on YouTube. Thanks for the tips!

  30. Sicorra@NotNowMomsBusy

I have never heard of that place, but so exciting that you got to go check it out. Good luck with your Youtube videos too.

  31. Ron

One of my friends really wanted to start doing YouTube or video blogging. This kind of event could help her start at the right path.

  32. Bonnie @wemake7

This is really great. I’m on youtube but not much. Will have to start being on there more.

  33. Jessica Simms

I have been wanting to get into doing youtube videos for years! I for some reason have camera shy issues but how to get over that. I have always seen so many successful bloggers like yourself do so well, it really inspires me to just try to atleast take that first step.

  34. CourtneyLynne

Ahhhh I use to be so scared of video and then I tryied periscope and I’m now obsessed! I just wish YouTube wasn’t so edited or else I would totally have a channel!

  35. Rosey

Youtube is a great way to make extra money I’ve heard. It’s nice that you’re sharing tips on how to do the youtubing right. 🙂

  36. Tatanisha Pitts-Worthey

I’ve always wanted to visit the Google office! I wish I’d get an invite one day!
