Nori Turns 4 : Minnie Mouse Party Style

Hey Cuties,

We are back at the half way point of the week. Did you knock some things of your to do list? Do you have any plans for the three day weekend? Are you volunteering for the day on not a day off for MLK Day? Are you clubbing? Staying inside to fight with the kids since school is closed? What is on the agenda? Yesterday was Nori day, my girl finally turned 4; she has been waiting for a long time. Especially when you don’t have a true concept of dates and time. It was a Minnie Annie type of day that went a little something like this…

Last year I planned out Nori’s birthday in my mind and once I shared it with her she was NOT on board. She ended up planning her own birthday party.  This year I went about things a bit differently. We don’t do birthday parties every year, we celebrate them all but big parties are for big milestones.  Next year she turns 5 and we turn all the way up, she has already decided on the party theme. She is so my child.

Mickey Mouse & Friends Cricut Cartridge

She wanted a Minnie Mouse Theme okay boom I can handle that. Now that Nori is in daycare we planned to celebrate with her friends in class. I got a bomb deal on a Mickey Mouse & Friends Cricut Cartridge. Original Price $50 Paid Price: $17 {Insert body roll here} I used the cartridge to print out the silhouettes. While this is a Minnie party, I can’t forget about the boys.

Minnie Mouse Party 2

Nori is a gal in charge and totally knows what she wants; I frequently refer to her as an old lady for this very reason. We decided on this outfit last month so we knew what she would wear. However we hadn’t discussed hair, my girl is obsessed with Annie {the black version} I mean watch it over and over and over and over again obsessed. With this known obsession it was no surprise when she requested “Annie Hair”. Annie has naturally curly hair but it is cold it is winter and Nori can’t do wet hair this time of year. I braided her hair up the night before and took it out in the morning so it would be crinkly. She was please and it was cute. I added in a small top knot in the front so it wasn’t in her face and finished it off with this Minnie Bow she already owned.

Daycare table set up

I am the over the top attention to detail party planner. I’m a Craft Queen and I want to D.I.Y. everything. I had to keep reminding myself that this is not a party. Babe also kept telling me I was doing the most. {eye roll} I can’t help myself. Now I have a bunch of things to return because I stuck to not doing the most this time around. I placed the above silhouettes on the table.  Babe picked up a bundle of balloons to go with the theme. I wanted polka dot but they didn’t have any. #Fail

The kids were fresh off of nap time so they were ready to go. When my girl woke up she was so thrilled to see us waiting for her.

The Gang is all here

Nori talks about her friends all the time, she was thrilled to celebrate four with all of them. Don’t we look festive and cute?

Push Up Cake Pops

Only I wait until the day of the party to try a new treat. I’m officially hooked on these push up cake pops. I will share the tutorials really soon. This was my first go at it, the more I did the better I became. I made these using an whoppie pie pan. Next time I will try them with just a flat cake sheet pan and cutting the shapes out myself. Not bad for my first time and they were a total hit with the kids. SCORE! #FatSnacks

Minnie Mouse Party 9

Duck, Duck, Goose

After all that cake the kids worked off the calories playing a game of Duck, Duck, Goose. Yes Babe got in the circle and ran around. hahahaha

What is a party without music… I’ll let you judge for yourself. Babe took this selfie video while “dancing” with the kids.
Later that evening we headed to our local Red Robin for dinner with the family. Nori had an amazing 4th birthday celebration. She and I are already planning for 5.

What an amazing celebration! I love the way yout executed her vision. Your meticulous attention to detail shows because the party was very well put together. The push cake pops seems petter for children but I think adults would enjoy them too.

I’m sure she won’t forget this because some of my fondest memories are my mom’s visit to my classroom when I was young. She would always bring cupcakes and complete a craft activity with the class. Afterward we would go to lunch just she and I; I loved it.

Tia I totally think the adults would love them as well. I look forward to making them again.

Oh Tia I love that, I will keep that in mind for sure.

I go back and forth on whether to have a full blown birthday party each year.
Next year, when our son is 6 I want to do something very scaled back. Maybe a dinner with a few of his friends.

    • MimiCuteLips

Joyce my kids enjoy dinner with family just the same. I want them to look forward to the big parties but celebrating small for others.
