#FATSNACKSFRIDAY: Chicken, Bacon & Cinnamon Waffles

Happy #FATSNACKS Friday! I’ve been sitting on this for over a week and I’m bursting at the seams to share. First, let me say I love when people get me; that is what makes you my people. People send, tag and call to tell me about all things Converse, I customize Converse sneakers and I’ve a huge fan of the brand. Lips, for obvious reasons and food. Yasss my inner fat girl celebrates with ice cream whenever someone sends something food related. I mean those are the rules. This #FATSNACK idea is thanks to a pin The Style Medic sent me. It was pure deliciousness but I had to twerk it to my taste buds.

Before I dive into this one, please note that I’ve twerked out at the gym twice this week and I plan to go again tomorrow.

Chicken & Waffles have been a thing since people made them a thing. I wasn’t a fan immediately {full disclosure} because I hadn’t fallen in love with the waffle. Look ya’ll I was a pancake and French toast type of gal. It took me a long time to get there, but I’m proud to say I’ve arrived. In honor of this come to Jesus moment my sister gave me a waffle maker for Christmas. Praise the lord saints, for without it this post may not be possible.

Ingredients: Waffle Mix – Vanilla Extract – Cinnamon – Syrup – Bacon – Chicken

You can do this in the order of your choice, I will tell you the order I went with.

Fry up the bacon in a pan {You can do turkey bacon or no bacon at all but it might be a bit sad.}

While my bacon is cooking I’ve already seasoned {This time I only used seasoning salt} and floured my bird. Now it is ready to go into the grease. NOTE: You can purchase the fried chicken of your choice {No judgement} or you can fry up the bird like thine-self. I went for chicken strips because they cook easy and if you wanted to make a waffle, bacon & chicken sandwich you totally could with ease.

My bacon is done and I lay it on a paper towel on a plate to the side. The paper towel is absorbing any leftover grease.

While my bird is frying I went ahead and made my Waffle Mix according to the box.  I added in a pinch of vanilla extract and cinnamon. {substitute for flavors of your choice.}  Then get your waffle making on. NOTE: If you aren’t ready to plate your waffles just yet place them in the oven on 280 to keep them warm without burning them.

Once my waffles were done {they made the house smell so good} I split them into quarters.

Plating your food is easy I simply layered my bacon with my waffles and put my chicken in the middle.

I finished it off with some maple syrup.

This one is really easy and you can change up the flavors for a different taste. This meal can be eaten at any time of the day, but for whatever reason it taste a little bit better when you eat it late at night. I’m just saying! If you haven’t found your love for the waffle, you can easily make this with French toast or pancakes. The name won’t flow the same but the taste will be equally delicious.

A slight spin on the classic Chicken & Waffles. Here we have Chicken Bacon & Cinnamon Waffles

    There was a restaurant near my daughter’s college that had been serving chicken and waffles since the 1940s! It got me hooked on it, but since she doesn’t live in St. Louis anymore, I will have to make my own so I can enjoy some.
