I decided to change things up a bit today. I take tons of pictures; I have my entire life in film since I was in High School. That is when I fell in love with the camera; I’m talking 110 camera with a flash cube love. Since having children I’ve become even worse, I have their entire life documented in pictures. Babe will humor me every now and again but he isn’t really about this life.
I have several pictures that I’ve taken and shared on social media and some I’ve taken and not shared. There is a lot of talk about what we share and portraying this Polly perfect life and such. Let me just go ahead and tell you that I don’t believe that. I don’t scroll time lines and think oh so and so is perfect. Nope, I don’t. So scroll on as I share the story behind the image.
Every now and again the sun and the spring weather makes a cameo and when it does I try to be ready. So I put on my favorite big bow glasses and roam around DC at lunch time.
Most of my weekends consist of these two. I drag them from store to store and get our errands done. They are smiling all cute and stuff but they had been fussing with each other all day.
What good is having a daughter if you can’t dress a like. We are usually Chuck Taylor down and this day was no different. She went with me to the dentist and it was raining so we have on our rubber Converse.
I’ve been heavy into wood for a minute, I got Babe this wooden bow tie for Christmas. I ordered it from a cute shop on Etsy. This was the first time he wore it so I had to get a picture. My girl wouldn’t allow me to take a picture of her Dad unless she was in it.
It is spirit week at school and my Man-Child was excited about Nerd Day. He already knew he wanted to go for the Steve Urkel look. Lucky for him he has me as a mom. He already had his nerd glasses and I re purpose these red suspenders from my daughters clown costume. I picked up this plaid top on our Target run. I love the way it all came together.
When Babe tells you your child needs to dress “Egyptian” for school tomorrow. You have no real prep time and you just have to make it work somehow some way. This beautiful collar and headband was printed from the net on heavy card stock paper. Then I stayed up to the crack of dawn coloring it in with marker. I’m OCD so you know I was real meticulous with it. It came out much better than I ever thought it could. She was a hit at school.
I took this picture when I arrived in NYC at midnight. I had flat twist under there and I looked crazy. I didn’t want to take them out just yet so I wrapped my head up and took a road trip. Wraps keep me cute while my hair gets ready only to be cute again. Find out why I was in NYC HERE.
I snapped a picture of my daughter teaching herself how to do sign language. We keep this print out on the refrigerator and she pulls it down from time to time and practices her letters. I freaking love it, I hope she stays that way forever.
Yup, I am that kind of parent. My kids are silly and well they get it honest. My son loves to do silly things like this when I request to take his picture. On this day while out running errands I decided to give him a dose of his own medicine.
I am that Mom that picks her battles. Someday I give my kids creative control over what they wear, most days I don’t. Whenever my daughter asks to where a tutu I always say yes. I mean come on, it is a tutu how can you say no. After getting dressed she decided she wanted to bring her phone. Sure no problem, I thought she was just going to play with it. Nope, she was going to wear not one but two of them. I took her to the dentist with me dressed like this. She was so cute I had to snap her picture, everyone in the dentist office loved her look. hahaha
I’m an everyday gal that does everyday things. I just wanted to give you a look behind the scenes.
