#XFINITYMoms Appy Hour Event Recap

Hey Cuties,

I’ve survived the weekend and boy was it a busy one. I snapped a good amount of it so if you follow me on Snap Chat {mimicutelips} then you know where I was and what I was doing. Last week I hung out with the fine folks of Comcast to discuss their XFINITY products with some other dope Mommy Bloggers. In my home we watch more TV than most. I know that is a topic that is heavily debated; for me there is no debate. You aren’t the boss of me.

Disclosure: I was invited to attend this dope #XFINITYMoms event and I received a free gift bag and tablet. As always, all thoughts and opinions are all mine. I shan’t tell a lie.

Food is the way to my heart.

Cheese, crackers, fruit, veggies, chicken & shrimp. Okay!

Festive #FatSnacks – They spoke my love language

They showed us two big components of the Comcast product line; the X1 platform which is cable and the XFINITY Home system. I already have the X1 platform so I was well versed in that arena; or so I thought. They put me on to some features I didn’t know about. Why? Because nobody reads the hand book, that is why. I was taking notes and texting them to Babe so he could check them out himself.  I had two previous issues with the X1 platform and I totally voiced them. What is the point of being in this position if I don’t keep it real? The amazing news is others had the same complaints and THEY FIXED THEM! If you also missed the extended recording feature and the show reminder, then worry no more. It is back y’all.

Learning from the X1 Platform

I can sum up these products with two words, customize and efficient.

X1: It’s an amazing platform and real smart TV like. I’m going to share the things that really stick out to me. The first part is the kids; my girl is ALWAYS asking to watch her shows. By shows I mean anything on Sprout, Disney Jr, & Nick Jr. so the Kid’s Zone is perfect for her.

Kids Zone is a Kid Friendly TV Guide

This is the hub for all things crayon eaters. You don’t have to worry about them watching inappropriate shows while you are enjoying the latest episode of Power in the living room. Even better is that they have the Play Next Episode Feature, genius I tell you. You put a show on for the kids, they watch and then the show goes off. Your kid suddenly and frantically starts calling your name like a crazy person. Your heart is racing; you jump up spilling your wine to run to their location for them to simply ask you to put on another episode. Not any more you won’t, this feature has our parenting back. SCORE! You can also set the Parental Control by age so you can really make sure they stay not just in the kid zone but watching shows geared to their specific age.

Rating System

The Man-Child has finally earned his TV rights back. This means I need to make sure his liberties don’t go too far. This rating system allows me to say yes you can or not going to happen. Although he is only 11, almost 12 I allow him to watch PG 13 movies and maybe a hit higher depending on what it is. He is heavy into Superhero movies and Transformers and such so I like to see the break down on just how grown things really are. At this point my real concern is sexual content vs some of the others.

Sports Feature

This one is for the fellas and my Mom; she is the only woman I know that is into sports as much as the men are. The X1 platform has taking things to the next level. Peep the right side of the screen it tells you who is playing, what time they are playing, game rating, and the probability of the winner. WHAT! If that isn’t enough they will also give you stats and the injury list. Note: Ladies this is the best fake it ’til you make it feature ever. I’m just saying…

Next level ish…

LIVE STREAM TO YOUR TV, SHUT YO MOUTH! We tried this feature out the minute I got home. Let me tell you how it works, you download the share app to your phone. Say you are at your kid’s soccer game but their grandparents can’t make it. You open the share app; you connect to your parent’s TV via the phone number associated with their account {assuming they also have X1}. It will display a message on their TV saying you want to connect. Once they accept the soccer game your kid is playing in is now displayed on their TV from your phone. You can also share pictures on your TV via social media if you’re connected to Wi-Fi.

Listen to your voicemail on TV

If you are like us, you look at one another as the home phone rings. Neither of you get up to answer it {caller ID pops up on the TV} so you end up with a ton of voicemail messages. You can listen to the message on the TV or via the App. I had no idea.

Some other dope features include: Voice Command Remote, you can speak into the remote and it will change the channel.  If you don’t know the name of the movie, then you can quote a line from the movie. That is dope! I am a person that can describe any scenario in life with a quote from a movie. Favorites, you can tag your favorite channels or your favorite actor. If you tag a favorite actor, then the DVR will automatically record a show/movie starring that person. Did someone say Michael B Jordan?

You control the system; it doesn’t control you

XFINITY HOME: This was the product I was most interested in. I’ve been wanting to upgrade our current system but hadn’t done my research. This one is single handily killing the game. Most security systems have gotten fancy and you can control them with apps. You can check on your home at any time via the app. Well XFINITY has taken it a step further.

A look at the app

Alarm Reminders: Sorry kids, you aren’t sneaking in or out with his Home System. Your youth has been ruined, you will never know what it is like to go for a joy ride in your parent’s car after they’ve gone to bed.  You can set reminders for example: Every time your front door opens your home system takes a picture of your front door. If your kid is supposed to be home by 3:30 PM Mon. – Fri., you can set a reminder to alert you if the door doesn’t open by 3:45 PM. These alerts can be sent to you via text. Did I mention the video footage is encrypted?

Arm the system via the TV

Several nights Babe and I are in the bed going back and forth about who is going to get up and set the alarm. NOT ANYMORE! Look at God, XFINITY is saving relationships and they have no idea.

You can take it a step further and get power cords, door locks and thermostats that are compatible with the XFINITY Home system then you can control those via the system as well. You can get a full list on
