Hey Cuties,
The family and I have been enjoying our staycation during the last week of summer. It has been hell hot in the DC area lately so we’ve been keeping cool. I had some pre-planned activities but with the extreme temps I didn’t want everyone to be miserable; So I had to come up with some things on the fly.
Day 1:
We started out with some fun at the pool. We joined the Style Medic and her boys to make it a big party of six.
I had to get a before shot because I wasn’t sure if I could keep up with them once they got in the pool. The kids always have more fun when other kids are around.
I didn’t want the kids to have all of the fun, so I got in on the action as well.
Ladies of leisure…
My kids are seven years a part so it is important for me to find activities that both of them can enjoy. He just wrapped up Level 3 swim lessons; so he is all about getting in the pool these days.
Day 2: Was a fun lazy day, we laid around watched TV and enjoyed doing our own things. My niece came over to hang out with us so the kids turned the noise level all the way up in the house. We are a family of five for the next two days.
Day 3: This was the day we were going to visit the zoo. Instead I found another activity that involved air conditioning. Last week I mentioned some local things to do with Groupon and painting pottery was one of them. Although they didn’t presently have any coupons to fit our needs we went anyway.
My girl chose an elephant bank, she has at least 3 piggy banks already. She wanted it to be grey with yellow spots.
Kam went with the car piggy bank. I love the way she added details and life to it. I can’t wait to see how the headlights turn out.
The ManChild decided on an owl bank. He wanted it to be several shades of brown with a touch of yellow and orange.
Babe decided to go with a bowl, he picked a bold orange color with a couple of accent colors.
I decided on a quote bubble, that is perfect for a blogger right? I wanted a little jewel dish to add to my new accessory area that I just redid.
I had captured all the fun one by one but we needed a group picture.
We’re all done, now we wait… I will pick up our finished projects in a week.
Day 4: Today is a beach day, now we live on the East Coast so we don’t have beautiful blue waters or anything like that. Nevertheless, fun was on the agenda.
We took a short trip to Chesapeake Beach.
The four of them was freely exploring the water.
These two are first cousins but they act like brother and sister. They are only 11 months apart and they always enjoy hanging out with one another. It is crazy to see them go from little babies to these big grown kids.
As big as they are they make time for My Girl and I love that. She wants to be like them so bad.
I’m not a beach person, I don’t like sand, I can’t swim and I believe everything in the water wants to eat me alive. With that said they forced me to join them in the middle of the water. Eeeeek! It was all flat land, but oh my gosh I was freaking out every step of the way. My son even came back to the shore to get me because I’m a baby. Whateve! I did it and I took a picture as proof, I don’t plan on doing it again.
This is what I like about the beach, the view is beautiful. I go to the beach to eat, people watch, and take pictures.
The ducks were everywhere and they were so cute. This is us taking a selfie with them.
There is no them without us.
I’ve enjoyed hanging out with the family. It gave us a chance to reconnect a bit and just be silly. We hadn’t done that in a while.
I’m headed to Memphis, TN to hang out with St. Jude. Stay tune.

Looks like you guys had fun! I’m so happy that the summer is finally wrapping up. Fall is my season!
Latoya, I’m with you girl. Fall is my season too.
Fun! Fun! And YES! It’s been HOT! A little fun in the sun before the kids head off to school is good for the soul.
It is, I hope it helps clear their minds so they are ready to get back to learning.
Sounds like they have been having lots of fun. We still have a few more weeks of summer vacation here in Boston and we’re going to enjoy it as much as possible.
Sounds like a great plan Robin. I wish the kids had until after labor day to return to school.
You guys look like you had so much fun! My son and I had our last hurrah last week Friday when I took him to a Lego discovery Center. I’m so appreciative that my son and I have a good relationship and we can have fun. Looks like your kids were so very happy to do stuff.
Way cool Jeanette, I bet he loved Lego Discovery. That is awesome, as my son gets older I have to work a bit more to maintain a good relationship.
I actually love the beach, summer and everything that comes with, except the worse-than-ever humidity that’s been here for the last 4 weeks.
What a fun way to spend the last week of summer break. I love the pottery pieces that each of you did and that water in the pool looks refreshing. I’d love to jump right in.
Here in the DC area we know all about humidity. It can ruin an otherwise great day. lol
The pool was really refreshing and the water wasn’t freezing cold.
I can’t believe the summer is almost over. It feels like it flew by. It looks like you guys are all having a great time and enjoying the last few weeks of summer. We hope to head to the beach one more time before September.
It flew by really fast, more so then it did when I was a kid.
It always makes me happy to read about families having fun together. The world has become too fast paced that kids just turn into adults in a blink of an eye. You and your lovely family look like you had a great bonding moment!
Awww, thanks Annemarie. I agree, I try to frequently slow life all the way down and get back to the basics.
Looks like you let summer go out with a bang, loads of fun and happiness in those photos. I am glad you were able to have a fun last week of Summer before getting back into the school season.
Sarah that was my goal, the kid said it was a hit. It was a nice way to let our hair down.
Your family had an awesome time. It sure is the last week for summer fun. School is coming up soon. It’s nice your family got to spend time at the beach and did pottery painting. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Francisca, it was a nice close out to the summer.
Sounds like you really made the most out of your last week of summer. I think pottery painting would be fun. I’ve never actually done it.
We certainly tried Pam. Painting pottery was a lot more fun then the kids expected.
Oh smart you to get to the beach – that is one spot we have yet to make it to – perhaps this weekend I can squeeze it in – if the weather holds up for us!
It doesn’t see like summer if we haven’t been to the beach. I’m so thankful we have a few that are close to us.
Looks like so much fun! I’ve been wanting to take a pottery painting class. Will def look on groupon for some. I’m supposed to go to Dorney Park this weekend for our end of summer trip. Can’t wait.
Dorney Park sounds like fun, I hope you enjoy it.
I love this! You are such a great mom! I hate to see summer go, but I’m so ready for my kids to go back.
Thanks Tanya, I try to keep the kids busy. I have mixed feelings about summer but I’m a fall baby so I’m ready. I also love the holidays so fall kicks it off.
What a great week of fun! I haven’t taken my kids to paint in so long, I forgot about it! We love painting pottery items!
Lisa, we hadn’t done it in a long time either. It is still just as fun as I remember.
Looks like lots of fun! We still have a little over two weeks left and the final week we will be squeezing a bunch of fun into it too!
Enjoy it Jeanine.
It looks like y’all had so much fun!! But girl I am so glad school is back in we had a fun filled summer as well and I’m ready for things to slow back down but on another note you look great in your bathing suit
Tomiko, I feel you I’m ready for things to slow down a bit. Thanks girl.
Yall bedda TURN UP! I love seeing you and your family together!
Hahhaha thanks hun, they are a wild bunch.
I wish I could dig my toes into the san and enjoy these last few weeks of summer!
The closest beach is an hour away but it’s nothing like the ones you went to.
So jealous!!
Oh wow Heather. I wish we had clearer water.
Aw, you all look like you ended summer vacation right! Staycations are always a good idea. Close to home and more affordable.
Yes Stacie, we are due for a big vacation soon so I’m going to start planning for Summer 2017.
You guys definitely ended summer break with a bang! Glad you guys had fun! School over here starts in 2 weeks! Man did summer break fly by!
Thanks Nancy. You guys are soaking up the last week of summer as well.
I cannot believe kids are back in school and summer is almost over. This sounds like a fabulous last week of summer vacation.
LiveLifeWell,
Allison
I know right Allison, summers are way short once you become a parent.
Looks like you had a great time! Staycation is fun! We went to Yosemite park last week, kids enjoyed it
Rika, that sounds like a lot of fun. We’ve never been.
Girl thats right get it out have all the fun! Its like when kids go back to school the parents do too. I am so happy your family had a blast. You are like me a big kid!
You are so right, when the kids go back to school so do we. I’m a total big kid. lol
What a great way to spend the last week of summer. I love going to the beach and your photos are making me want to book a trip right now lol.
Terri my family loves the beach so much. It is such a carefree place.
I’m really glad that you had fun weekend! Summer season is the best season ever.
Thanks Nikki, I hope you’ve had a great summer.
Awww I love this! What an awesome way to end the summer. I love creating memories with the family, and we got to do a lot of that this summer.
Thanks Christine, it really was. I love doing activities here and there instead of just waiting for one big event.
Looks like a fun time Mimi. The kids look so happy and uh missy..you are werking those suits!
Thanks Jaye, the kids had so much fun. They had no idea what activities we’d planned. Ha, I’m trying to keep it cute.
This looks like an amazing last week of summer fun for the family. I love the pool day and the pottery painting which are both awesome things to do with the kids. Thanks for sharing your last week of summer and the Groupons can indeed help with the cost of some things for sure.
Thanks Rebecca. I wanted summer to go out with a bang.
Summertime family memories are the best! Looks like you guys had a great time!
Thanks Natalie. I love making new family memories.
OMG the elephant bank is so cute! Love the grey and yellow polka dots. Sounds like a lot of fun. It’s a darn shame I haven’t been to the beach yet this summer!
It was so much fun, Nori was so proud of her work. Don’t feel bad I’ve only been to this one and it wasn’t tropical.
That beach view is amazing and all the kids look like they had a great time! I have wanted to try the pottery thing for a while now, I’ve got to give it a shot. Have fun in Memphis!
They had a ball and so our mission was accomplished. You will enjoy painting pottery, give it a go.
