The weekend is here TURN UP! I’m on my way to New York City to check off one of my bucket list items. NEW YORK FASHION WEEK HERE I COME!!!! You already know New York is one of my favorite cities. See, see, see, I told you.
I have a few places I want to eat and I will share those #FatSnacks next week. Sunday marks the anniversary of September 11th so security will be extra high and memorials will be taking place. I’m going to see if I can squeeze in a visit. I haven’t been down there since they finished the new buildings. I worked not far from the Pentagon during Sept. 11th so I’m familiar with being close to the devastation that took place.
As we ease into fall I thought my schedule would slow down a bit but that isn’t a thing. So I’m rolling with it, I told the Universe I want to attend the South by South Lawn and the Celebration of Hope.
Fall is approaching and this is what I’m looking forward to, in to, waiting on and checking for…
New York Fashion Week: The dope folks over at Kyboe! invited me to their show on Saturday. I can’t freaking wait, and they gifted me this hella dope watch to rock. There will be more on this for sure.

Power on STARZ Is currently eight episodes in and it continues to suck me in every single time. They killed off the girl I didn’t like and that has turned things upside down a bit. They’ve added some new characters into the mix and that keeps things fresh. The very best of this all is that the star of the show, Omari Hardwick is a total cutie. He isn’t the only one, but he is the cutest.
Green Leaf on OWN just wrapped up their first season and it was incredible. The show centers around a family that runs a church. It includes all of the good and the bad that comes with that. As a child that grew up in church I’m familiar with some of these things. I understand how things got to be the way they are and I know people in real life that fit these characters perfectly. It is like a late night soap opera that stars Lynn Whitfield and she does not disappoint. The cast is mostly fresh faces and I like to see that in Hollywood. There is some man candy in this show as well, two in particular.
Queen Sugar on OWN just started this week. They are two episodes in and it is the perfect replacement for Green Leaf since they just wrapped up. This incredible show is done by non-other than Selma Director Ave Duvernay. I had a chance to meet her and the cast and listen to them talk about the show at Essence this year.
Catfish: MTV listen this show will always be good. Even in 2016 people are still falling for the banana in the tail pipe on the internet. I’ve you’ve been chatting/texting someone for years and you’ve never met you are being Catfish-ed. If they can’t video chat in any manner they are a Catfish. If they suddenly tell you they or someone close to them has Cancer or has been in a terrible accident and then quit chatting to you, they are a Catfish. Do better people. I randomly ran into Nev & Max on the streets of New York while they were filming several years ago.
Wild ‘N Out on MTV is one of the funniest shows on TV. The show is based on improve and that’s what makes it so good. They get celeb guest here and they jump right in. This is Nick Cannon’s show and he features a lot of up and coming comedians. They act out funny sketches, make up songs and gets the crowd involved. I need to get Babe and I to a taping. We watch the show together and laugh like crazy.
Survivor’s Remorse on STARZ is one of my favorite shows. They are on episode eight in their second season. The show is good and the cast is even better. I had a chance to chat with them while at Essence this summer. This is the first TV series produced by NBA star Lebron James.
Mr. Church is coming out next week, September 16th and it looks so good. I saw the previews in the theater, but bring your tissue Cuties. This one will make you laugh and cry. The movie stars Eddie Murphy and I think this is just what his career needed. I had forgotten how talented Eddie was and this is the perfect reminder.
Description: “Mr. Church” tells the story of a unique friendship he develops when a little girl and her dying mother need the services of a talented cook by the name of Henry Joseph Church. It starts out as a six-month arrangement but ends up lasting fifteen years. Family isn’t always defined by blood.
Sully came out today and I hope to go see it next week. This movie is based on real life events that took place January 15, 2009 on the Hudson in New York. I remember all of the breaking news on this story. Captain Chesley Sullenberger became a hero after and emergency landing of his plane along the water Hudson River after hitting a flock of geese. He saved the entire flights 155 crew and passengers.
This movie is Directed by Clint Eastwood and stars Tom Hanks. I feel like people will stand up and clap at the end.
I’ve read some really good books this year, and I’m looking forward to reading two more. Two of my blogger inspirations and favorites have written books. I’m so proud of them, these ladies are moving and shaking on major levels. They are were I aspire to be. I’m so proud to share and support them and their amazing talents.
