Hey Cuties,
Memorial Day has arrived and that is the official kick-off of the summer season. The pools have opened, the motorcycle season has officially begun and the nail salons are jam packed. The folks that neglected their feet during the winter months thanks to Uggs have reemerged for pedicure season and they are getting in formation. Thanks to the Puma’s latest partnership with singer Rihanna, The FENTY® PUMA® by Rihanna collection has made slide sandals all the rage. They started out with satin bows, then furry slides and lastly jelly slides.
After the release of the collection, slides have been given new life. I have a pair of athletic Adidas slides, but the Velcro strap just isn’t cute. With the new slide trend, I decided to get in on the action. I want to be cute and stylish and in this case trendy without paying a lot for my muffler. The FENTY® PUMA® by Rihanna slide collection retails for $90. I’m not judging those that purchase, I’m just giving you another perspective.
Supplies: Slides, Glue, and Embellishments
I ordered these slides from Amazon for $19.99. I wear a size 8 but I got a size 9, they fit perfectly.
I already owned these embellishments but you can get them from the craft stores, Amazon and or Ebay. All of my embellishments have flat backs. When using E6000 proper ventilation is essential, work near a window and use a face mask.
Once I got started I didn’t like the way the rhinestones looked so I switched them out for pearls.
I love the way they turned out. My original thought was to use a few embellishments but as I continued to work I like the junk kind of look. I kept going with it and naturally I had to put my signature name on them. I love to make things my own and that is why I love a good DIY.
If you love the trend and would like to try another style, The Style Medic did a DIY Pompom slide sandal.

Now this is such an awesome idea and if you take them off by the pool you aren’t going to get confused about which pair is yours.
Not at all Sarah, no mix up taking place.
Wow those really are unique and cute. My granddaughter is here and said she wants to make them. I’ll have to let her try.
Go for it Terri, that would be a lot of fun.
Those. Are. The. COOLEST! They are seriously so much fun! I have some old sandals like this that could use a little blind. Thanks!

This would be such a great project for my daughter and I this weekend. I am totally doing it. Thank you so much for your creativity!
Yay, have fun, Jennifer.
We have mostly tile and hardwood flooring in our home, so I wear slide sandals like these around the house. I love the idea of personalizing them to match my style! So fun!
Oh, that is a great idea, Marcie. You can put your name on it.
What a great idea to create a custom made sandal You can make it suit any occasion or feeling!

Thanks, Ricci. I believe in putting my name on everything.
Can you make me a pair? I am just not into DIY but I would buy and wear these.
Kita, I don’t have the mojo in me anymore. I recently did a Nike pair that is even easier to do.
I don’t really wear slides which is probably why I hadn’t heard of the new Rihanna/Puma ones but I can get with this! I love a good DIY and this is pretty cute!
THanks Marsha, I always love a good DIY.
Woah! I’ve never thought that I could also do this on my own! Your DIY Slide Sandals are really pretty and unique.
Thanks Victoria, you can do anything on your own.

Thanks Chrishelle. I can’t wait to wear them on the beach.
That is very creative on your part. I am not sure I would have thought of such a thing on my own. I like it. This is a great idea for a craft.
Thanks Dawn, I love to craft.

Daria you totally could.
Wow, you are really good at this! This is such an awesome idea to improve on regular old shoes. My kids would love creating some precious accessories with beads that we have – what an awesome trick!
E H really you can do this on any fabric/canvas.
Oh, slide sandals are back? I remember how popular they were back in high school. Wish I had thought of the idea to bling them up back then! Would have been too cool!
Right Marielle, we would have been so fly.
I remember seeing these on Twitter. Now that I’ve seen your blog, I could try the pom slides! Lol. I love heels…
