Happy New Year Cuties,
2018 has finally arrived, and although it is just another day I’m always excited about the start of a new year. I did what I’ve done for many years now; laid on the sofa with Babe and the kids and said Happy New Year! Oh, I also had some Magical Rainbow Juice.
The week before Christmas I invited my girls over for a Unicorn Happy Hour. It was a chance for us to celebrate 2017, Christmas and cheers for the new year. Any excuse to have a party is a good one but this one was different. The required attire was a onesie; because my friends know me well, they never even questioned it. Who doesn’t love unicorns? They are so cute! Why not give your little girl a unicorn themed room or even a unicorn themed birthday party? You can’t go wrong with this! The photos will turn out to be amazing and all the colours just add something special to any room.
In true MimiCuteLips fashion, I had planned out the theme and everything. Upon arrival, each guest had to locate their respective placement on the table and put on their unicorn headband. I used pinks, blues, greens, purples and yellows with gold accents. I created the placemats and bottle labels and printed them out. I got the plates and napkins from Wal-Mart and the gold plastic utensils from Target. I already owned the decorative straws and milk bottles. The headbands were an Amazon purchase.
Magical Rainbow Juice: Pink Moscato + Sherbert
Because I like to do the most I had coordinating water bottle labels and I dipped and drizzled chocolate pretzels to match my theme. Pretzels are such an easy way to bring out your theme and they make for pretty table decor as well.
For the menu, I kept it light, after all this was a Unicorn Happy Hour. I made rainbow broccoli slaw, we had it on The Chew. It is easy to make and so delicious.
We paired the slaw with pulled pork and beef brisket from Famous Dave’s. We had Sangria because it was our favorite until I made the Magical Unicorn Juice.
I made these super cute Unicorn bags for their gifts. I used Sharpie to make the lashes and cardstock paper for the ears, horn, and leaves. I used paper flowers to fill the middle.
The Unicorn Hostess with the Mostess
Ty was in a cute Minnie Mouse Onesie & Chrissy in a classic red/black box print with fur onesie.
Te and Faye clearly had the same idea, so they showed up in the same stripped onesie.
You know I had to rock a Unicorn Onesie, because Unicorn Happy Hour. This was another Amazon purchase.
After eating and cocktailing it was time to open their gifts. I’m a giver and I pride myself on giving good gifts so I’m always extra giddy watching someone open a gift from me.
This is what our glasses looked like. You know I got one for myself too.
After opening their gifts and checking them out it was time for a game. We played Pictionary, Christmas music style. We had too much fun and too many cocktails for me to capture the moment. Picture It: I wrote down a bunch of Christmas songs on torn pieces of paper. I put them all in a glass and grabbed a large dry erase board. When it’s your turn you grab a song from the glass and get to drawing.
I only invited my besties over for a magical Unicorn Happy Hour. These four gals are my people and I’m so thankful for having dope girls in my life. They build me up, they make me better, they keep it real with me and I love them to pieces. I’m so making this an annual tradition for us.
