Happy Good Friday! Today is Day 1 of Spring Break, pray for my strength. While on break LittleCuteLips and I will try out our new hair products. Miss Jessie’s sent me some of their new products. We had a great time trying them out. You know she won’t let me have anything, Likely for her she has a head full of hair so I could not say no.
I went “natural” July 2005 and the very first product I used was Miss Jessie’s Curly Pudding and I love it. It did wonders for my curls, and it smelled amazing. This was back when you could only mail order products, they weren’t in the stores and it was early beginnings. They didn’t start selling products until 2004. I’m not new to this, I’m true to this.
Let’s start with what was in my package:
Curls So Fresh: 8 oz.
Bring your curls back to life with a moisturizing burst of Miss Jessie’s Curls So Fresh™. It kick-starts second, third, and even fourth-day hair into high gear. No need to start all over and shampoo. Just spray on and revitalize your curls. Energizes your curls with an infusion of moisture and shine that hydrates your curls, promotes curl formation, and revitalizes curl definition while reducing frizz. Miss Jessie’s Curls So Fresh™ is super lightweight but packs a lot of curl power. Enjoy the instant hydration, maximum moisture, and simplicity of styling.
Honey Curls: 8.5 oz.
Handcrafted with love and enriched by Mother Nature’s natural nectar – honey! The honey is the natural ingredient that locks in moisture and adds natural hold. Miss Jessie’s Honey Curls™ is blended to a perfect consistency to be spreadably smooth for maximum coverage without any greasy build up. Miss Jessie’s took extra time to create this new sweet almond oil enriched styling emulsion that provides conditioning, hold, moisture, and all day shiny softness.
Gloss So Good: 6oz.
This is an ultra-smooth finishing mist that puts the spotlight on your curls by coating your coils with extra sheen without leaving any greasy or oily residue. It is enriched with an abundance of natural and exotic oils such as safflower seed oil, olive fruit oil, sesame seed oil, sweet almond oil, avocado oil, coconut oil, tamanu oil, primrose oil, and argania spinosa oil. These oils work in combination to replenish moisture, improve manageability, and, of course, add a high gloss sheen and finish to your natural and curly hair.
Grow Strong Mafura: 1.5oz.
This is the perfect oil treatment for your coils and curls. It can be used to hydrate your hair and scalp, encourage hair growth, and even help reduce split ends. Miss Jessie’s upgraded and infused this formulation with soybean oil, seed butter, avocado oil, castor oil, jojoba seed oil, argan oil, sweet almond oil, Abyssinian oil, and coconut oil. This oil is known to: Encourage maximum hair growth. Provide major moisture. Prevent hair breakage while strengthening natural hair. Sooth and relieve dry and/or itchy scalp. Deliver natural shine.
Sunday is Wash Day in my house, that means LittleCuteLips and I are stuck with one another for 4 hours. I wash her hair, blow it out, and then braid it up. We like to try a variety of styles like these and these to share a few. Sometimes she has a specific request other times/most times I have full creative control. Every time I get a box she wants to know what I got. She was excited that this one I was willing to share with her.
I went for a simple hairstyle for this week, I like to let her hair out to breath when we are on vacation. This hairstyle is easy to take down. What we used:
Miss Jessie’s Grow Strong MAFURA Hair Oil: Now, this is something that needs a decent amount of time to see results so I can’t say it works, but we are committed to the process so I will let you know at a later date. What I can tell you is that it smells amazing. I used this on dry hair after I had blown her hair out but before I started styling it.
Miss Jessie’s Gloss So Good: This is a game changer for me. I used this as a finisher for LittleCuteLips style. Her two strand twist were already luscious but the shine it gave her hair was a perfect touch. This product smells different than the oil but still an amazing scent. Not strong or overpowering.
Now that I got LittleCuteLips hair all cute it was time for me to do my own. I started with a fresh haircut. You always feel better when your hair is freshly done. I’m a wash and go type of gal with this haircut so my routine is about 10 minutes long.
After washing my hair I towel dried it a bit, then sprayed my Miss Jessie’s Curls So Fresh onto my damp hair.
I massaged it in a bit then took my hair sponge to my curls.
I polished my look off with Miss Jessie’s Gloss So Good.
Step 1: Fresh Cut. Step 2: Shampoo hair. Step 3: Miss Jessie’s Curls So Fresh. Step 4: Miss Jessie’s Gloss So Good. Step 5: Go out and live your best life.
The day prior to getting a haircut I tried out Miss Jessie’s Honey Curls. I had more curls on my head at the time so that was perfect. I did my same shampoo routine, towel dried my hair and rubbed some Honey Curls into my hair. It smelled delicious just like the others. I was a bit overzealous and used more product than necessary. Once my hair air dried it had a firmer hold to my curls. While it was firm, it was not crunchy. The lesson was a little goes a long way. Try the product style and scrunch your girls and see how it holds up before adding more product.
Overall I liked all of the products, they all have smells but none of them are overpowering. I have a very sensitive snout so I appreciated that. None of them left our hair greasy or sticky feelings and that is important to me.
A special thanks to Miss Jessie’s for sending ups these complimentary products.
