Teen Titans Go! To The Movies Is The Laughter You Need

Hey Cuties,

Tuesday I surprised the kids with a Teen Titans Go! To the Movies screening. If you don’t have children or a grown man that still watches cartoons than you might not know what I’m talking about. Let me clue you in because this is going to be a summer box office hit. The movie hits theaters July 27, the kids left smiling from ear to ear. We’ve actually watched this film twice! Once at the cinema and once at my friends house. She has Multi Room Audio and it really brought the movie to life. It’s a great film!!

This movie is legit a feel-good movie. If you need a pick me up, go see it. If you are in a stank mood go sit it. If you want to have a moment with your kids or nieces, nephews, and or godchildren go see it. It is a movie for everyone, everyone will laugh, you can’t control it even if you want to. Teen Titans GO! started out as a cartoon on the Cartoon Networks, but when the Teen Titans go to the big screen, they go big!

“Teen Titans GO! to the Movies” finds our egocentric, wildly satirical Super Heroes in their first feature film extravaganza—a fresh, gleefully clever, kid-appropriately crass and tongue-in-cheek play on the superhero genre, complete with musical numbers. It seems to the Teens that all the major superheroes out there are starring in their own movies—everyone but the Teen Titans, that is! But de facto leader Robin is determined to remedy the situation and be seen as a star instead of a sidekick. If only they could get the hottest Hollywood film director to notice them. With a few madcap ideas and a song in their heart, the Teen Titans head to Tinsel Town, certain to pull off their dream. But when the group is radically misdirected by a seriously Super-Villain and his maniacal plan to take over the Earth, things really go awry. The team finds their friendship and their fighting spirit failing, putting the very fate of the Teen Titans themselves on the line!

Director: Peter Rida Michail and Aaron Horvath Animated Adventure.

The movie is rated PG, so it is based on your parental guidance. My 6-year-old daughter watched and I was fine with her watching it. There is a lot of potty humor, but nothing I took offense too. Because this was really about the kids I asked each of them what they thought as we were leaving the theater.

The Man-Child (Age 13):

Q: What do you think of the movie?

A: The movie was hilarious, a lot of funny parts.

Q: Did the movie live up to your expectations?

A: The movie was better than I thought it would be.

Q: Who is your favorite character?

A: My favorite character is Beast Boy

My son was laughing out loud, he was slapping his knee and everything. I’ve never seen him act like this, I appreciate witnessing that moment. The kids have been quoting the movie since Tuesday night. I’m shocked at how many one-liners they remember, that means the DVD is a must. I’ve never watched an episode of the cartoon yet I could keep up with the storyline. There were some “inside jokes” that may have been funnier if I 1. Had watched the cartoon. 2. Watched comic movies, and 3. Knew who Stan Lee was. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it start to finish and I did not fall asleep and that was major, I almost always nod off. Not in this movie, the energy is too high. There were several moments when the adults were laughing more and louder than the kids.

Outside of the funny there is the lesson of friendship and being yourself. Knowing that you are enough exactly as you are.

LittleCuteLips scored some merch at the screening.

NOTE: Stay for two scenes that happen in the credits. In the words of my son “They are tough!” I’m just saying. I hope you can translate teenagery.

Yes, it can be so hard to find something your teen loves. Mine still has a lot of kid in him and I appreciate that. Having a 6 year old sister plays a part.
