Hey Cuties,
We are less than a week out from the first day of the school year. Because life has been happening I need to get the kids a few things. Along with the regular school items I also have some medical must-haves.
“I am in partnership with HealthPlan USA and they have provided me with compensation for this campaign. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.”
The Man-Child is playing football so his shot records had to be current. I don’t even have time to tell you how worried I am about him getting hurt. This is his first time playing football and he is a freshman in High School. Did I also mention some of these kids look like they already have two kids in college? Thus far he has hurt his wrist and his rib area. *sigh*
I need to fix him up as quickly as possible when he gets hurt. I also don’t have time to pull him from school to sit in a waiting room an hour after my scheduled appointment time.
He wears glasses and he is on his third pair in less than a years time. Are you counting my money yet like I am? He also has food allergies and requires an EpiPen so I need to get a new twin pack for the school and for home. Considering I have allergies, and so does The Man-Child, I’m strongly considering looking at kits similar to those you can find here with this food intolerance test UK as an example, to test the rest of our family to ensure no one else has any allergies that could surprise us in the future. Anyway, the EpiPens, we had some but they expired a month ago. Oops, we could be looking at needing a lot more should any of the other kids test positive! We have health insurance and although it is helpful, more help is even better so I signed up for the HealthPlan USA.
HealthPlan USA is a new way to take charge of your health care costs. A membership provides you discounts on a range of health-related services including prescription drugs, dental, vision and telehealth access. You’ll get access to medical professionals at a fraction of the cost of a traditional doctors visit. When you have a concern or emergency, you can talk to a doctor right from your computer or mobile device. Hello, no line no waiting. All of this becomes way more important when you have kids because they have trips and falls, through no fault of yours, that may need doctor attention. Also, your child’s first dentist appointment age is younger than you think, so being prepared with dental coverage helps you financially and your family’s health in total!
I wonder if they can tell me how to cut down on the smell after hours of football practice in 90+ degree weather. This is all new so stay tuned, I will report back on our experience. I will let you know when tryouts are and if he makes the team, and how I will survive it all.

The medical part to being a football mom is so important. I use to worry about concussions. Thank you for reminding parents how important this is.
That is my greatest worry honestly.
Lord, please don’t let my son want to play football. I’m going to do my best to make it seem like the most unappealing sport in the world. ? “That’s not a sport. That’s a learning exercise where you have to pass around pig skin while doing geometry,” I’ll say.
Hahahahaha. I am cracking up laughing, girl I wish. I wanted him to keep doing soccer, he is so good. But head butting the ball makes me nervous too.
Yep, I’ve been there. I was a basketball mom for years. One of my kids wore glasses and I had to buy the special sports glasses for him. He looked so cute!
Ha! I remember seeing players in the NBA with them on. He is interested in basketball as well so we will need those.
Yayy I hope he makes the team! I was a football mom..the injuries ughh my son broke his clavicle during a game and I nearly lost it…I wish there was something like HealthPlan USA back then.
Thanks, I’m trying not to get all worked up about. To this point, he has been injury free. Jesus, I would have come undone on that field.
Good luck football mom. My son is ready to get back to playing. I really need to look into this healthplan US because we definitely need a bit more coverage.
It would be great for you guys. I think all business owners should try it.
I need to get one of these for my children! This is the second article I’ve read about it and the way these little ones stay at the doctor’s office is crazy! Good Luck this football season! Dj LOVES football but Darrick and I have agreed he can’t play until he’s a freshman in high school…possibly in middle school but the injuries scare me too!
Yes, this would probably do very well for you guys.
You already know he is going to be ready to play. I was shocked because my son was never interested in football until now.
Kuddos to you for being so brave by letting your son play football. Like you, I cringe knowing that they can really get hurt on the field. However, you let them take on new adventure and soar. But in all of that, having the proper insurance is a must have because you never know what he’ll need.
I would rather have more than I need. Than to need and not have.
This reminds me of my neighbor sometimes I babysit her daughter so she can take her son for soccer practices and appointments. Keep up !
There is so much to keep up, they take over your life a bit.
I am a football mom. This is my boys second year playing. The first year was kind of shaky but since we’ve switched teams things are going so much better this year. However, I won’t lie I still have the thought in the back of my mind what if they get hurt.
I’m giving them the side eye all year long and see how it goes.
I haven’t yet but maybe I will be now that I have a son on the way. Lawd I’m not ready for him to get hurt!
Girl! I’m thankful he didn’t want to play football until High School.
Hi Mimi. Thanks for this informative ppst. Not a football Mom but definitely know some who have had their share of D4 visits and could benefit from HealthPlanUSA
Oh wow, I hope to not have that experience. I have heard so many stories. I’m thankful we have made it almost 14 years with no ER visits.
My sons didn’t do football, but you would be stunned how many hits to the head and trips to the emergency room come with soccer! Any sort of financial help for medical and other expenses is so vital when you are a sports mom.
Eeeeeek! Maybe he needs to try tennis or something with low contact. lol
It’s definitely not easy being a football mom. I didn’t even know half of the challenges that goes with it. This health program sounds like the way to go.
I am learning, I know about the game itself but everything is so new.
I like the concept of this discount healthcare service. i also cracked up when you said there are teens who look like they already have 2 kids in college but I hope your son has a great football year!
I think discount health care is a great resource for an affordable price.
Girl, they look older than me. lol
This plan is great for families because for a little more than $16 you can keep your entire family covered with the benefits you shared. I love that it can help save on prescription cost too.
Yes, I just picked up an EpiPen for my son and it was $166. Umm excuse me sir!
This is great to share with my sister. My nephew plays football. I’m sure you two can connect and trade stories and get advice.
For sure, I will take all that I can get. Thanks.
My son started playing sports when he was 6 years old and is now on the track team in college (field events). There’s always that concern for their safety, but you are taking the right steps. Have a great season.
Wow, that is awesome. My son ran track in Middle School, he wants to try track when the season rolls around.
Wow, you are like a fab super mom! I don’t have any children yet, but I do want boys. How do you like having a son? Football is definitely my favorite sport, I hope he has a great season!
Girl! I just try to keep them alive and make them productive members of society. Boys are rough and tough, I have learned so much about them. I was not raised around boys, my cousins that I grew up with are all girls. I will say he is very loving and I adore that about him.
