Long Live The Woman [Vive La Femme + Vive La Vodka]

Hey Cuties,

On a Sunday the weather was beautiful, the sun was shinning, and I was feeling myself. The Style Medic and I hit the streets for a really cute event at the Compass Rose Bar + Kitchen. I didn’t know what to expect when I got the invite. When I arrived it was much different than what I had concocted in my my head, but it was hella cute. It was an intimate dinner party.

Menu + My Dope Polaroid

The event was titled VIVE LA FEMME [Long Live The Woman] Grey Goose, Compass Rose Bar Team, and Cha McCoy invited us to the Ultimate Dining Experience Celebrating the contributions of women in the Food + Beverage Industry. Oh, and to discover, taste and indulge ourselves in the world of Super-Premium Vodka.

They had Polaroid cameras on the table for us to use. That was such a dope idea, and boy did we have fun with them.

Our host and Grey Goose Representative was Earlecia Richelle [@LadyBleuSips] and our Wine Expert was Cha McCoy, Sommelier + Wine Influencer Extraordinaire [@Cha_Squared]. They are two brown girls that share a passion for travel, the sisterhood, and libations.

Because parking in DC is the absolute worse I missed the first course, but I will tell you what was served.

You know this is my seasons of doing the absolute most, I am 7 months away from 40 and I am feeling myself. I was feeling the weather and I hadn’t worn this super cute sweatshirt so it was perfect for my skirt.  Platforms are my thing so I knew I was going to rock my patent leather platform oxfords. Oh, and I am obsessed with fishnet socks, they are one of my favorite things to wear.

Second Serving:

The Cocktail: Overcoming – Grey Goose Vodka + Martini and Rossi Rosso Vermouth + Blackberry + Chili + Cinnamon. This had a little kick of spice to it, but the sweetness balanced the flavor out.

The Wine: Bairrada Tinto ‘FP’ Baga 2017 Red | Portugal.  Typically I’m not a red type of girl, but I actually enjoyed this one.

The Course: Asado | Argentina – Ribeye + Cippolini Onions + Shishitos + Chimichurri

I don’t like “pink” meat, but I made an exception to my rule. It was seasoned and cooked to perfection, I will likely not do this again but it was so worth it.

Sambal Udang | Malaysia – Shrimp +Tofu + Lemongrass + Fermented Chile + Tomato

This shrimp was so damn good, I could have legit eaten the entire plate. What I was not having was the tofu, nope I don’t do meat substitutes. I need food that has parents and lineage and such.

Meet Christine, she was my seat buddy.  She has such a dope personality, I love meeting new people that are just out to have a good time and connect with new folks.

Third Serving:

The Cocktail: Expresso Martini – Grey Goose Vodka + Espresso + Coffee Liqueur + Fleur de Sel

I’m not a coffee drinker so Espresso was too rich for me. I love the creativity of the cocktail and if you are a coffee drinker you would be all over this.

Mi + Cha

The Wine: Samos “Anthemis” Sweet Muscat 2008 | Greece

I love a sweet smooth wine, and that is exactly what this was. It made me feel rich. Ha!

The Course: Sticky Toffee Pudding | England – Fig Cake + Toffee Sauce + Whipped Cream

Generally I would look at the ingredients and say hell no. However, I was there was the experience and I’m so glad I experienced this one. It was sweet but so damn delicious, it was warm too so I just kept eating it. It was the perfect blend of crunch yet soft.

New friend alert, Jonelle was my other seat mate at the event. She was on my right and we had a ball cackling during the event. We had to take a picture because we are dope and we had bomb red lips.

You go to the coolest events. I feel your pain on parking. It’s gotten pretty bad in Nashville too. Those drinks and food looked freaking amazing. I love that you’re always surrounded by such great/empowering women.

    • MimiCuteLips

Thanks, I love that. Parking can ruin everything, it is certainly out of control. I have just gone home at times. I love meeting and connecting with people. They give me such energy.

  2. Kita Bryant

Good food and drinks this is my kind of night. That outfit is cute too the shoes I need.

  3. Stacie Branson

You look fly as always! Love everything about this event. The drinks, the menu and how intimate it was. I would love to be your seatmate one day.

Ooh, Overcoming sounds like my type of drink. When I ate meat, I took my steaks medium well. I don’t like my beef overcooked. These days, Sambal Udang is up my alley. It sounds like you had a heck of a good time enjoying some amazing food.

    • MimiCuteLips

They always say that medium well is the correct way to cook meat. I’m not exactly there yet, but I might give it a shot a little more often.

  6. Kiwi

Look if I ever had to move and see which city is always throwing top notch events like atlanta I would definitely move around the DMV area. What a well executed and elegant event!

  7. Holly

I really like your outfit. You look so pretty. That shrimp looks soooo good!!! You always go to some nice events.

  8. Eva

Okay now this is real grown folks eating and drinking! I used to be a big vodka fan, but since switched to more rums. These cocktails are making me think I need to revisit my old friend!

    • MimiCuteLips

It was so grown up and I loved that about the vibe. I can’t recall the last time I went to a sit down dinner type of event. I used to be a vodka girl, now it is just wine.
