Hey Cuties,
We are soaking up the last month of summer, and getting some travel in. School starts in September and we aren’t ready for the rigid schedule that comes with it. We took a family vacation to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The Manchild and I hadn’t been in ten years, and LittleCuteLips had never been.
Are you ready for all the Myrtle Beach fun? Myrtle Beach is roughly around an 8-hour road-trip from the DMV; we made it in 6.5 hours. The kids watched movies, played on their devices, and played cards. I took the first leg of the trip and Babe brought us all in.
We spent the bulk of our vacation at the beach. Duh! The kids can’t get enough of the water. They learned to boogie board and everything. While I’m not about the beach life the way they are it was nice to see them in action. For me the beach is about a cute swimsuit, laying out, snacks, and snapping pictures.
This is what they did most of the time. LittleCuteLips can’t swim yet but she wanted to do everything the boys were doing. They let her and she was fearless the entire time. It made me nervous and proud that she is so open to trying something new. I’m sure having her bodyguards around made it even easier. She knows they aren’t going to let anything happen to her.
My son is part fish I swear, he is at his happiest when he is in the water.
What fun is a trip to the beach if you can’t dig into the sand.
I braided up LittleCuteLips hair into 73 small box braids. They are the perfect style for the beach. I washed and rinsed them to get rid of the saltwater. I made her wear a swim cap when she started boogie boarding.
After splashing around we checked out the things that Myrtle Beach had to offer. They have so much to do and it was relatively close to our hotel. Here we are at Pier 14, they have a Restaurant & Lounge and a pier. It cost a dollar to walk out on the pier, I’m not sure why exactly. People were standing on the pier fishing but we just wanted to check out the view.
Not pictured is the fun we had a Broadway at the Beach. It is filled with shops, eateries, dope vendors, and an amusement park. I wish I had footage of the 4-way slide race we had. It was epic. I was focused on vacation and tunning out the rest of the world, so I didn’t take as many pictures and I normally would.

L: Doc Antle’s Tiger Preservation R: The Track
We stumbled upon Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach because I wanted ice cream; it turned out to be quite an interesting place. They had eateries, shops, a boardwalk, and Doc Antle’s T.I.G.E.R.S. Preservation Station. Yup! The face you made is the face I made when I saw it. It just doesn’t sound like a place you would have in the middle of this shopping/dining area. Well, we are both wrong because they did. They have adult and baby tigers, the babies were so freaking cute. It is free to see them, but if you want to hold one or take pictures it will cost you.
We found a lot of fun at The Track, it is a small Family Fun Park. They had electric go-karts and that was our first time riding them. Love! They are quiet and fast and there are no fumes. Everyone needs to switch to the electric version. We rode around both tracks, and the kids got on the bumper boats. It was good fun.
This vacation was just what we needed. A lot of laughs, no schedule, new adventures, making memories, eating well, and soaking up the sun. I forgot how much Myrtle Beach fun was available to us. We still didn’t get to do a lot of things.

Fireworks in the rain? Sign us up.
Our last night in Myrtle Beach was 4th of July. We spent the first half of the day at the beach and after we left it began to rain. It rained most of the day, however, the fireworks show was un-bothered and so were we. Luckily we were fairly prepared for a hilarious night we won’t forget. We gathered the two big golf umbrellas we already had and added our new beach umbrella into the mix. We had to get the Manchild a sweatshirt but the rest of us already had one, and we also grabbed two beach blankets. With all of those things in tow, we headed to the beach for the show.
As hard as it was raining the beach was still PACKED OUT! We weren’t the only fools committed. We made a nice tent with all of the umbrellas. Pulled our portable chairs into a huddle, and put the blankets across our legs. It was showtime, we were ready, the show was beautiful and we had a good time. It was such a funny experience we had to take an usie. The ONLY thing I care about on the 4th is fireworks.
At Myrtle Beach, they do fireworks every Tuesday and Friday at 10 PM.
While in Myrtle Beach we checked out WonderWorks for the first time. That was such an experience that it deserves its own blog post. There is still Myrtle Beach fun to be had so we will have to do this again.

I am so happy your family had fun there! I love Myrtle I need to mKe a trip. Back so much good food there!
Thanks, we had a good time. I am all about good food.
Myrtle Beach is still in the top 10 list places in the US that we’ve been to. My kids still ask if we can go back soon. I just want to go back so I can get to Duplin Winery and an all you can eat seafood buffet. We’re looking forward to our family vacation in a couple of weeks too, but we’re going when everyone is back in school because we can do it at the moment. Lord knows when we’ll get this chance again.
I really wanted seafood, but my son has a severe allergy so we didn’t go. The seafood buffets are incredible though. Soak up the peace with everyone else in school. That sounds like the perfect time.
I’ve never been to Myrtle Beach so this list is perfect. My family would love the fireworks. Glad y’all had fun.
I’m a sucker for fireworks, they make me feel like a kid again. They never get old.
I am obsessed with the beach!
I have never been to Myrtle Beach but it sounds fun. I love trips like this where you get to do a variety of activities.
The beach grew on me this time. I got in the water deeper than I ever have. I usually hard pass at my calfs.
Myrtle Beach was a forgotten gem, I forgot how much there was to do. We had a week of time and that still wasn’t enough to do everything.
This looks fun! I remember going on a road trip to Myrtle Beach as a kid as well. It’s a great family destination.
With all the drama with flying four people, I’ve forgotten how good a road trip is.
Aw, now I want to go to Myrtle Beach. I see commercials for this all the time. I’ll have to add this to my list of places to visit.
Stacie it is such a gem. There is so much to do for all ages.

Yes, there is so much to do. The kids never said they were bored.
I absolutely love Myrtle Beach! It’s close enough to drive but far enough to fill like a trip and the beaches are beautiful. I love trips that you can do with no real agenda!
