I had the most amazing night at Fête Posh Prom for Moms. So dope right? This was an idea and event put on by Katryce of The Funny Momma. Yes, a legit black tie fancy, leave your man/woman and kids at home and come out for a night of fun. Y’all it was more than I expected. Let me show you what you missed out on. Also note, there will be a Fete Posh 2020.
Fête Posh Prom for Moms
Fete Posh Prom for Moms was designed to bring moms from all walks of life together for a night to dine, dance, drink and connect! A black-tie event fully catered and featured an open bar and a dessert display. No prom is complete without a DJ, dance floor, and of course, a Prom Queen. No boys allowed. They had three Zaddy’s on hand if you wanted a date in your prom picture. That was their only job all night long. I went for a solo pic but they put those Zaddy’s to work.
There were so many photo ops all over the venue, I didn’t take advantage of them all but I got in a few. This was a safe space for Mom’s to come and let their hair down. I hate when people say women don’t get along. Clearly they are hanging with the wrong women because that is not the case. Some Mom’s came with a Mom date and others came solo. If you came into the party you couldn’t tell who knows who and who doesn’t. Why? Because we were all committed to having a good time and genuinely connecting with one another, and that is exactly what happened.
I didn’t know what look I was going for, I just figured I would keep looking for dresses until I found one that spoke to my spirit. I ended up finding said dress on Amazon. Fete Posh was the day after my 40th birthday so I was all about doing the absolute most. I ended up going for all black everything which is different for me. I paired it with a smokey eye which was bomb. I also had jet black hair, that I absolutely hated.
This is Katryce [middle] and her squad, they put on this dope event for us. They thought of everything, I appreciate a well-executed event.
A party ain’t a party without some drank, and we had plenty. The open bar was sponsored by Tito’s Vodka, they got the party started and kept it going.
We had cotton candy, talk about our inner child coming out. Spun Cotton Candy Art provided sugary clouds of deliciousness for us. You could even top them off with fun treats or add a faux butterfly to it.
Photobooth fun thanks to Focus Photography ? I always enjoy a good photo booth, I took another with my bestie with some of their cute props.
They had vendors for us to shop, you know we love to buy stuff. All of these businesses were owned by black women. Yup! We supported our own.

What is Prom without a Prom Queen? Voting took place prior to the event and it required people to vote for you. Very much like you did in High School. She didn’t come to play with us either, she was dressed like a queen.
This was my absolute favorite part of the night. Before the dance floor got some real work they passed out hospital socks? Why, because we all took them from the hospital when we had our babies. Ohhhh, they were so smart.
We warmed up the dance floor a little bit. We sang the best of the 90’s and 2000’s at the top of our lungs. I promise you we all remembered the lyrics to Lil Kim’s Hardcore album. When we weren’t rapping we were singing. No party is complete unless you swag surf, so we did that too in the name of Black Mom Magic and Sisterhood. We are our sisters keeper, even if we just met her five minutes ago.
The dance floor was on fire, I won’t say what was going on but there is a reason everyone had their phone out. If you caught my insta-stories then you saw it too. Just know this was lit AF.
