Even though the temperature outside reads 80 degrees it still feels. In years past the family would go to Cox Farm in Virginia for a little fall fun. This year I made huge plans to go to this really nice Farm in VA with my girlfriend, her children, my children and my nieces. It was going to be a good time. Unfortunately, we weren't able to do that because my son has had a lapse in behavior judgment. Second grade is so stressful... Since I'd invited my nieces we had to do something. So I opted to go to a local farm; I'd heard about here in MD. The farm was just okay; it is very small and doesn't have a lot going on. The other farm we are familiar with was huge with a lot going on. Since my son had gotten in trouble in school it was just what the doctor ordered. He should thank his cousins honestly. Either way, I wanted the kids to have a good time and I believe they did. This was Nori's first time going to a farm of any kind so it had to be special.
With an infant at home, Babe and I have been doing "Day Dates". We've done several activities outside of my box and today was no different. Today's adventure took us to the Gun Range compliments of Groupon. We headed down to our local Gun Range (Maryland Small Arms, Upper Marlboro, MD) for a little bit of fun. We arrived and first you pick out your gun, we went with a Glock 17 9mm handgun then lady behind the counter gave me a tutorial on how to put the bullets in the clip, put the clip in the gun, how to cock the gun back, and how to pull the trigger. They make all of this look real easy in the movies, not so much in real life.
This week I decided to finally Embrace the Camera. I have a ton of pictures of my children but I don't have many with me included. I'm going to try and do this every week, which is probably more than my poor time management schedule can handle but we shall see. My first "Embrace the Camera" is an evening stroll/ride I took with the family this week. We are getting a sneak peak of fall and wanted to get out and take advantage. Maybe I will finally start working on dropping this gut; maybe not I still have time...
Hey Cuties, I've fallen all the way off the wagon; I guess becoming a Mom of two really took a lot out of me. I don't mind, I enjoyed adjusting to having two kids. Everything my daughter does is new and exciting and I wanted to give her all of my attention. REAL LIFE IS HAPPENING! Let me catch you up on all the things we've been doing. Here is a season in review...
I've been meaning to write this blog since I was pregnant and decorating the nursery for my baby girl. Well life happened and my baby girl is now 6 months and I'm just getting to write this blog. There are several little things I still need to add but here goes. Inspiration for the room: I wanted bold colors because I'm not a fan of pastels. My Babe didn't want a "pink princess palace" (my favorite color is hot pink). We both wanted a modern nursery that could easily be a toddler's room as well. I didn't want something all matchy-matchy and I wanted to utilize different prints and bring them all together. With those things in mind I set out to create the ideal world for our little girl. I finally decided I wanted the colors to be grey white and yellow with splashes of hot pink.
A new year is upon us as while the last several years have been good to me I'm really looking forward to this one. For 2011 I had two main goals (one professional and one personal) the first was accomplished in April 2011 and the second was accomplished November 2011. Check and check!!! I'm not a big fan of "resolutions" as I believe we should all strive to be better people on a daily basis. You don't need a "new year" to make that happen. Goals are healthy and I think it helps keep things in perspective. This year I've set two professional goals and two personal goals.
I haven't posted a new blog since the spring, so I thought I would do a summer wrap up. May: I kicked my summer off with a girl's trip to South Beach, Miami. The weather was perfect, the sky was clear, the beach was refreshing and the morning sunrise on the roof of the hotel was breathtaking, and the food was OUTSTANDING!! We had the best hotel view ever and prime picking for people watching. We even had a few celebrity sightings Ciara, Raheem Devaughn, R.L., Floyd Mayweather, and Amare Stoudemire.
It is that time of year, the time that we honor our Mothers, Grandmother's, God Mother's and Mother figures. It is MOTHER'S DAY! It is my annual tradition to host a Tea Party. Last Year's Tea was a blast, while it was my first it turned out rather nicely. This year I had, even more, ideas on how to improve upon my tea party. There were a few things I wanted to incorporate this year but I had a lot going (I was taking swimming lesson) on and I didn't get to all the tiny details. All of my guests enjoyed the setup and had a really good time. I can't wait to make it even better next year.
After 31+ years I've accomplished a goal I've had for a long time. I learned to swim. I didn't have a fear of water but I had a fear of water going up my nose. I didn't know how to breathe/not breathe underwater at all. To go underwater I had to pinch my nose closed to go underwater. Since I didn't know how to swim I made sure my son learned.
I don’t typically blog about my personal life but I felt led to do so… On January 20th my life was forever changed… my mother was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. During the car ride back home, I put on my brave face and tried not to act differently; when in reality our lives were forever changed. Changed because this is something we need to fight aggressively. Changed because this will always be a concern with my mom; changed because my sister and I need to be sure to get breast exams much earlier as we might be a little more susceptible to breast cancer.
