Hey Cuties,
It is a fab #FatSnacks Friday up in this piece. Today’s #FatSnacks post is thanks in part to Memphis, Tennessee and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. They did your girl all kinds of solid in the eating department.
Thanks to St. Jude for a three day all-expense paid experience of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, National Civil Rights Museum & Memphis, TN.
St. Jude took care of all of our meals and they did a great job. Not only did they keep our guts feel they gave us the Memphis experience. I loved it too.
Lunch Day 1: Central BBQ
If you are going to Memphis, then you must get the BBQ. That is like coming to Maryland and not getting crabs. Always check out the things a place is known for. With that said St. Jude took us to Central BBQ for lunch, I had the Pork Sandwich with coleslaw. My BBQ sandwiches aren’t right unless they have coleslaw. I went with a side of mac & cheese because I was in the south. It was just okay, it didn’t taste like somebodies grandma made it. The BBQ was everything, that thing was all kinds of good. I washed it down with a Root Beer because I need bubbles.
This is a Alex’s Chef Salad topped with chicken. It looked so good she allowed me to snap a picture so I could share with you. You can get this salad topped with pork, beef, turkey or chicken. This is my kind of salad.
Dinner Day 1: Majestic Grille
The Majestic Grille was a cute spot in downtown Memphis. We took the trolley over and had the time of our lives when a group of 60+ old folks got on the trolley. They put us to shame y’all, they were so live and so turned up we laughed non-stop. When they got on we gave up our seats so they could sit down. They had jokes for days and even booked the only guy blogger in our group. Grandma whipped out a pen and paper old school style and got the digits. hahahaha Later for sliding in ones DM, she wasn’t about that life.
We kicked dinner off with cocktails; I went for the French 75: 1930, The Savoy Cocktail Book Beefeater 24, Lemon Juice, and Simple Syrup & Sparkling White. This was a really sweet drink, almost too sweet for my taste.
I started out the Mixed Greens Salad: Tomatoes, cucumber, red onions, feta cheese & red wine vinaigrette. It was yummy and extra fresh.
For my entree I went with the Grilled Salmon: Rosemary infused honey glaze, jasmine rice and sauteed seasonal vegetables. OMG it was so freaking good. They made it to perfect, plus broccoli is my favorite vegetable ever.
Dessert is the best part of the meal; I didn’t get any really good pictures because of cocktails and mood lighting. We had Signature Dessert Glasses: Key Lime Pie, Carrot Cake, Lemon Cheesecake, Chocolate Mousse, Tiramisu and Strawberry Shortcake. I went for the Carrot Cake.
Domino’s is a huge St. Jude sponsor as you can see. I had a family emergency back home as we were walking in so I didn’t get to snap a picture. We had bacon, eggs, and homemade biscuits. It was good, but so much going on I didn’t get to enjoy it like I wanted to and needed to.
Lunch Day 2: Lunch was had at the Kay Kafe, this is the lunch spot inside of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. We couldn’t take pictures because it was filled with employees and patients.
The Kay Kafe is a huge cafeteria set up with a variety of stations. Stations include salad, sushi, comfort food, dessert, etc. If you want it they have it, they even have a station that rotates their menu. I decided to go for that one. It had a New Orleans theme which was perfect for me. I got the Shrimp Po Boy with coleslaw and curly fries. I’m in Memphis so I had to get the sweet tea; it was so good I wanted more. I’m pretty sure I have the sugars now, but it was so refreshing. I got oatmeal cookies that melted in your mouth for dessert. The chips were for a snack a bit later and tea bags because I’m an old lady and live for my hot tea.
Dinner Day 2: We headed across town to the Alchemy.
The Alchemy specializes in cocktails and they didn’t disappoint. The spot had a really nice look and the feel was very inviting.
This drink was so freaking good; I plan to make it at home. I couldn’t get enough of it. Oh Clementine: Vodka, Orange, Strawberry & Lemon
Alchemy is a small plate, tapas type of deal so I had to get multiple things. Everything was good enough to lick your plate although that is poor etiquette. Macaroni and Cheese with House-Made Chorizo, Cheddar Cheese, and Panko Bread Crumbs.
Tacos & Mac & Cheese generally isn’t a thing but they were both amazing. Gringos Tacos with the Fish of the Day, Salsa Fresca, Guacamole, Cotija Cheese, and Lime
These Roasted Brussels Sprouts with House-Made Bacon, Apples, Spiced Pecans, and Brown Sugar Vinaigrette were so pretty and so good. A couple of bloggers ordered them for dinner.
Christine enjoyed her Pan Seared Shrimp with Chorizo Butter and a Garlic Crouton
I can’t say that I’ve ever seen grilled cheese like this before, but it was perfect for dipping. Grilled Cheese with White Cheddar, Sharp Cheddar, and Parmesan Cheeses and Roasted Tomato Soup
We ate ourselves silly; there was no room for dessert.
I came I ate and it was good. I would love to visit Memphis again because I didn’t even scratch the surface of great places to eat.

Sorry Artney, I hope you get something just as amazing for lunch.
Everything looks great! Even as a vegan, and I can tell the “fat snacks” were on point. I love Memphis, and I always have a great time whenever I am there.
Aisha, we had a vegan in our group. She ate just as well as we did.
Dem Drinks! Dem Tacos! Dem SWEETS! I’m in heaven! It looks like fast snack Friday was one for the books!
Yes girl, I got a good meal but polishing it up with a great cocktail is king.
Ooh, that grilled cheese though! Looks like you ate well sis. I like a good pork sandwich with coleslaw too.
Stacie, if I’m not eating well then life has been wasted.
You had me a grilled cheese & tomato soup. Let’s not even talk about the mac-n-cheese from Alchemy. I want some right now! You and your #fatsnacks rule!
Hahahahahhahahaha, thanks love.
Okay, I think you have officially convinced me that a trip to Memphis is in order. Between your post last week about the Lorriane and this food here – I’ll be booking that trip soon, lol! Thanks for sharing your eats with us! They looked too good!
Yay, Latoya please report back.
Memphis BBQ is amazing! And I would love to visit Alchemy. From the Brussel sprouts to the tacos, it all looks delicious.
It really was, I need to go back to Alchemy for sure.
A pork sandwich and macaroni in cheese sounds like my version of heaven. Not so much on my diet, but definitely worth splurging for!
Heaven right here on earth.
Yummy… grill cheese and tomato soup is one of my favourite warm me up treat meals!
I haven’t had it in ages!
Those dishes all look so rich, how did you pick just one?
That is the perfect fall winter snack.
I’m so glad I didn’t have to pick just one.
Well, you had me at the roasted Brussels sprouts. I am a firm believe that when one goes on vacation that they should be allowed to eat what they want. I know keeping a watch on you waist is a big then but then there is no point of vacay. You listed some awesome dishes that I am going to have to try next time I am in Memphis.
Yes Dee, I rocks with you.
All of these foods look so amazing! They’re making my mouth water just looking at the pictures.
Right Lisa, I feel the same way and I was there.
The drinks look really delicious so I would go for all the cocktails and appetizers I do believe.
Great choice Dana, my kind of gal.
You always seem to find the most delicious food at restaurants! I swear I need to follow you around for a couple of months and just enjoy the food that you eat LOL.
Jeanette I think the food finds me. lol I bet we would have a ball.
They do have a lot of great food places in Memphis. I would surely enjoy visiting this joints one after another.
Yes, hit them all Franc.
I’m over here drooling although I’ve been pigging out since I’m on vacay lol. St. Jude definitely keeps you full when you visit. I think the Kay Kafe was my favorite spot just because it’s part of the campus.
Yes, I appreciate St. Jude for keeping my gut in mind. I love that the doctors, staff and patients all eat together.
My goodness!! All that good food!! I was about to make me a salad for lunch and know I’m having second thoughts. ?????
Nikka stick with the salad girl, but slide some meet and bbq sauce on it. lol
Geez, it is a good thing I read this post AFTER lunch. The bbq and macaroni and cheese reminds me of our recent stops in NC. A warm and fuzzy feeling, that is for sure.
Oh Jenn I love eating in North Carolina too. That is a good state to eat.
I’d definitely have to get that chef salad topped with pork. Yum! Everything at The Alchemy looked amazing too.
Alchemy was my favorite for sure. hahahahaha
Wow this really looks like a great collection of the best places to eat in Memphis. I will have to try one whenever I am able to travel there 🙂

Olivia I feel you, quality mac & cheese is like gold.
All of this food looks amazing and this is a great list. I am keeping it handy if I get over to that side of the state.
Please do Gwendolyn.
A crap load of yummy food. I’ve wanted to visit Alchemy. I’m happy to hear they live up to their name. I love a well-cooked Brussel sprout.
It is a must Kim, everything about that place is good.
Shoutout to St.Jude for taking care of you and other bloggers. So happy brands are really utilizing our talents and sponsoring these amazing experiences, especially for a greater cause! I love the Alchemy, reminds me of The Chemist in Myrtle Beach…and I want a Gringo Taco now!
Major shout out, they know how to roll out the red carpet. After I read your post the Alchemy totally reminded me of The Chemist.
This post makes us feel soooo hungry! We will definitely consider this once we get the chance to go to Memphis! 🙂

Yum… they look so tasty!! I love the brussels sprouts and tacos!
They were perfect.
These all sound like great places to eat for sure. I love how yummy the brussel sprouts with bacon look and the tacos look delicious too. The mix drink with orange, strawberry, lemon, and vodka sounds so good too. These for sharing these awesome places in Memphis.

Christie said it was amazing.
Everything looks great! The Gringos tacos and the brussels sprouts would definitely need to be in my belly.
Those tacos were Bae.
Living near the city of Memphis and living here all my 28 years. St Jude is the best thing this city has to offer to the world.
I totally agree.
Your pictures are beauiful!!! All is perfect. Ilike the Alchemy the best because the cocktails there look delicious and they have Gringos Tacos with the Fish of the Day. Thanks for your sharing
