LittleCuteLips and I were elated to attend Mommy En Blanc again. This was DistrictMotherHued’s third year and they have kicked it up several notches since the inaugural event. It was a Girl’s Day out for us since the Manchild is now a teen and uninterested. It was a peacock worthy strut of Melanin Moms with their littles in tow. We felt like the rock stars that we are as onlookers complimented us and asked what was going on. You don’t just see 200+ moms on parade, but honey the revolution was being televised!
Mommy En Blanc is a pop-up picnic experience (founded & produced by @missnocepr & @chocl8fashnpr of @districtmotherhued ) at a secret location in Washington D.C! Moms and their children, dressed in all white, picnic in a public park displaying creative, sometimes themed and gorgeous picnic settings! This all-white picnic is a party where mom tribes are built, Moms break bread with other moms, we are free to dance the night away, participate in family-friendly activities and celebrate our melanin!!! This year’s event was sponsored by @dove, @yardsparkdc, and @horaceanddickies.
I’ve become a sucker for a balloon installation, they add such a nice touch to a space. This one was done by @magicalmomentsbymick , LittleCuteLips snapped this picture for me, she was learning to use my big camera. I wanted a tight shot, so this doesn’t capture the full essence of this balloon display.
This was another Mommy En Blanc in the cards for us. We snapped this picture with @pixelstrut, to commemorate this day. They make it really easy too, you take a picture and they text it or email it to you.
There was so much more taking place that I didn’t mention. Mommy En Blanc is a one of a kind experience. It is unlike anything you will ever experience I promise. As black women, we need safe spaces to just be. We need safe spaces for our children to just be. That is exactly what we had and we celebrated one another the entire time. They provided beverages from @drinkbravazzi we had a DJ the entire time, he was killing it too with some 90’s/2000 jams. There may have been a hint of twerk taking place when the beat dropped; allegedly anyway. Another dop touch was a choreographed dance to Beyonce’s Before I Let Go. A dope Mom in the Mom Tribe created a dance routine for us, they send us the video in advance so we could practice. Shoutout to @infiniteartisticmovementllc for making us feel like we were live on stage. They also blessed up with dope swag bags, it had goodies inside for moms and the kids. *Whispers* DistrictMotherHued swag bags are legendary, I’m just saying. Gift Bag Sponsors: @dove@horaceanddickies, @gingersroot, @angrybirdsmovie, @pouredlife.candles, @capitalcityco, @browndages, and @_epiceveryday.
Also, note their events literally sell out in minutes. YOU STUDY LONG, YOU STUDY WRONG! Join the tribe and wallow in this melanin magic with us at @districtmotherhued. Friendships have formed, support is given, and then we turn up together.
