Hey Cuties,
A new California Tortilla has settled into Washington, DC and I had to have my face in the place. They are a fast-casual Mexican-inspired type of restaurant. They have something that caters to all dietary needs; burritos, bowls, street tacos, quesadillas and salads.
This post is sponsored by California Tortilla, I received a complimentary meal.

California Tortilla: 1809 E Street NW, Washington, DC in the General Service Administration (GSA) Building
This location is inside of GSA building and one block from George Washington University campus. California Tortilla has partnered with the University and they are an official GWorld Merchant. This means students can use their student ID card for payment. So smart!!!!
They are open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. through 8 p.m.
You can go for healthier taste or you can get down and dirty with the others. Carb load if you will. California Tortilla serves fresh, made-to-order dishes all grounded in traditional Mexican cuisine and combined with imaginative flavor combinations from around the world, such as Korean BBQ Burrito, signature blackened fish tacos, and the California Sunset Bowl.
This was the first time I’ve gone out to eat all by myself, it was a good first step. It isn’t exactly Metro friendly; you have your walk cut out for you from McPherson Square on the Blue/Orange line. Wear your flats and you will be fine.
This wall of Flame is a California Tortilla theme for sure.
If you like spice then this is your spot. You have options on top of options on top of options.
Each restaurant features a Wall-of-Flame with over 70 distinct hot sauces ranging from mild to setting your soul on fire. The great thing is it allows guests to customize the spiciness of their meal. There are levels to their sauce game, some of the names are incredibly hilarious; even if you don’t like spice just laugh at the labels.
I put it work with this Classic Burrito: Rice, black beans, lettuce, Jack cheese, salsa and sour cream with your choice of grilled mesquite chicken, steak, pork carnitas, taco beef, fish or farm-fresh veggies.
I couldn’t just have a burrito, so I had fresh guacamole, chips and a root beer soda with a shot of vanilla. Not pictured is a delicious cookie that I also shoved in my face.
California Tortilla is all about quality and fresh ingredients and I appreciate that. The restaurant doesn’t have freezers. They make everything in small batches throughout the day. The guacamole, sauces and dressings are all made in-house. I’m talking Hass avocados, Roma tomatoes, all-white meat chicken breast and grass-fed beef.
With the holiday in full swing some like to go for a non-traditional route; California Tortilla caters.

Lisa you are right, it is so freaking hard to find good guac. I enjoyed this one.
I have never heard of California Tortilla, there are not any in my area. It look like a really cool place and it reminds me of a Moe’s Grill.

It is a great choice.
Mimi, you are my kind of girl! First, the hot sauces, but then you did the root beer WITH vanilla? I almost had to put my laptop to the side and make a run to the 711 lol. If I’m ever in the area again (which I will be) and I come across them, I’ll know to give them a try! I’d love to see some of those labels.
Girl Rootbeer with Vanilla is my thing. I love that the soda machines come with options. Oh you will have a good time, set up a little taste test.
