DIY Minecraft Party

Hello DIY Minecraft Party, all my now 10 year old son talks about is Minecraft. He would watch Minecraft How To Videos on YouTube for hours if we allowed him. I must admit I've never played the game and until I decided to make it the theme for his 10th birthday party, I didn't know much about the game. It's like the digital version of Lego's but it has more of a Nintendo pixel like design.

Since I was unfamiliar with the game I had research to do in order to pull this off. I also consulted my son on my findings to make sure I was accurately representing. His image is on the line apparently and I'm bucking for Best Mom ever. This is what I came up with.

Easy DIY Superhero Cape

Last weekend I took full advantage of our first cold weekend in the DC area. We turned on the heat, laid around the house and I finished up a few of many craft projects I've started and abandoned. Story of my life.

One of my first projects was to finish the kids Superhero Capes. (Easy DIY Superhero Cape) My children are typical and think they can fly and save the world. Well you can't walk around with all of these super powers and have no cape to show for it. So here we are.

From Baby to Big Girl: Room Makeover

The minute my daughter turned 2 (Jan.) I was ready to give her room a makeover. She had outgrown her nursery and was now a big girl. This means we totally need a big girl room to go with this new phase of life. As eager as I was it would take several months before I actually did it. She would climb out of her crib in the middle of the night but couldn't get back in. SMH We took the front off her crib for about a month and that helped but it was time for the crib to go. While we didn't agree on the exact bed we both wanted a loft bed.

Easy Denim DIY Project

Yall know I love me a DIY and between Facebook and Pinterest I get all kinds of ideas. I'm the girl that is out and about and will see something and quickly say "Oh I can make that". So here is me "making it".  I used this tutorial HERE from Mimi G Style, it was super easy to do. I'm not big on measuring, and I don't own the tools she had so I kind of eye ball things and go from there. My tools aren't typical but they get the job done.

Organize Your Space: Do more with less!

One of my goals for 2014 is to get organized, I used to be a really organized person and I don't know what happened. Actually I do, life has been happening and I was all over the place.  For real my problem is I am a serial crafter and I have so many ideas in this head of mine that I frequently try and do everything I think of and go all out in doing so. Just like that super long run on sentence this is how busy my brain is.

Nori’s 1st Bee Day

Three months prior to LittleCuteLips birthday I began shopping around my creative ideas for a birthday party theme.  The only thing I knew was that I wanted a DIY (do it yourself) type of thing.  After a lot of Google searching I decided to go with a "Bee Day" theme.  I began creating an idea folder of all kinds of things I wanted to have/use/create to make this party a hit for my baby girls first birthday celebration.I really wish I had done a better job at snapping pictures. I was trying to live for the moment and didn't quite capture things the way I would have liked. Oh well!
With that said here we go...

DIY Costume: Owl

Hey Cuties,

This year I was really excited about Halloween a little more than usual. I now have "Costume Power" again. My son has been selecting his own costume for years now. I can't pick out little cute costumes that I love for him. That aint cool! Now that I have a little one I get "Costume Power" for at least the next 3 years. EXCITED!!!!

A Nest for Nori Michelle

I've been meaning to write this blog since I was pregnant and decorating the nursery for my baby girl. Well life happened and my baby girl is now 6 months and I'm just getting to write this blog. There are several little things I still need to add but here goes. Inspiration for the room: I wanted bold colors because I'm not a fan of pastels.  My Babe didn't want a "pink princess palace" (my favorite color is hot pink). We both wanted a modern nursery that could easily be a toddler's room as well. I didn't want something all matchy-matchy and I wanted to utilize different prints and bring them all together. With those things in mind I set out to create the ideal world for our little girl.  I finally decided I wanted the colors to be grey white and yellow with splashes of hot pink.

2nd Annual Mother’s Day Tea

It is that time of year, the time that we honor our Mothers, Grandmother's, God Mother's and Mother figures. It is MOTHER'S DAY! It is my annual tradition to host a Tea Party. Last Year's Tea was a blast, while it was my first it turned out rather nicely. This year I had, even more, ideas on how to improve upon my tea party. There were a few things I wanted to incorporate this year but I had a lot going (I was taking swimming lesson) on and I didn't get to all the tiny details.  All of my guests enjoyed the setup and had a really good time. I can't wait to make it even better next year.
