This year I was really excited about Halloween a little more than usual. I now have “Costume Power” again. My son has been selecting his own costume for years now. I can’t pick out little cute costumes that I love for him. That aint cool! Now that I have a little one I get “Costume Power” for at least the next 3 years. EXCITED!!!!
With all this power I started browsing the web early for the cutest little girl costume ever. Now don’t get me wrong, I found some super cute costumes but they came with a really not cute price. I am not going to pay $50+ for a costume for my 9 month old that probably won’t want the crap on her anyway. That didn’t stop me from browsing though, now I was browsing for costume ideas. I found some really good ‘do it yourself’ (DIY) ideas. However, some were better suited for a baby that was walking. We aren’t there yet. I continued to look and found a sushi costume (Nori is a type of seaweed, would have been cute right.) and then I saw an owl. I was hooked from then on. I began searching for DIY owl costumes and there were plenty out there. I had no idea. I then decided I would combine all the things I liked about the costumes and make it my own. That is just what I did.
I started with the costume template I found here and then went to work. I wasn’t feeling the mask because I knew my baby was not going to keep anything on her face. So I browsed for even more costumes to find some mask options. That would be the last thing I’d make so that wasn’t a big deal. So here we go…
