.Hey Cuties,
Halloween is 16 days away, and while I hate the the scary part of Halloween. However, I adore a good DIY costume. I have made several over the years, but Minnie Mouse has be a constant one for me. LittleCuteLips and I want to Disney on Ice and we believe in looking the part so I needed a look. I found a cute shirt for her at Target for $9.99 so I wanted a cute look for cheap too.
I check the stores a few days before the event and found nothing in the price point I wanted to be in. While in H&M I saw a plan gray sweatshirt with a small red heart on it. It was only $9.99 and I was sold. I figured I would make a shirt just as I had done in years past. Only this time I did not want to make the same shirt over again.
I went back to my desk and began Googling Minnie Mouse Silhouettes until I found something that I felt was dope enough for my style. I wanted this one to look different than the others. I found this image and I blew it up and printed it out.
Step 1: Cut out your shape. This is my sweatshirt as I purchased it.
Step 2: I cut out my silhouette and traced it onto my sweatshirt using a fine tip Sharpie.
Step 3: I traced the silhouette with black puff paint.
Step 4: I traced the red bow in red puff paint.
For my other shirts I would stop at the silhouette, however for this one it needed more.
Step 5: So I added black rhinestones to the aviator sunglasses.
Step 6: The black rhinestones still were not enough so I added red pearls. Then it was perfect.
I added sequin Minnie mouse ears to complete my look. I was ready for a Disney Girl’s Night Out with LittleCuteLips. I got her shirt from Target.
This could easily be a Halloween costume. It can just be a fun look while you are Trick or Treating with the kids, or while you work the Halloween event at the school or wherever. It is very comfy and cute, and that is always my favorite look.
This was the first shirt I made, to complete a full costume look. Details HERE!
Five years later I re-created this shirt again for myself and one for LittleCuteLips. We went to a Disney Moving screening and wanted to look the part. I let her wear the sequin headband this time. Details HERE!

I LOVE the sweatshirt and t-shirts you made. What a great way to purchase a piece of clothing and make it your own. CUTE!
Thanks, I love to make something my own.
Great job! You did that. I love how you customized it and made it your own.
Thanks, I love to put my own spin on something.
Oh wow, I usually go the iron on route but this looks WAY better. thanks for that tip, I’m going to try it on my next DIY tee.
Give it a go, I never have great luck with iron on. We can teach each other.
That is super duper cute! You are so crafty. I wish I had that bone in me. Maybe I will try making this.
Give it a try, it will be much easier than you think.
You did an amazing job. That shirt looks like it would be sold in stores!
Thanks, I would love for the stores to pick it up. lol
Girl you never cease to amaze me with your DIY skills. This is super dope!
Thanks, I need to push myself to go bigger. I didn’t have much time this Halloween season.
Aw, you girls are too cute with your Minnie Mouse! I love your DIY style sis. I need to get back into it myself.
Thanks, I had taken a break from it. I think I keep fighting my creativity for some reason.
Super cute as always Mimi. I am going to show my daughter. She is pretty crafty so I am sure she can pull this off. She really love Mini.
She totally can, and it does not cost much to make. She might already have a shirt that she can use.
They turned out really good. I love seeing all the DIY Halloween costumes, but I’m always so scared to try creating one myself we just end up having to purchase ours.
Last year I purchased my daughter a costume. She wanted to be a Power Ranger so I let her. But I created a dope Star Wards Storm Trooper that my teen loved. I loved to push the limits with my creativity.
So fun and so up my alley. I want to do a DIY puffy paint project so thanks for the inspiration!
This is a good one, especially with all the Disney work you do.
Wait a Minute! I just assumed you did this with a vinyl machine. This is something I can totally pull off!!! I love it! Thanks for sharing the deets!
Nope! Old fashion free hand, puff paint and beads and you can get your life. lol
This is the cutest DIY ever! I am a huge fan of Minnie Mouse! Thanks for sharing the deets!
Then this is a winner for you as well.
All of these designs are so cute! I need to step my DIY game up!!
Girl, just try it out. You will surprise yourself.
Let me just say that I love DIY projects, but for some reason when it comes to clothes it frightens me because I always feel like I am going to mess it up. My mom, on the other hand, can salvage anything by utilizing it to DIY something better she can wear. I love the Minnie Mouse theme. You are both too cute.
You almost can’t go wrong with you are creating clothes. Think Denise on The Cosby Show when she made Theo the “Gordon Gartrell”. It still worked out.
See, I love this!! Always come out with the most creative stuff and I agreed with others, this look so good like it was sold /bought in the stores. Good job mama’bear!!
I love to push my creativity, sometimes I surprise myself.
