Hey Cuties,
I’m still in Valentine’s Day mode, have you gotten your dude something yet? Are you a satisfied single and doing the Galentine’s Day thing with your girlfriends? If you are like me, it will likely be a family night. Either way that is cool.
Either way, you need something to wear and I’ve got a cute situation for you. First, I did the DIY Pearl Collar that wears much like a necklace. Now I’m doing a DIY Pearl shirt with a focus on the collar. You can really add the pearls wherever you want them.
You need the shirt of your choice, pearls with a flat back and glue. (Substitute option: Pearls, needle, and thread.)
I worked while the collar was still folded down, this allows you to see your working area better. You need to know how many rows you will need. I started with the bottom of my color and I rubbed the glue directly on the collar and then place the pearls one by one. Continue to routine until you finish the first row.
You should have found your groove by now that you’ve finished your first row. Adjust your technique if you necessary and keep moving on to your second row.
By the third row, you will be a full-on expert. As you move along be sure to go back and press the pearls firmly into the fabric.
Your finished product should look something like this. You can do the entire collar all the way around or you can just do each side. It is a super cute way to give new life to a shirt. I’m going to pair this with my DIY Beaded Boyfriend Jeans I made and rock them at fashion week. Stay tuned.
I paired my pearl collar button up with a black off the shoulder top. I loved the way it turned out.
How would you style this up? Chat with me in the comment below or FB, IG or Twitter.
Mimi, this is too cute. I would definitely use this on a pink or black shirt. Thanks for sharing.
That would be really fun.
You just took a plain white button up shirt to the next level! I love it.
Thanks Stacie.
I would have never thought to do this! This would be really cute with dark skinny jeans and a bright colored heel.
Yasssssss!
This is a cute shirt. I love the pearl collar. Such a great idea.
Thanks Ramona, I plan to style it a million different ways.
Fabulous look! You’re giving Martha Stewart a run for her money. This is making me want to go to the nearest Michael’s for supplies!
I’m trying Kirstin, I really am.
Loving this idea for transforming a button up. Adds something different, and you could use other stones or gems besides pearls if you want more color. As always, you killed it.
You totally can Jonna. Even better no one else will have the same outfit as you.
Super cute DIY idea. It easy enough that even I can do it!
You totally can LaShon.
Very cute. What I love is that anyone can make this. Thanks!!
yes Ty, I try to make them rather easy to do.
YOu did an amazing job on this DIY. More importantly this totally looks like your style all the way!
Thanks Kiwi, I love expressing my style. I bleed creativity and I can’t just sit on it.
What an awesome way to class up a plain old shirt. I Love how it came out and I totally need to try this on one of my shirts.
Go for it, you can’t go wrong.
You always come up with the best ideas when it comes to embellishing clothing and shoes. The pearls really add a beautiful touch of class to a plain white shirt. Gorgeous!
Thanks Alli, I try to use things I already have in my home.
Well this is something I would never have thought to do, but I love how easy and simple it is to make. Do you have to hand wash the shirt now after adding the beading?
Candy I would wash it inside out in the washing machine and let it dry flat.
The pearl collar can make a shirt stand out. It’s nice that it’s easy to do and follow.
It totally is Franc.
Awesome fashion statement. You made this simple white shirt look so high end. I have got to try to make one for my daughter, she would love it.
Go for it Chrishelle, you can transform your regular shirt to something fancy.
This is really cute! I used jazz up customer’s stones and studs when I worked in a woman’s boutique in college. It’s a great way to stand out when everyone looks the same these days.
Yes Joanna, you are so right.
Oh wow you are most definitely creative! I would’ve never thought of something like this. It looks awesome. I’m deathly going to have to try something like this on my shirt.
Jeanette, you can’t go wrong. You can use any kind of beads or pearls.
That really brought some bling to an ordinary shirt collar. That looks great to wear out on the town. I love it when you are able to beautify something with stuff you have at home.
That is the best Dawn, I totally agree with you.
What an innovative way to make a basic piece look stunning! I will have to look in my closet for a plain colored blouse that I rarely use and spruce it out a bit. Thanks for the idea.
Totally Annemarie, that is the way to do it. Give new life to something old.
What an adorable way to make that shirt special! It looks like it would be easy too! You look adorable in it 🙂
Thanks Christy, is was super easy.
So this is going on my to-do list! Wouldn’t it be cute on a denim shirt too! I love how dressy it turned out. Your outfit will be so cute for fashion week.
It totally would, I’m obsessed with denim shirts. They go with everything.
That is super cute! I love how you layered it under the off shoulder sweater as well!
Thanks Heidi, it is fun to see how I can style it.
This looks great Mimi. I’m just not that creative to come up with something so cute and so simple.
That is why I am here, to give you the ideas. 😉
This is WAY too cute! I love how simple this idea is but it makes it a whole new peice.
Right, sometimes less is more.
Wow, this is so nice! I’ll do this too to redesign my outfits! Thanks for the idea!
Anosa, you can make something old new again.
This is such a pretty addition to the shirt! I love how th softness of the shirt is paired with the rest of the outfit.
Thanks Emily.
I have some of that glue laying around! What a great way to spice up a shirt!
I use that glue for almost everything Kita. It is perfect for this.
This came out just gorgeous! But, what is your secret to E6000 glue? I can never get that stuff to work right. It drives me crazy.
Thanks Stephanie, I use the medium size tube. They have tiny ones where you add a point to it. They have medium size that come in a pointed tube already. They have a big size that is round with no point. Use the medium size that has a point. Sometimes it helps to let it sit a minute before use so it is more tacky. I also use tweezers to apply my items.
Very classy and fashionable. You made a simple shirt into extraordinary!
Thanks Rose, I can’t wait to wear it again.
Omg just loving the shirt!!!! The pearls definitely added a fabulous touch! So need to make one
Thanks Courtney.
