Hey Cuties,
I already told you Happy New Year, but now I want to know how did you spend it? I believe in doing whatever you want awake or not. #NoJudgement I am usually on the sofa sometimes I’m awake and other times I am asleep. This year we celebrated early.
On New Year’s Eve, the family and I decided to check out the Free Happy Noon Year’s Eve party at The Yards DC. This event is for the kids and they do a countdown at Noon because most of our kids are sleep before midnight. The event was 10 AM – 1 PM, and we arrived around 11 AM.
Prior to going the only thing, I knew was there would be a balloon drop at noon. I’m happy to say they had other entertainment for the children. This gentleman was from the Big Apple Circus. He did some juggling, some balancing, and a few other tricks. He was funny.
He captured our attention the entire time. Honestly, be brought out the kid in all of us. In the video, you will hear us cheering him on.
The Uncle Devin Show provided musical entertainment. They made it interactive for the kids and even the adults got in on the action. It was a party let me tell you.
In addition to the stage entertainment, they had a photo booth, craft table, and balloon animal station in the tent. They had cornhole and a few other options, but then it started pouring rain.
The line for the face painter was crazy long and not moving. So LittleCuteLips was not able to get her face painted. However, this little cutie pie did.
We even spotted some District MotherHued Moms in the crowd. #DMVMomTribe
It is almost time, they gave out festive hats and other accessories so we could ring it in right. The balloons were a colorful tease until the one-minute countdown to noon began.
And just like that H A P P Y N O O N Y E A R! The kids went crazy, OH MY GOSH!
After the balloon drop, most folks began to clear out. LittleCuteLips and I thought it was a good time to try and get her face painted. No such luck. While in the non-moving line I happened to look up and see the ManChild on stage. The gentlemen from the Big Apple Circus picked him to be his assistant. He was tossing rings and my kid had to catch them on his arms and around his neck. He caught them all, he was a great choice. I snapped pictures from the back of the tent and I caught some pretty dope action if I must say so myself. Thanks, Babe for the new camera lens he got me for Christmas.
We had a good time, rain and all. It was a Happy Noon Year for us.
This was the highlight of our day, five minutes before midnight we gathered in the living room and watched the ball drop. We gave hugs and kisses, shouted Happy New Year and I made the kids go to bed. The end!
How did you ring in the new year? Chat with me in the comments below or FB, IG, and Twitter.
This looks like a great way to bring in the New Year and it doesn’t look as cold. We were home that evening doing something similar but in my house
It wasn’t really cold during the day, but the rain came as we were leaving. I would love to have a house party to ring in the New Year.
We drove to Memphis for NYE while my daughter hung out with my mom the hubby and I went to a house party. I think next year a family trip is in order. Looks like yall had a ball and the kiddos were included which is all the better
We really did, next year I want to host our close friends at our home.
I had a really good New Year’s Eve. My husband, 1-year-old and I went to a friend’s house, talked and played games well into the New Year. The babies slept on mattresses in their guest room. It was the perfect way to celebrate as a family.
Yes, it is nice to have adult fun and know the baby is safe and having fun too.
The New Year’s Eve Celebration looks like it was an incredibly fun experience for families. Many celebrations around the same time don’t welcome kids so this one was definitely a plus.
Yes! This was a great way to celebrate with the little people.
Wow! This looks like so much fun!! I may need to suggest something like this to our city’ planning team for next year!!
Go for it Tiffany, that would be an excellent idea. This was our first time attending but I think every city should do something like this.
That was a beautiful and fun family way to bring in the New Year. I love the balloon drop I bet Little Cup Lips love that.
The balloon drop was cool, it turned the adults into kids for a moment.
Hey Mimi, I swear you are always off having fun at some event! I love it – what a fun way to spend Noon Year’s Eve (never ever heard this before but so clever). Happy 2019! I think I was watching a movie with the fam, this would have been so much better.
Girl, I try to soak up all the free fun in our city. I’m thankful we have so many options. I had never heard of it either, but I love the concept.
Looked like you guys had a great time! I barely made it to midnight, so next year, noon year’s eve might be the move. Guys went to church, the little lady and I stayed home and toasted with cider.
I love that you gals had a moment to yourself. Girl, I was shocked I made it, I slept in the last few.
This looks like an amazing experience, definitely the best way to spend New year’s Eve. I had a great time too, hanging out with my loved ones.
That sounds perfect, celebrate with the ones you love the most.
This looks like a blast! I am so happy that they have family-friendly events in the daytime now. They had something similar in my town 🙂
I love that, it gives you a chance to celebrate with the kids. Especially if you want adults only fun later on.
This looks like it was a lot of fun. I spent my New Years Eve indoors, by the fire with my family. My best friend, husband, and three kids came over at 11:58 PM to ring it in with us. We stayed up until about 3 AM playing games etc. Good times.
That sounds like an amazing way to ring in the new year.
I never heard of this event but it looks like y’all had a blast! I like unconventional celebrations like these.
It was certainly unconventional, but I love the concept.
This is a cool concept and a great idea for the kids. One of the reasons I love DC because of the events they have. I went to church ⛪️ on NYE. Same place every year.
DC does do a great job of keeping the kids busy all year. Growing up I spent all of my NYE in the church as well. Not a bad place to be.
