Hey Cuties,
I am still talking Key West on this #FatSnacks Friday because Key West was so lit. I’ve recapped what we did on our Cousin’s Trip, I shared our incredible dessert experience in Key West and now *drum roll* the incredible hella fat and delicious eats from Key West. Sit back, loosen your buckle, untie the drawstring on those sweat pants and prepare to salivate. You should probably eat while you read so you feel better about what you are going to see. I’m only telling you because I care.
Listen! When I think of vacation I get excited about the destination but I get even more excited about what I’m going to eat at said destination. Key West was no different, you already know there are levels to this #fatsnacks game and I always over deliver. Presented for your drooling pleasure…
We didn’t pre-game any meals in advance. We would see a spot, I would check it out on Yelp and then we’d make a decision. We went with Pinchers because the food looked good and because it was directly across the street from our Drag Show spot. We didn’t want the pressure of having to rush our meal. Shout out to Teresa she was our waitress and she rolled out the red carpet, sounded the trumpets and twerked something. She was the real M.V.P.
When you show up and find out the Sangria is a buy one get one free. Double fist it! This Sangria aint no punk, though. I felt obligated to finish them since they were on the table. You aren’t supposed to waste alcohol.
I had to put in my best work since they served me two at one time. I guess pacing one’s self was not an option. Challenge accepted.
We were good and hungry so we started out with several appetizers. This was the first time I’ve ever had this popular dish and it was yummy. Crab Rangoon: Handmade fried dumplings stuffed with fresh blue crab, cream cheese and green onion, drizzled with our very own Asian sauce and a side of sweet chili for dipping. $9.99
This was my appetizer of choice and it was incredible, it had plenty of crab meat and lots of flavor. Hot Crab & Cheese Dip: It’s cheesy! It’s crabby! It’s a sit spicy! And it’s 100% additive! served with an endless bowl of tortilla chip. Every table needs to start with this! $11.99
This was our favorite appetizer of them all, so much so we went back another day and got more. We tried them this way and fried, these were the better of the two although both were delicious. Pinchers Claws: Fresh blue crab claws sauteed in white wine and garlic butter, then topped with Parmesan cheese or fried to a golden brown. Served with our fresh garlic bread. Bon appetite. $16.99
I was really looking forward to eating at Havana. I’m a sucker for rice and beans, I could seriously eat it every day.
Then I get there and fall in love with the French toast and don’t even get rice and beans. Backstory: The day before we had breakfast at Cracker Barrel and I ordered French toast. When it arrived it was everything but French toast. I said something to the waitress and she told me that is how they make it. LADY, WHERE THE HELL IS THE CINNAMON ON THIS FRENCH TOAST? What they have is fried egg on bread. WTH? Tell people, don’t just spring this bogus French toast on them.
So I needed a do over and boy did I hit the jackpot. This was the best French toast I’ve ever had. French Toast: Made with Cuban Bread served with maple syrup. $9.95
I ordered a side of bacon and eggs to go with my French toast. It was all delicious, so much so I put the bacon I couldn’t finish in my purse. Judge your mother. I also ate it later on that night. Sides: Scrambled eggs with cheese $3.00 & Applewood Bacon $3.50
This was a popular menu item, a couple of my cousins got this one. They loved it. Cuban Mix Sandwich: Pulled pork, Boar’s Head ham, Swiss cheese, caramelized onion, mayo & pickles. $12
This thing right here was flavor on-top of flavor. I don’t know their secret but I need them to share it with me. Pulled Pork Special: Served with black beans, rice, sauteed onion & plantains. $14.95
This was one of their most popular breakfast items and my cousin said it was worth every bite. Lobster Benedict: with potatoes. $15.95
This was a true gem, I’m so glad I found this one. The shop is small but the food will change your freaking life. I was dancing in my seat before my food even came out.
I went for the nachos and my gosh they were some kind of good. You can get a variety of meats but I went for the chicken. Because I’m fat I also had a side of cilantro lime rice. Could I eat all of this? No, but I put up a valiant fight and I was okay with being defeated. Nachos: Chicken topped with cheese, black beans, pico de gallo, corn salsa, sour cream & cilantro. (I declined the jalapenos) $12.00
A few in the grew got tacos, of the three they had some liked a particular one more than the other. Tacos: 3 tacos served with cilantro lime rice and refried or black beans {Chicken, Beef, Carnitas, Fish or Shrimp} $15.00
My cousin went for the burrito, she said it was delicious. It was huge but she straight demolished it. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked incredible. I need one of these closer to me so I can go more often. I would totally break up with Chipotle if Amigos would just have me. Burrito: Fresh flour tortilla stuffed with cilantro lime rice, black beans, cheese and pico de gallo. You can get it with fish, shrimp, chicken or steak inside. $9.00
Caroline’s, Duval Street, Key West
This was another spot that was packed out and everyone said the food was amazing. That means I must experience it for thine self. Off the late night we rolled up into this spot. It did not disappoint. Shrimp Po Boy: Fried shrimp with lettuce, tomato & spicy mayo.
I was determined to get my rice and beans before I went home. I’m a sucker for almost anything jerk. I am anti-plantains so I switched them out for broccoli. I could have easily licked my plate. Kingston Chicken: Bone-in chicken in our spicy jerk marinade served with rice, black beans & fried plantains
Another winner. Caribbean Steak: Grilled, marinated skirt steak served with fried plantains, black beans & rice.
Blackened Chicken Pasta:
Sautéed chicken with blackened spice, bell peppers & penne pasta in a cajun cream sauce
Crab Rangoon is a favorite of mine and it looks amazing. The tacos and the shrimp po boy are making me hungry. Lots of great food options in Key West.
I’m so late to the Crab Rangoon party but I’m totally a fan now.
There are so many crab treats here. Their other food offering also looks special and has a generous serving.
Franc all of our portions were generous and we so appreciate that. We did share a bit so we could all try everything which was nice.
I never had crab rangoon before. It sounds delicious!
Latoya, I hear of it at the Chinese spots.
I can’t tell you how envious of you l am right now. I was all lusting for the crab rangoon, then l saw plantain which is my most favorite food in the world (my actual nickname as a kid). Oh..how l want one of everything so badly, and l just had a good lunch too..seafood risotto ! 🙂
Kem, I always love your comments. Girl this is the power of good food, you certainly had a yummy sounding lunch.
Let me tell you something… you had me with all the crab dishes. Everything looked amazing!!! Immediately seriously hungry right now!
The seafood there is so freaking fresh.
Oh my gosh this looks so good. Tempted to buy a ticket and fly down to the keys because this food looks amazing. I have yet to get down to the keys but when I do I know exactly where I’m going!
It was so good and the prices were right. Nothing broke the bank.
OMG! I had to forcibly close my mouth because I was about to drool all over my desk! I swear half of my plans on vacation are usually food and if I ever go to key west, I’m going to eat ALL OF THIS. lol
You are so my kind of girl Whitney.
All of these dishes look fantastic! I am a sucker for sangria and those crab rangoon look amazing!
Sounds like the perfect night.
I cannot even select just one fat snack that I want to try. They are all looking great.
Hahahahaha
Oh wow, I know I’d have to try the pulled pork special at Havana. The nachos at Amigos looked really good too.
The pulled pork was so flavorful, I wish I could bring some home. Those nachos were the best I’ve ever had.
Every dish you show looks fabulous. I am soo hungry right now !! My husband wants to go to the Keys.
Cynthia, you guys should go. The Keys are beautiful and you can obviously see there is plenty to eat.

That french toast might change your life. I’ve never had that type of bread before but I need more of it.
All of that food looks delicious, but I would be all over that crab dip. I love this stuff. I haven’t gotten to Key West yet, but I am keeping a list of all the places I want to visit when I go. This is on my must visit list.
The crab dip was a hit at the table for sure. As a Maryland resident I was proud that it was so good.
Oh Pam you must.
So many different dishes to try, they all look good, especially those Sangrias.
Sangria is my favorite cocktail of choice.
Looks like you had a great time there! Gosh, how I miss crab Rangoon! We don’t have them here.
I really did Maureen, sounds like you need a special delivery.
It sure looks like you had a good time enjoying the flavors that area has to offer. I would love to go there just to eat my heart out! Sounds like fun!
I had way more fun than most people. lol
These foods all look amazingly delicious Yummy!!!! The pulled pork and the nachos are the two things my mouth waters for indeed. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Rebecca it was amazing.
Everything looked super yummy but it is those pinchers claws that got me salivating!
Girl, they were so good we had some twice.
You are making me too hungry! I love a good sangria so I would have been in heaven with 2 glasses.
The two glasses were really good too.
The ambiance is great. Just looking at the food makes me feel like I’ve gained a couple of extra pounds. I love to eat, but that was whole lot of food. Yummy!!!
Elle it really was and this wasn’t even all of it.
It all looks amazing! Especially that shrimp po boy and the garlic butter crab claws. Glad I had on my moo-moo and was eating dinner when I read this!
Hahahahaha, girl I love me a moo-moo.
Food is an important part of travel for me. In fact there are some places I go just because of the food. I use Yelp to discover new places when I travel as well. Those crab claws looked so good. We recently got a restaurant named Pinchers in my city. I am interested to see if they are the same brand. If so I may have to stop by this weekend.
Oh Tia we would be the fattest traveling partners ever. Oh nice, luck you.
Girl you know how to eat!!! I would love to try some of those pincher claws!
Hahahaha, I totally burst out laughing. It is my favorite sport.
Oh my goodness my mouth is watering. I need you to take me on a food tour of the Keys. So many delicious dishes, I would not know where to go first.
A food tour is in order for sure.
Lawd!! This food looks delicious. You took great photos. i’m craving crab rangoon and nachos right now. I’ve never been to Key West, but may have to plan a trip. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Thanks Ramona.I’m always down for a good plate of nachos.
I live close to Key West, but I’ve never actually gone there! I’m going to have to make the trip over soon, just to try some of this delicious food!
OMG Amanda you need to go girl.
You got me craving for crab!!! I love crab and that crab dip is just calling out my name!
Crabs have a way of making us crave them. lol
