Saving some Boobies!

Everyone loves boobies, we rub boobies in my family and they have saved lives. This weekend my family and I participated in the Race for the Cure. It's our annual tradition; it started as something I did with my Babe and his family because my Mother-in-law is a breast cancer survivor. As of 2012 my mother was officially a breast cancer survivor too. I've blogged about our experience with HERE! Now we do it together with both sides of our family. We walk in honor of our mother's, the many women and men too that are currently battling breast cancer, those that have lost their battle and those that will be diagnosed. A year or so ago Susan G. Komen changed the Breast Cancer walk to the Saturday before Mother's Day. On this day I used to host my annual Tea Party now we do the walk together.

Blogger Week & Race for Hope oh my!

One of my New Year's resolutions was to get out, well a sista has been doing just that. I kicked last Friday off with the Blogger Week Networking Mixer. The event took place in Washington, DC. Blogger Week™ 2014 is a multicultural festival of bloggers, journalists and social media mavens hosted by Black Bloggers Connect I arrived and to my surprise my cousin was also there. hahaha Had no idea. We went in and mixed and mingled. I met some virtual friends in person for the first time and made some new friends. I went in with no expectations but I was pleasantly surprise that everyone was social. They were friendly and they had no issues sparking up some chatter with a stranger. LOVE THAT! Perhaps it's the blogger in us all.
Business

Does your child love the skin they are in?

You ever had an "ah ha moment" (c) Oprah and you get really excited and the wheels in your head rotate at an excessive pace? Well, that happened to me on Friday and I had to blog about it. I think I've found my purpose and I'm ready to share it with the world!

Backstory: My friends and family would always tell me oh you are so good at {insert something here} you should start a business. My reply was two parts, yet the same all the time. "I'm afraid I will no longer enjoy it if I did it for a business." "I have so many passions I don't know how to focus on one".

Is this what camping is like?

I had the bright idea to go camping for Spring Break, sounds good right? Yeah well I've never been camping; I'm not an outdoors kind of gal. I scream at the sight of spiders, ants, bugs, crickets and snakes. I don't know what I was thinking. Either way I booked us a cabin at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park in Luray, VA. I thought I was doing something by getting us a cabin and not using a tent or an RV. Not that we even own either of those things. I looked at the pictures online and the cabin looked pretty good to me.
what is camping like 1a Wait! You mean to tell me there is NO bathroom in this cabin-

Once we arrived I was shocked to see there was no bathroom. We are staying here three nights and there is no bathroom? What do you mean!

Crafty Collaborative Giveaway

Spring is coming spring is coming! On the east coast we've had one snow storm after the another and now we are doing every kind of dance we can to usher in Spring. Good bye snow, salt trucks and icy conditions and hello warm days with light jackets, flowers in bloom and flip flops. Okay flip flops might be too soon but you see where I'm going with this. The one thing we know is everybody loves something free. In this case you could win six something's for free. Even better right? Myself and some awesome crafters and have teamed up for a collaborative giveaway. We are totally giving away all this goodness in the name of spring.

Four years and counting – Blog Anniversary

HAPPY BLOG-VERSARY/BLOGGY BIRTHDAY TO ME!
(Tomorrow actually)
*tosses confetti* Life and Lips turns 4 years old 2/25/2014.
When I started this blog I had no vision in mind, shoot I still don't honestly. I just knew I wanted a place to be Mi. To talk about what I wanted to talk about, to share what I wanted to share and make it look pretty. Well I've accomplished that! I didn't have many followers, didn't know how I would get followers and didn't worry about it honestly. I just knew I was going to post even if I was the only one reading. Some days I still feel like I might be the only one reading. hahahaha

Easy Denim DIY Project

Yall know I love me a DIY and between Facebook and Pinterest I get all kinds of ideas. I'm the girl that is out and about and will see something and quickly say "Oh I can make that". So here is me "making it".

Denim Vest: I found this tutorial HERE but it was super easy to do. I'm not big on measuring, and I don't own the tools she had so I kind of eye ball things and go from there. My tools aren't typical but they get the job done. lol

How long is your parental rope?

Today parenting almost got the best of me, it didn't knock me out but it most certainly knocked me down.
PARENTAL SCORE:       Me: 0     Parenting: 123,456,789
My 9 year old son got in trouble today, I don't mean a little trouble I mean suspended from school trouble. What did he do? He decided to get into a fight with another kid at school. Does he know better? He most certainly does yet here we are. There is nothing more disappointing than a phone call from your child's school. First reaction is panic; you think OMG something happened to my kid is everything okay. Your second reaction is OMG what has my child done now.  Well it all went down something like this.
Love

Our Love Story!

When I was 16 years old I thought I had met my true love. My friends shared this same thinking while in HS and we would plan out our future with our current loves. Well, my mother wasn't exactly buying what I was selling. Was it love? I would say so, but true love it was not. Despite my feelings and my actions my mother would always say "the man that puts you in your place is the man you will fall in love with." As a 16-year-old, I felt my mother was simply trying to play me; she brushed my thoughts and feelings off as if they weren't credible. What did she mean to put me in my place? I didn't get it and she wasn't explaining it to me.
