Hey Cuties,
We are full on spring breakin’ around here. Babe and I took off a few days to have fun with the kid’s staycation style. Six Flags is open for Spring Break, so it was only right that we go have a bit of fun. Before we went they sent us fun Mardi Gras mask and beads; we didn’t even have to flash anyone for them Aye! The Mardi Gras Festival runs March 30th – April 8th, and kicks-off their 20th Anniversary Season. Thanks for the complimentary experience Six Flags.
The weather is fickle this time of year but we lucked up with nice weather. By nice I mean not cold, and no rain; that is a winner for us. The sun made a few appearances and that made the day even better.
We met Tweety Bird, so we had to take a picture. We are festive and ready to ride rides, eat and make new memories. LittleCuteLips did much better, she generally is not a fan of characters in costumes although she knows they are not real.
Babe was in charge of riding all the rides with the kids that spin you around in circles. Because vertigo, this one didn’t seem bad honestly. The next time I will get on.
I love that the ManChild is still a kid at heart. He is such a great big brother to LittleCuteLips, even when she doesn’t make it easy.
It was a Mardi Gras Festival so I had to look the part. Daffy was trying to show me up with his outfit, but I let him live.
We ran into The Style Medic and her boys. So they hopped on the swings with the family and went for a spin.
LittleCuteLips wore her Mardi Gras mask for half of the day.
Six Flags went all the way there with the Mardi Gras theme, they had beignets, PoBoys, Hurricanes and other menu items that are notorious in New Orleans.
A little roller coaster fun, this is about as big as the ManChild will get on.
OH MY GOSH! The little girls face second to the far right was hilarious. Her eyes got big every time they dropped down. The little boy second to the far left screamed, I mean screamed tot he top of his lungs every time it dropped down. The parents and I laughed and laughed and laughed. Kids are hilarious I tell you, just freaking funny.
We have really been working on us; I mentioned our tune-up and us doing the work and seeing results. We have been trying to also enjoy us while enjoying family time with the kids. I like to capture our family, but I also like to capture our growth as much as I capture the kids.
They look so joyful, she is such a Daddy’s Girl.
Funny Story: Babe got on most of the rides as noted above because they spin you around in circles. Some of the rides the kids got on by themselves. As we were getting ready to leave the park we passed this boat ride. Babe asked me if I would get on, I said yes. We all sat down and watched so LittleCuteLips could decide if she wanted to get on. We watched and she was on board so the three of us got on. I instructed babe to snap pictures of our moment. The ride started and we were all laughs. Halfway into the ride LittleCuteLips laughter turned to tears and then terror. She was freaking out. We were towards the back of the boat and when it swings back you almost feel like you are standing up on your feet. I put my arm and leg over her while reassuring her and laughing at the same time. She had a total meltdown but I was so proud of her bravery. I don’t know if she will get back on anytime soon but she is such a courageous six-year old I swear.
After all of that, it was time to head home. We had yet another amazing time at Six Flags. The Spring Break Mardi Gras Festival runs until April 8th.

This is my favorite part of Six Flags. Most people go for the rides, but I go for the all the fun holiday stuff. It’s a blast.
Stacie, I agree. I love the holiday stuff the most.
I didn’t even know this was a thing. It looks like a ton of fun and definitely great for the family!
This was their first time, they are celebrating 20 years in the business.
I’ve never been to the Mardi Gras festival at Six Flags, but I’m sure it’s awesome. It’s been a while since I’ve visited that park, and this post a good reminder to make plans to go back soon.
Yes! The summer months are coming and I love their water rides.
It looks like you guys had tons of fun. I absolutely love Mardis Gras celebrations but have never attended one at a theme/amusement park.
This was my first, but they did a great job.
This looks like a really fun celebration. I haven’t been to a Six Flags in years but I want to go back because I love the roller coasters!
They having added some new roller coasters recently.
You guys looked like you had fun. We haven’t been to Six Flags in years but I think were due for another visit!
For sure we did.
LOL that photo of the girls face is priceless! I had no idea Six Flags held a Mardi Gras festival! Maybe we can hit that up next year! What fun!
OMG! We laughed so hard at her expression. I hadn’t even noticed until another mom mentioned it.
I would love to take my kids to Six Flags! They used to have one in FL when I was younger but after that closed, I haven’t been able to visit one.
Oh no, that sucks. Sounds like you need a road trip.
Hey girl! I love how you incorporate the whole family to include the honey! If only my kids were younger.
Yes, I’m focused on family and us for this year. The kids are growing up and I want to hold on to these moments for as long as I can.
This looks like a lot of fun. We have a local Six Flags. I am going to see if they do this event and if not, ask them why! Looks like fun to me!
Please do, have fun.
I don’t see how you can lose with this post. You combine three of my favorite things, family, Mardi Gras, and Six flags = winning.
Right, I’m in total agreement with you. They are my favorite things for sure.
What a fabulous way to spend spring break. I have never been to 6 flags but it looks like a great time. The Mardi gras event and masks you made look like a hoot.
The masks and the beads were so much fun.
It has been forever since we have been to Six Flags Over Tx. Im sure we will have to make a trip soon because my 6 year old hasn’t ever been.
I had no idea that Six Flags hosted a Mardi Gras event. Ours does Fright Fest in October and Holiday in the Park around the holidays. Not sure if they do other occasion or not.
We had an awesome spring break this year. I made it a point to get the kids off their tablets/game system and prevent them from watching too much TV. My kids enjoyed some fun outdoor spring break activities. I wanted them outside before it gets way too hot.
My 6 year old is finally at a place where she can enjoy the amusement park.
They do all of those, we love Fright Fest and Holiday in the park.
That sounds like a great spring break.
I haven’t been to the Six flags in my area for years. However, I bet I would go if they had a Mardi Gras celebration. This sounds like so much fun. And i’m loving the tweety bird cameo. I’ve always been a fan of tweety
Ha, me too. Growing up Tweety was always my favorite. Oh all the times we have been to this park this was our first spotting.
Wow, such a detailed post that would be so helpful to plan a great trip to Six Flags Mardi Gras Festival. Loving the pictures so much.
Thanks!
We are in NC so right between this one and ATL. My daughter is 6 so its about time we venture into more amusement park fun. I will be holding the bags.lol
Oh yeah Leslie, I enjoyed my years of riding kiddie rides. Now that my 6 year old is getting older she is venturing out of MY comfort zone. lol
That looks like so much fun. I know my family would have a wonderful time there. We’ve always wanted to go to six flags. Hopefully someday we’ll be able to go.
Oh yes, Kathy. Check them out, they are good family fun. We like it best in the summer when the water park is open.
Great photos! I’m scared with big rides because I am afraid of heights. lol! The festival looks amazing and fun!
Thanks, I’m really trying to learn to work my camera.
I am afraid of heights to some degree. I certainly have my limits, but I don’t enjoy the thrill like I did as a child.
It sounds like you and your family had a great time. I love going to Six Flags and riding all the rides.
We really did, Jay. The kids love a good amusement park.
How Fun!!! Poor Little Cute Lips…I think sometimes they believe they can handle it then want to stop mid-way! Glad everything was okay! I love the Mardi Gras theme, that sounds like a lot of fun!
Yes, she had been so brave all day and she thought this one would be a cake walk too.
I always have a blast at Six Flags. They have a ton of fun rides and great staff.
Yes, all these years later we are still trying out new rides.
This looks like SO MUCH FUN!! As if you met Sylvester! LOL! He’s my favourite! You look adorable in these shots and your family is lovely! GAH! I wish we had a Six Flags up here!
Hahahhaa, there is something about an amusement park.
How fun! Not into rides, but I’ve always been a fan of the Looney Tunes characters so it would be fun to have a photo opp with them especially Tweety Bird. 🙂
The Looney Tune characters are so much fun. You would have several photo ops.
Oh man, that looked like so much fun! You guys looked like you were having a blast and weren’t bothered by what seemed like a cold day! I haven’t been to Six Flags in about 10 days but I have been wanting to take my kids and now seeing your trip I am really wanting to go!!!
Plan a trip, you guys will have a good time.
This looks like way too much fun that’s for sure. What a blast!
It was perfect Spring Break fun.
I havent been to Six Flags in years…like maybe 6 or 7 years. This is cute that your Six Flags has a Mardi Gras theme just in time for Spring Break.
Right, this was such a fun theme. You need to grab the nieces and nephews and go have some fun.
That looks so fun! I would definitely celebrate Mardi Gras at six flags! I haven’t been in forever!
You are overdue for a visit.
The pirate ship has always been one of my favorite rides! Hi-five baby girl for me, she is a brave six year old! I know grown people that want nothing to do with that ride! lol
Ha! I can’t wait to tell her.
I like themes at amusement parks (love Christmas time at Disneyland) I haven’t been to Magic Mountain in years but Its one of my favorite amusement parks. Love family time.
Yes! Six Flags does Christmas and it is beautiful.
This is my favorite things about of Six Flags. Most people like it for the rides, but I go for the all the fun seasonal things they offer!
They always have such great seasonal activities too.
