Hey Cuties,
Spring Break wrapped up for us last weekend and we had a good time. It was a staycation with days filled with fun, and laying around and being lazy. It was a perfect balance. Of course, going for a real vacation is the ideal escape but I tried to bring the feeling of being on holiday to my home! I even went as far as looking for spas for sale – oh yeah, I was going all out on the relaxation front!
I kicked off Spring Break with a night out on the town. I hadn’t done that in so long it was fun to meet up with the girls. The weather was nice, and the sun was peaking through my sunroof. You know I had to snap a selfie, plus it seems like I hadn’t put makeup on for weeks.
Pinstripes rolled out their new spring menu and they had some amazing items for us to taste. Of all the things we had, I loved the most creative item on the menu so I’m going to share that one with you.
Okay, read this slowly, I want to make sure you get it. This is called Not Your Mom’s Flatbread House-made flatbread. The dough smothered in chunky peanut butter and raspberry preserves with Fontinella and mozzarella cheese. Baked in
Pinstripes’ wood-burning oven until golden and melted. Topped with fresh arugula, roasted peanuts, slices of Fresno peppers and fresh raspberries.
This might sound crazy, actually, there is no might it sounds crazy. But it was so freaking delicious I swear. It is something you should eat without knowing all the ingredients.
I already gave you a full recap of our Mardi Gras Festival at Six Flags. You can read it.
We had a Lego Family Night, Babe got the kids Lego’s in their “Easter Baskets” and he got one for he and I. Babe is an old school Lego fan from the 80’s and the kids are new school Lego fans. It is cute to see them nerd out about the sets. We have so many, we keep saying no more. Then we buy more…
Cyborg: This was Babe’s he flipped the eyes to match his birthmark.
Wonder Woman: I loved that he picked this one for me.
Easter Bunny: This one was for LittleCuteLips, he was a full on set up.
The Flash: This one was for the ManChild
One day was filled with nothing but appointments. We got up at 7 AM took the kids for to their Well Visit, I like to do it ahead of the school year so we don’t get caught up in the back to school rush. Ortho appointment and all of that, legit non-stop appointments. I had my great niece along for the day, she is 3 years old. She enjoyed hanging but all that walking wore her out. By the time we got back home at 4 PM, she put herself down for a nap. Uncle Babe got her this doll from Target and she loved it.
The 5th USA Science & Engineering Festival Expo came to town so we popped in to check it out. The kids went last year and they had an amazing time. We went on day one and it was so freaking packed.
The kids checked out a few booths but because it was so packed they could not do the “hands-on” activities that they had. This drone was at the DHS, Coast Guard booth. Oddly enough the kids did not seem to be into the government components. I tried to tell them that drones have other uses too, instead of them just being used for government actions. I mean, think how good something like the Mavic Air 2 drone, (that you can view at somewhere like DrDrone), would be for taking aerial photographs as well as capturing some unforgettable memories? I was definitely interested, but I don’t think the kids were as enthusiastic.
I also gave you a full recap of our Two Day Under Armour #HOVR event.
My Cousin Thais came to town for a few days. It was so good to hug her neck, I’ve shared her battle with Pancreatic Cancer and I’m glad she got to do exactly what she wanted. We played several rounds of the game Left Right Center and it was hilarious. We played it at the Cousin Slumber Party, but the rest of the family had never played it before.
I am still snapping pictures and learning my camera. I told you I would and I’m proud to say I’m sticking with it. This is one of my favorite shots of my Uncle. He is my Mom’s only brother, he is still cool as a fan. Hey Uncle!
I swear I love these two. He brought home a ring set with sticker earrings for her. She wanted to put them on him, and he let her. I walked in while she was putting the earrings on. ??? Because you care they were My Little Pony. Shhhh he fell asleep in them too. ? Sometimes our kids just want us to play along. He is a great sport and she enjoyed it. ? I told them we would revisit this picture again on her wedding day.
LittleCuteLips did her first belt exam and she passed. She made gold belt and she was so proud. She said she worked hard for it, and she did. She is not worried about being in her brother’s shoes and I love that. It felt good to cheer her on in such a way. Proud Mom for sure, and her big brother (black belt) was also proud. His approval meant the world to her.
That was our Spring Break is a nutshell. We are in the 4th quarter of Kindergarten and 8th grade; two months to summer break.
1. Your lip stick is cute. 2. That flatbread sound AMAZING. Spring break look so fun especially for a staycation. I love staycations. You do not have to always go somewhere for it to be a good time. Great job mama!!
Thanks, I love Ruby Woo w/ a Nightmoth liner.
I totally agree, there is so much to do in our own backyard.
The whole experience looks wonderful! I’m glad your Spring Break was a success. It looks like everyone had tons of fun!
Thanks, we really did.
Looks like you guys had a great time over your spring break. It’s nice to do a bunch of different things. We are big Six Flags fans – it’s nice that yours are already open for Mardi Gras. Too cold here!
It was crazy good, I never would have thought that I would enjoy something like this.
You had a busy spring. Your baby girl is too cute. I love how she rocks with her dad. So cute.
We did, which is why we need to take a break as well. She is such a Daddy girl, I love that. I never had that chance.
It looks like you had an amazing time! So many incredible memories for you and your family.
We really did, the kids are getting older and that is not lost on me. It makes me savor these moments even more.
Amazing activities on Spring break. I bet it was all fun and the kids love every bit of it.
They did, I love that they don’t need to go away to have a good time.
It sounds like you had an enjoyable spring break! My family and I really didn’t do much except for relax, which was much needed. 🙂
We did. Relaxing is good and there is nothing wrong with that.
I was sold on your spring break with a pb & j pizza, but it all looks like so much fun. Your kids are absolutely adorable, too. I’m loving the My Little Pony earrings.
Ha! Thanks. The My Little Pony earrings moments was so freaking cute.
We had a laid back spring break and enjoyed it as well. I’ve never seen a combination of flavors and textures in a pizza like that Not Your Mom’s Flatbread House-made flatbread, it sure sounds interesting!
Laid back is good sometimes, we all need to recharge sometimes. You should really try out the pizza, it is delicious.
Your makeup is spot on in your selfie pic! Staycations can be so much fun and you’ve proved that with all the fun stuff your family did. I love that you all got together and had a game night. Family time is so important.
Thanks, Alli. Having the family Lego night, let me know we need to do more game nights. We all enjoyed it.
Sounds like you guys had a super fun and productive Spring break! Love that you scheduled a night out for you and your friends, that’s definitely a must! Me time is a great way to show yourself some love and just take the day off. The Legos are super adorable!
I agree Karen, I used to do it a bit more. I forgot how necessary it is to have girl time.
It sounds like you had a fun Spring Break!
I’ll have to check out your Six Flags post. We have one nearby that just started their Mardi Gras celebrations.
Yes, go and have a good time.
I can’t get over that flatbread! It looks so good. Nothing about that description sounded crazy to me. I love peanut butter!
OMG Terri, you would be in total and complete heaven. It was delicious.
Sounds like you have been busy and have fun. I would have to try that flatbread without knowing the ingredients. If I read the ingredients first it probably wouldn’t happen.
I have been busy, really busy. I agree, you need to taste the flatbread first.
I LOVE the shade of lipstick you are wearing. It looks amazing on you! I’ve never heard of the place Pinstripes before but man, those look so delicious. There is a special spot in my heart – I mean stomach for all things flat bread. I’ve never had one with roasted peanuts on it before but I’d love to try!
I think we say the same thing about Legos “No more!” and here we are at Easter or birthdays or whatever and getting more. Thing is though, I’d much rather get Legos then a video game right? But damn my feet in the middle of the night!
Your niece is the absolute sweetest ever. I remember when mine was that little!
Thanks, it is my favorite lipstick ever.
The flatbread was like nothing I’ve ever had before.
I totally agree with you on the Lego’s. They force the kids to use their mind and creativity and that is always welcomed. Ha! They will bring us to our knees if we step on one.
Thanks, I love that she is tiny and fun. I won’t be having anymore so she keeps it exciting for us.
It sounds like you all had a really good spring break! The staycation is something we try to do sometimes for spring break. It just gives you something different and put you in a different mindframe. It is always fun to explore the city you are in!
I totally agree with you. There is still so much to do in our own area that we have never seen or done.
Looks like everyone had a great spring break overall! I would love to check out the USA Science & Engineering Festival Expo–looks like a great time!
The Expo is really cool. They have a ton of hands on exhibits that you get to do. Going on Sunday when they open gives you the best chance to do a lot.
I am so jelly that you had nice weather for your spring break adventures. We’re currently looking at 15 inches of snow outside. Ugh!
OMG! That sucks, so bad. We had 70/80 over the weekend. Now we are back to cold 60s and rain. All of that is still better than snow.
It sounds like your family had a great spring break. We spent the week relaxing and didn’t go anywhere because my husband didn’t schedule time off from work. He did take the little one to the movies one evening and to a baseball game another evening. They had a blast spending time with each other.
It sounds like a great spring break to me.
This looks like such a fun spring break. I love getting appointments out of the way during break because of the flexibility with the kiddos schedule.
It is the best way to do it. No crowded back to school doctors appointment.
Aww congrats to the little one for passing the belt exam! She looks so proud in that picture. We have been having crazy weather during our spring break. Cold one day and hot the next!
Thanks, she is so excited to finally be moving up.
It looks and sounds like that your staycation spring break was a success! I loved the photo with her putting those sticker earrings on him. So sweet!
It was.
It was the sweetest Daddy/Daughter moment ever.
Staycations are some of the best times my family has ever had. You guys look like you had a fantastic time on the variety of things you did. Nice looking bunch
We did, it is nice when you can also enjoy exploring your own backyard. We take the things we have access to for granted all the time.
So heartwarming that your cousin also visited, I can feel that nice big hug from here too. Your spring break quite adventurous especially for the kids- I love that. By the way your makeup in the first pic is flawless and I love your hair!
Yes, it was good to see her out and about.
Thanks, I try to do a little something.
So glad you had a really great time! That flat bread pizza looks delicious too!
It was so delicious.
That flatbread looks delicious. Just makes me want to have a bite..
It is a must try for sure.
Loving the Amor in your familia. How wonderful to care so much for so many, and aren’t they just beautiful! So special when siblings get along. BB2U
Thanks, good or bad love what keeps us together.
Okay, I want to go on Spring Break with you! I had to work all through mine, so my son went to Grandma’s for the week
That doesn’t sound fun for you.
I love how involved he is with the kids, that is a great DAD. Some men live in the home but are still not present in the children’s live. Yeah, I think I would have to taste the flat bread without knowing the ingredients, because it doesn’t sound appetizing. I wish I still had a Spring Break.
He blows my mind all the time; I’m so thankful he has always been 100% hands on.
Spring Break would be so nice for adults.
What a fun week! We stayed around here in Atlanta for our Spring Break too. It was amazing – except for the crowds at the zoo.
I bet, I need to check out the Atlanta Zoo. I’ve done the aquarium but never the zoo.
Sounds like you had a packed Spring! I love it. And that flatbread… oh my does that ever sound delicious!
The flatbread was incredible.
Spring Break snuck up on me this year, however, I was just thinking how I need to start planning ahead and get some things planned for next year!
I kind of felt that way this year too. Last year we took them to New York so I try to balance it out.
that science and engineer event looks like so much fun!! (I’m going to look up an event in my area). I agree with he medical appointments being done on one day back to back. It helps with getting them out the way.
It is a lot of fun, they allow the kids to get hands on.
Yes, I like to get it one and done.
Omg! That photo of your kids with the earrings is too cute! (Probably the reason I wanted to have a boy before having a girl but oh well. Lol) Sounds like you guys had a great spring break! Ours got a bit washed out thanks to the rain. Sigh. Lol Still had fun though.
She turns her Dad into whatever she wants. I love that he goes along with it.
You guys sure did get it in for Spring Break. You all were busy with plenty to do, your kids can never say they are bored with you Mimi, you always have your family covered especially with the events!
I try to occupy their minds in ways they don’t always expect.
