Today is a big day, I’m trying to keep calm. Who am I kidding I can’t keep calm. Click HERE to see my big surprise. One of my favorite brands put a subscription box known as the Stash Box. The inaugural box had an Insecure them, hell yeah I had to get one.
Tees in the Trap is a brand geared towards Pop Culture, and they do it so well. When the box arrived it said Yassss! We Made It Hunny! So what did I do? I yelled out YASSSS as if they could actually hear me. The only thing I knew was the contents of the box were inspired by the hit HBO show INSECURE.
Insecure for the people in the cheap seats:
Modern-day black women are usually portrayed as strong, confident and “flawless.” But Issa and Molly are definitely not “killing it.” These best friends must deal with their own real-life flaws as they attempt to navigate different worlds and cope with an endless series of uncomfortable everyday experiences.
Created by Issa Rae and Larry Wilmore, the comedy series Insecure explores the black female experience. Rae stars as Issa and Yvonne Orji stars as Molly. Over the course of the season, Issa attempts to figure out what she wants out of life and how to take control of it, while fumbling her way through this journey. Molly, a corporate attorney who appears to have everything together professionally, struggles inside as she looks for external ways to fix her life.
I’m a sucker for good packaging and god knows I love a theme. Not only does it give us customers something to get excited about when we receive this amazing delivery, but great packaging is a one-of-a-kind resource that helps businesses to guarantee brand recognition. If I ever had a business of my own, I would take the time to look for custom cardboard boxes, similar to what Stash Box had used, to ship my products to my loyal customers. By personalizing my box, they would know it’s me. As we all know that I love out-of-this-world packaging, I would take the time to make sure that it was done to the best of my ability.
Because Stash Box had done their packaging right, I knew exactly who it was when I collected my parcel. When I opened my Stash Box I was greeted by this polka dot tissue paper and garment care instructions.
Let me break down what was in the box:
1.) Hella Thirsty: Water bottle
2.) Hoetation Survival Kit: More on that below.
3.) We Got Yall Pin: We Got Yall is where Issa works on the show; it is a community outreach program
4.) Kelli’s Jelly Hand Sanitizer: Kelli is one of Issa’s best friends. We meet her in episode 2 of season 1
5.) Secret Black People Meetings Journal: I immediately burst out laughing.
6.) F*ckBoy Repellent Keychain: I know this is a pop culture reference that I don’t exactly get but whateve. I’m sure others love it.Google says it is the type of guy who does things that generally pisses the population of the earth off all the time. Um, what? This sounds like a new word for a douche bag.
7.) The Dunes 709 T-Shirt: The Dunes 709 is where Issa and her TV boyfriend Lawrence reside. It is actually located at 1230 W 29th St, Los Angeles, CA 90007
8.) Broken P*ssy Libido Enhancer Aromatherapy Spray: The name of this spray is based on a rap at the send of episode 1 or season 1.
This was my favorite item, this right here is genius.
Hoetation Survival Kit: Accompanies a walk of shame perfectly. “Hoetation” is what Issa refers to her growing roster of datable men that are potential sex partners. The carrying case is super cute and inside of it is a multi-port USB cord with a wall cube and cigarette lighter adapter, a condom, and a mint.
