Hey Cuties,
Last night I was out here in these streets for the advance screening of WIDOWS! Did you come out too? I gave away twenty admit-two tickets. Next time I should include a meetup.
Anyway, I saw the WIDOWS cast list and I was immediately excited for Viola Dais and Cynthia Erivo. I hardly watch live TV, so I had not seen any commercials, and I intentionally did not watch the trailer I shared with you.
GO SEE THE MOVIE! THIS IS NOT A CHILD-FRIENDLY MOVIE! THE MOVIE IS RATED R FOR A SEASON.
Here are my immediate thoughts without any spoilers:
- I used every emotion while watching this movie. Insert the most commonly used emojis here.
- We talked back to the screen.
- We celebrated the girl power on the screen and verbally chastised them when they were tripping.
- I thought I had things figured out and then boom *plot twist*
- There were things that pissed me off because I know they are real.
- There were things I could relate to.
- You might want to chin check your man just to make sure y’all are good.
- Daniel Kaluuya showed us a different side and MY GOSH he was full on committed to this role.
- One the of the characters I loved to hate won me over.
- I love Belle (Cynthia Erivo) even more, this is her time and she does not disappoint.
- Belle (Cynthia Erivo) had the BEST QUOTEABLES in this movie. Please know that I have added them to my daily repertoire. I will be reading folks with even better class. Ha!
- There is no shortage of action.
- I would so see it again!

This sounds like a whirlwind of a movie. I’ve actually never heard of it. I’ll definitely be checking out the trailer.
It really is but in such a good way.
Well shoot, since you said you would see it again I guess that means I need to check it out. I was kinda on the fence before.
Go see it, you will enjoy it.
I can’t wait to see this one! My husband shot me down when I invited him, talking about that sounds like a girl’s night. I told him it’s bad enough he doesn’t support Shonda. He will support Viola.
Hubby needs to get on board. First off Shonda is amazing and should be supported by everyone. Secondly this is an action movie, there are men in the movie. I’m taking Babe back because he would enjoy it.
Yes! This one is on my must see list. I just love Viola Davis!
You will enjoy it!
I went to a pre-screening in NYC and it was such a hot mess, we didn’t get to see the movie. -_-. I’m glad it was good. I think I will check it out.
Aww, I’m sorry it did not work out. Go see it though, it was good.
I am excited to see this one. Viola Davis is so bomb. I want to see her go off in this film.
Girl, she goes O-F-F too.
My friend really wants to see this on Thanksgiving. Good review I will tell her its worth the watch!
It is a good choice.
Ooooo this sounds like my kind of movie. Will definitely have to try and check it out soon.
I was shocked by all the action.
Now I am even more annoyed that when we went to see it last Thursday that the theater canceled saying the copy they had was not showing properly. Definitely going to see it
It was good girl, I had a good time. With the girls or a boo it is a great movie.
First, give me your boots! I wanted to see WIDOW this past weekend but couldn’t find a show that fit my schedule. Thank you for sharing your review.
Ha! They are cute right, I got them from Zara. It is good girl, find one that works.
I just saw this movie last night! It was really good. I was sitting in my seat celebrating girl power!
Yes, that was the best part about the movie. We can do it on our own, sometimes better than men.
