Xtreme 13: Trapeze School

Xtreme 13 has begun... Our inaugural event was the Trapeze School of New York located in Washington, DC. There isn't much to say other than we had a really good time. The class was 2 hrs long and we did about six jumps and my Babe did one catch. You have to call and schedule your visit and they take you in groups of 10. (You aren't required to have 10 people in YOUR party) They give you a quick verbal lesson and then show you an actual example. The staff instructs you every step of the way so don't worry.

Xtreme 13

My Babe has dubbed 2013 "Xtreme 13" and I'm proud to say I will be a part of that. I started exercising in 2012 and now I'm ready to kick it up several notches   My goal for 2013 is to get fit, I'm kicking the baby off the boob and I'm ready to get all of my body back. I don't want to drop lbs but I do want to make sure my heart is healthy. I would like a flat stomach though; I don't need a 6 pack or anything that is for folks that like to show off. I will continue doing Zumba but I want to try Yoga. I'm just waiting on a good Groupon/Living Social/Google Offer deal. So far we will try hiking in the spring; and indoor scuba diving and the Trapeze school in February. Last year my Babe did a lot of the obstacle course races such as the Warrior Dash, Spartan Race & Tough Mudder. Well this year WE will also do the Run Amuck obstacle race. It is a 3.5 mile competitive time course with obstacles. Yall did see the WE in there right? I'm so not speaking French right now.

Nori’s 1st Bee Day

Three months prior to LittleCuteLips birthday I began shopping around my creative ideas for a birthday party theme.  The only thing I knew was that I wanted a DIY (do it yourself) type of thing.  After a lot of Google searching I decided to go with a "Bee Day" theme.  I began creating an idea folder of all kinds of things I wanted to have/use/create to make this party a hit for my baby girls first birthday celebration.I really wish I had done a better job at snapping pictures. I was trying to live for the moment and didn't quite capture things the way I would have liked. Oh well!
With that said here we go...

2012 is now in the Rear View

2012 was another good year in the books for me. This was a huge year of change for me and I wouldn't find out just how much until later in the year. Going from a parent of one to a parent of two is a big difference. One that you can't actually prepare for you just have to experience. With that being said it has been a joy watching our family dynamic change and even more fun having a baby in our home after seven years. That really is a long time. January 12th: I/us/we/me welcomed Nori Michelle into this crazy world at 5:10AM. She is the proud little sister to Big Brother Nasir. Our family is officially complete as a party of four.

Tis the Season …

The holiday season is upon us and I am most excited about it. I've been preparing for several months now and it is almost here. Having children has breathed new life into the holidays for me. Although my 8 year old son is officially a non-believer and that hurt my heart he still enjoys Christmas. Last year I convinced him to still believe after some dumb kid told him Santa was a fraud; this year no such luck. Yes I want him to believe that a big fat white man in a red suit smokes a pipe, rides on reindeer's and comes down a chimney we don’t have to deliver his gifts I spend my hard earned money on. SO!

Mi’s Workout Plan Vol: I

I recently got a Physical as I was long past due. Good news, I checked out pretty healthy however I was told (and already knew) I need to exercise. I am what they call "Skinny Fat". This was not news to me as I've always held down my inner fat girl. I had already decided it was time to shed this "belly fat" so this was right on time.

DIY Costume: Owl

Hey Cuties,

This year I was really excited about Halloween a little more than usual. I now have "Costume Power" again. My son has been selecting his own costume for years now. I can't pick out little cute costumes that I love for him. That aint cool! Now that I have a little one I get "Costume Power" for at least the next 3 years. EXCITED!!!!

Fall is Here: Montpelier Farms

Even though the temperature outside reads 80 degrees it still feels. In years past the family would go to Cox Farm in Virginia for a little fall fun. This year I made huge plans to go to this really nice Farm in VA with my girlfriend, her children, my children and my nieces. It was going to be a good time. Unfortunately, we weren't able to do that because my son has had a lapse in behavior judgment. Second grade is so stressful... Since I'd invited my nieces we had to do something. So I opted to go to a local farm; I'd heard about here in MD.  The farm was just okay; it is very small and doesn't have a lot going on. The other farm we are familiar with was huge with a lot going on. Since my son had gotten in trouble in school it was just what the doctor ordered. He should thank his cousins honestly. Either way, I wanted the kids to have a good time and I believe they did. This was Nori's first time going to a farm of any kind so it had to be special.
Travel/Adventure

Mi’s Trip to the Gun Range

With an infant at home, Babe and I have been doing "Day Dates". We've done several activities outside of my box and today was no different. Today's adventure took us to the Gun Range compliments of Groupon. We headed down to our local Gun Range (Maryland Small Arms, Upper Marlboro, MD) for a little bit of fun. We arrived and first you pick out your gun, we went with a Glock 17 9mm handgun then lady behind the counter gave me a tutorial on how to put the bullets in the clip, put the clip in the gun, how to cock the gun back, and how to pull the trigger. They make all of this look real easy in the movies, not so much in real life.
