Guys and Dolls Vintage Pop Up Shop Recap
Hey Cuties,
On Saturday I hung out with some really dope vendors. Guys and Dolls moving and shaking in the fashion industry. They are taking you back and making you current all at the same time. Calling all thrift-ers, fashionistas, fashion lovers and vintage dreamers.
I told yall about my top after wearing it to a wedding. I couldn’t wait to wear it separately.
The Dj straight killed it, I need to get his name. He played current music, old school, way back and he totally set the tone of the event. I was singing and dancing the entire time. I love me a good jam.
Be Spoke Not Broke: This dope vendor got into the vintage game after dropping 50 lbs. He had to get a new wardrobe and then people began to ask him where he got his clothes from. After people asked several times he made it a thing and Be Spoke Not Broke was born.
Be Spoke Not Broke was the only male vendor and he held his own with these dope threads.
Designer Cynthia the owner of 3Shades Chic she got started by creating one-of-a-kind pieces using a variety of quality gemstones. She had some dope jewels on display. You need some accessories to set off your vintage fashion.
Kurated by Kizzy Evae is a collection of historical content using fashion as a medium. I don’t know if the dress she was wearing is vintage or not but it was so freaking cute. She had clothes and shoes honey. I love that she had a mirror, a lot of other vendors didn’t have a mirror. We want to see if our look is cute before we make a purchase.
Her lamp was so cute; it totally gave me a vintage feel. After the event I found out we are in some of the same networking groups. I had no idea, I look forward to hooking up with her.
Terminology is owned by Ms. Latasha Carter, she birthed this business out of the desire to merge love of fashion and trend-transient styling that inspired individuality.
Terminology had a really dope set up, this U.S. Army bag was so freaking cute.
Attending this event hipped me to the vintage, thrifting game. I didn’t thing I knew much about it but the truth is I used to do it when I was in High School on a different level. Fun Fact I used to do Beauty Pageants as a teen and my dresses and interview suits was high end thrift finds. My Mom and I would spend our Saturday morning in some of our favorite thrift shops and estate sales.
The Keepers Shop had me with this dress form. It is so cute; it is so me. I want one so bad, but I have to wait for my dream closet.
I had a game plan before I stepped into the building because I already knew that they were going to come for my coins. I’m a sucker for a handbag of any kind. I don’t mind spending a lot for my muffler either; they last forever.
See, this tall tan tote right here was begging me to take her picture. So I agreed and took her picture, but then she wanted me to try her on. I was like look lady I can’t even temp myself in that manner. So I just slowly backed away.
I met the dope ladies of KoutureLippies and UniqueLocJewels at the Love the Hair You Wear event. It was nice to see them again so soon, this is how you build your network. It just happens, the ladies remembered me as well and we chatted a bit.
Carpe Luxe was also at the Love the Hair You Wear event. I love that she and the ladies above decided to collaborate for this event. That is business done smart. I loved this denim purse she had, I made one when I was a teen and seeing this took me back. The fury cell phone cases were hilariously cute.
How cute is this telephone purse from Carpe Luxe? This is so my style.
Kenny Kas designs custom clothing for men and women. He is all about individual style, he has been in the fashion game solidly for many years now. He was the MC of the event.
The talented make-up artist and esthetician The Only 1 Image was beating faces on the spot. She was up their changing lives. If you needed your browns done she could hook you up and send you on your cute little way.
A big shout out to Instant Vintage 78 for putting on their third annual Guys and Dolls Vintage Pop Up Shop event.

Yes Tammilee, a DJ can make or break an event.
This looks like a cute little event. I love your top. It looks like the MUA was doing her thing, but is that hair weave glue on her station?
She was Kim, hahahahaha I am cracking up laughing at you.
They really had some beautiful pieces there! It’s awesome that they had a good DJ to set the mood for the event!
They did Liz and I liked that. Although they all had pieces you had a variety.
I saw some cute purses in there that I would have like to have gotten my hands on. That’s my thing: purses. I will buy one, use it for about two weeks, then put it away and buy another one. I have a pretty good collection as you could imagine.
Dawn, yes. They had some true keepers. You sound like my kind of gal.

Kathleen they totally had some treasures in there.
There are a lot of great shops here and it’s nice that they try their best to make their own unique pieces. I enjoyed reading how each brand originated and it’s always inspiring!

Wish I was there, wish I was there! I’m with you on the studded purse and I really like that cell phone case. I wish we had more events like this in my area (Bay area, California) because now I either need to travel or move- lol!
Demetria, I would love a partner in crime too. I go out to events by myself a lot of times. You need to travel girl, when are you East Coasting?

Christina this would have been perfect for you.
That would be a really cool place for me to go! I am not a shopper, however I appreciate unique experiences like this one. I really liked the “arm chic” term 🙂 and the Keeper’s Shop looked really neat. This was interesting Mimi, liked much!
Martine this was a unique experience, I like the way you put it. Right, I could totally get into the “arm chic” term.
First of all, lemme get your whole entire outfit, please and thank you! I keep saying I’m gonna start going to the thrift store. I’ve gone a few times but I don’t think I have enough patience. This event looks like a perfect opportunity to thrift shop and not necessarily be overwhelmed.
