Who Made Charlamagne Tha God a New York Times Bestseller?

Hey Cuties,

Last week I had the pleasure of attending New York Times Best Seller, Charlamagne Tha God’s book signing event. This was the DC leg of his book tour at The Capitale.  I wanted to attend for a variety of reasons. I’m a Breakfast Club Fan, he is very controversial and CNN Political Commentator and NPR Political Analyst, Angela Rye was doing the chat with him. Yes, yes and more yes.

Charlamagne Tha God—the self-proclaimed “Prince of Pissing People Off,” co-host of Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club, and “hip-hop’s Howard Stern”—shares his unlikely success story as well as how embracing one’s truths is a fundamental key to success and happiness.

Each attendee with a ticket received an autograph copy of Charlamagne’s book.

This book discussion was entertaining and inspiring. It changed the way I looked at him a bit. I can’t wait to start reading his book.

Angela Rye & Charlamagne

Before I get all into this, let’s chat about Angela Rye for a minute shall we? Yes, we shall. Angela Rye is an Attorney and a Political Strategist. This sister is killing the game in the most respectable ways and is still down. There aren’t a lot of young black women in politics but Angela is holding her own, kicking butt and taking names while paving the way for other black women.  She was the perfect person to pair with Charlamagne.

Swag

Can’t leave without a goodie bag, it include the book. Capital City Mambo Sauce (mild & spicy) and Miss Jessie’s product samples. I started using these products way back in 2006 when I went back to my natural hair. Mambo Sauce is a DC thing, I can’t explain it is but it is amazing. It is usually put on fried chicken but we also love it on salmon. This is a staple in our home so I was really excited about this.

  8. That is quite interesting that he goes out of his way to try to piss people off. Sometimes, depending on how it’s done, it’s not a bad thing to get angry about stuff because I think then the air it’s cleaned out and we know where somebody else stands. It can make people closer in the end.

    1. Jeanette, I feel you. It most certainly is a middle of the road type of person to be. At any moment you cross the line to the point of no return.

  9. Hmmm I have no idea who we are talking about here. Am I living under a rock? lol I’ll keep my eye out for your thoughts on the book though!

  10. I am not a fan of his, he always comes off as intentionally provocative and a s*it stirrer without the substance to back it up…. I do LOVE Angela Rye though and if she was willing to partner with him makes me think there may be more to the man.

    1. Lia that is an excellent observation. She doesn’t take any type of mess. She is able to see in him what a lot of us can’t. That is why I really want to read the book.

  20. sometimes the way to truly FEEL heard is to say it in a way that pisses people off! It gets a reaction out of people which causes the word to spread all over and gets everyone to talk about tough issues. I bet everyone that has read this post is intrigued and will most likely take a look at this book ; )

  21. I honestly was not sure who this was when I read this. This does sound like a good book though. Sad to see many not liking him, but I can’t say anything as I didn’t even know who he is.
