Hello 35, pleased to meet you!

I turn 35 this week {10.18.} and my brain has been in overload; I have a terrible habit of adding unnecessary pressure on myself and turning 35 has only made it worse.

I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting on where I am in life, if I’m happy or just content. What are the unhappy areas in my life and how will I change them? Have I accomplished enough in life? Is this the career I want for myself? Am I living the best me? I totally sound like Oprah. lol The questions go on and on but I always come back to what is my purpose? God created all of this {insert body roll here} but what is my mission in life? What was I put on this green earth to do? I have no clue, and I’m not sure how to go about finding out yet I’m stressing over not knowing.

I sit back and think about my life; and all that I have and haven’t accomplished. The odds certainly weren’t in my favor but I’m here and I’m doing it. I made it in-spite of being raised in a single parent household. I have a father that decided he would live his life rather than be involved in mine. His loss. I’ve never been to college but I’ve made this High School diploma do the most. I got married at the age of 18 and was divorced at 22.  Everyone didn’t always like me but there are plenty that love me.  Did I mention my mother battled breast cancer and is now a survivor.

I have no plans of writing a book but I know I have a page turner on my hands.  When I think about how much I’ve accomplished, and how far I’ve come it makes me smile. Society would have told me I would be on welfare, I wouldn’t be a homeowner, I wouldn’t have a good job, I wouldn’t own my own business, I wouldn’t be this, I wouldn’t be that. I just couldn’t, I wouldn’t and I won’t. I’ve birthed two healthy and beautiful babies. I broke the mold and nursed both of them for 14 months each. {Golden Boobies} I’ve had the best love by my side for the past ten and a half years and counting.

There isn’t anything traditional about me or my life but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Good or bad it all made me the woman that I am today.  You can’t judge a book by its cover is indeed true. But beyond the cover to just flip through the pages of life and see what someone’s life has been like.  I’m proud to say at 35 I have lived, I have experienced, I have accomplished so much and I have so much more to accomplish.

Yes!!! All of this. Maybe it is something about 35 that evokes introspection. I turned 35 in March and have been battling these thoughts since then and I don’t feel I’m a bit closer to the answer which really makes me think I know the answer I’m just scared to do the work….that’s real talk and a little fear!!

You look amazing. Loving the photos in the header. Cheers to 35 and many more accomplishments for you and your family!

    Happy Birthday

Mimi maybe it is 35, maybe its our name. I don’t know, but I find comfort in knowing I’m not the only one.

If you know the answer, jump into the work with both feet. 😉

Happy birthday Mimi! Great and inspiring life story, thank you for sharing! Sometime we have to sit back and pat ourselves on the shoulder for all the great things we’ve accomplished despite all the odds. You are an amazing person, I love visiting your blog and the stories you share. Have a great week Mimi!

Thanks Glamista, you’re right. It’s so easy for us to pat others on the back. When it comes to ourselves not so much. I need to appreciate myself a little more. Thanks for visiting.

Happt Birthday Honey!!! I totally love your post! I’m just like you! I’ve asked myself those questions on every birthday since I turned 30 ( I turned 34, Oct.3rd) and this time around, I just let it be! I’m grateful for the everyday breath, and all the little things that actually add up:-). You don’t look 35 by the way and you are a beautiful lady! Love your blog and your blog’s name :-)! Very inspiring post!
