Did you see Layana Aguilar on Project Runway? Now she is at Fashion Week
Happy Hump Day Cuties! After having Monday off my days are all mixed up. Ā Although my allergies are on a thousand and I’m currently a mouth breather the show must go own. I shared the Jimmy Burner show and he was dope. Now I want to show you the Layana Aguilar Show, if you are a fan of Project Runway then you’ve heard of her. Season 11 anyone?
Each show has a different vibe and that is the fun thing for me. I never know if it is a classic show or a youthful show or we are just having a stone cold good time and you are going to look at these clothes. The show was at The Stuart Hotel and there was a lot going on; the Westminster Dog show was in town and dogs were all over the place.
I wanted to be comfy but cute, at New York Fashion Week you see people in a variety of attire. Ā I went for a middle of the road, plus it was freezing cold and hella windy outside. Ā The Look:Ā Top: Target $23, Pants: Old Navy $7 & Shoes: Black Wedge Lace Up by Kork-Ease from Nordstrom
I love to see what people wear, and well…
The theme of the show was “Free Creatures” Layana Aguilar was inspired by reading bedtime stories to her son. She was fascinated by the freedom and serenity of insects and the extreme length that they go through every day. They are fragile on the inside but strong on the outside, these creatures are essentially wearing armor, not unlike the armor that women put on every day to conquer the world.
The essence of butterflies, Picasso bugs and other insects are portrayed through fabric manipulation and a color palette of dark and light hues interspersed with a touch of hologram, pumpkin, rose gold, copper, gold and silver.
I enjoyed the show, the energy was good. Layana fused in technology with some of the girls walking the runway with cameras. Ā She even came out with a camera herself, that is a great way to give the folks at home a chance to see things from a different perspective. They get to be there without actually being there.

Looks like people watching is almost as fun as the fashion show. I love looking at all the different outfits and the theme of the show is pretty cool too.

There is some interesting fashion there and not only on the runway! Those glasses (sunglasses??) look like they are form Back to the Future! Looks like a fun show to go to! I am glad you enjoyed it!
I’m unsure if they are sunglasses or not Jeanette. They are very Back to the Future though, that was my first thought as well.

I watched the clip and I was just so star struck the designs and are original.
Miranda, it is inspiring. You see these designers on TV and week after week they are working towards their dreams.
Then the show ends and they end up on the runway.

A very, shall we say, open fashion show. Whew, I wouldn’t ever wear any of those but fashion shows are definitely interesting!
Tatanisha, the fun part is you never know what is going to come down the runway. It keeps us on our toes.

These are some fun looks. I like the yellow furry coat and how the looks are based on “free creatures.”

I think fashion week is always fun to see what designers are coming out with. It is always fun to see how the designs transfer over into everyday realistic wear.

There is always something interesting to see even in the people attending fashion shows. Street style is in full effect.

Yeah, it only works on a particular body frame. You can’t have much party going on at the top. lol How to get on the list is quite an anomaly, honestly I’m still trying to figure it out myself.

I have always wanted to attend a fashion show at NY’s fashion week. Layan’s designs are very interesting and creative, not sure I’d wear them though. Do love that jacket.
