8 Technology Tips That Will Make You A Boss At Diner En Blanc

Hey Cuties,

Babe and I are still on this date night roll although the kids are back we are still having fun without them. First Marlon Wayans, then LOL Comedy Honors in New York, and now our annual date at Diner En Blanc.  We look forward to going every year and it never gets old.  DEB 2015 was our first time and we were just trying to figure it out. DEB 2016 I had our packing down to a science. Now we are going to talk tech requirements.

Tech Tip #1 Cell Phone: Bring your cell phone to capture the event and make sure it is charged all the way up before you leave home.

Tech Tip #2 Selfie Stick: I know they seem so five years ago, but they are still helpful. In this case, the selfie stick is helpful to capture the crowd shots. Hold it up in the air and snap your heart out.

They had free face painting.

Tech Tip #3 Portable Battery Charger: You will take so many pictures and video that your battery may die quicker than usual. You can keep your picture taking, Snap Chat sharing and all of that going if you have a portable battery to charge your phone back up.

The grub, Babe baked chicken breast and we paired it with a salad.

Tech Tip #4 The Money Shots: There are a lot of magical moments that will take place during the event. However, there are two in particular that are the absolute most magical. For that reason, you need to capture them. 1. The waving of the dinner napkins {Video Mark: 02:18} 2. The lighting of the sparklers.  {Video Mark: 02:41}

I told you it is magical.

Tech Tip #5 Take Video: Photos are great, but they don’t always fully capture the moment. Switch to video to capture the true essence of the event.

You will run into old friends and make new friends. This is Babe’s BFF from Elementary school and his wife.

Tech Tip #6 The Location: Every year we are some place new. This year we took over Pennsylvania Avenue with the United States Capitol as our backdrop. We had to capture that in our pictures. In years past we’ve always been in the park. This year they shut the streets down for us.

Tech Tip #7 Camera Settings: Play around with your camera settings to capture your image best. The picture above was taken on my iPhone 7 Plus portrait setting. It is my absolute favorite setting to use.

Another year in the books.

Tech Tip #8 Back Drops:  Take advantage of the props they have and or the natural props. They make for great photo opportunities. This fountain was a beauty at night with the lights.  Us and everyone else was snapping it up.

I’ve linked my DEB tech items in my Amazon Shop! I hope this makes it easier.

They had chalk for us to write on the street. We totally acted like kids and the street was covered.

  1. I love your pics. I am always curious about diner de blanc. Do you really have to bring all of your stuff, i.e. tables, chairs, etc? It looks like so much fun but also like a great deal of work.

  2. Oh wow! That’s so nice! I absolutely love DEB. I went to the Toronto version and it was stellar. Seeing all the fashionistas in white was incredible. Nordstrom brought in a huge white birdcage with a flower-adorned swing. Great for instagram! LOL! And they gave us sparklers and lanterns to light up for the big finale. AMAZING.

  3. You take the best pics! I love that you and Reau make this a date night every year. The food looked delicious and I LOVE that they have other activities. Your face paint was cute! Reau needs some kicks to match yours (wink wink).

  13. This would be a great experience. Haven’t been to one but it sure looks like a lot of fun! I don’t leave home without a portable charger and/or a spare battery pack. Not with all the photo opportunities!

  14. Your pictures are beautiful. I love a selfie stick most people don’t but it comes in handy in certain situations. I agree know your camera setting. Sadly I don’t know mine. I am always afraid of playing around with them and messing something up. I really need to sit down and go through my book along with my camera. I am horrible at night photos and yours are perfect.

  15. Wow I love all of the white. This sounds like an interesting adventure. I’ve never had to bring all of my items before but I think I’d enjoy it. I just bought a new portable charger to help me get through this hurricane hopefully.
