New York Sights: High Line Park

Hey Cuties,

I hope you enjoyed the weekend, mine was really low key. Babe has been on a boy-cation so it was just the kids and I. I shared their foolishness on social media; because sibling rivalry never takes days off. I shared my dope eats from NY but I wanted to give you a taste of the non-eating things we also did. Make no mistake; eating is always a large part of any trip.

My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard…

Our first stop was over to Black Tap, an image came across my Instagram timeline and I had to jam on it. Details on this Cookie Shake from heaven HERE.

Nudity you say?

After consuming all of the calories from that shake, burger and fries we had to walk it off. We checked out High Line Park. It is such a dope piece of landscape in the air. High Line: Is a 1.45-mile long park built in Manhattan on an elevated section of what used to be a New York Central Railroad area called the West Side Line. High Line was redesigned and planted as an aerial green-way park. They also allow you to go bucket naked apparently. I didn’t see any or I would have totally taken a picture.

Kiah, enjoying her time with the big girls.

Our Girl’s vacations are typically for adults only; but we made an exception this time. We brought along my cousins daughter, she had no idea how much we really turn up outside of family functions. Yeah, well she knows now. She is 17 now and as she embarks on vacations with the girls she now has a template. You can’t tell in this picture but she is standing in water. There is like a little water run off that is just enough to put your feet in. You may randomly see a half-naked toddler as well but usually just feet.

Ummmm

I’m sure there is a great back story to this statue but we didn’t know it at the time. All I knew was he was in his drawls, in public, looking creepy. After some research {because you wanted to know} I now have answers. According to the New York Times this is Tony Matelli’s underwear-clad sculpture of a sleepwalking man. This naked man came to High Line Park as part of the show “Wanderlust,” that opened up last month.

Hey!

There isn’t a bad spot in the park; one side gives you a nice city view (and some of the best Manhattan neighborhoods one could ever live in) and the other gives you a view of the Hudson. It’s no wonder this area attracts so much interest in real estate!

Nari Ward Smart Tree

Artist Nari Ward makes sculptural installations from materials he collects in his own neighborhoods. This piece was inspired by a visit to his home town of Jamaica. More on this piece HERE.

Group Show before we leave the park {Mi, Faye, Kiah & Ty}

You all see my cousins on the blog all the time. They are usually in all of my Girl Trip recaps; Faye went with me to the SOAR Retreat in Miami. Ty was recently cheering me on at the Runway Moms Event. They are my ride or die, I’ve known them all of my life. We went from being little girls to being grown women. They are like my sisters.

We finished our night off with pizza and cocktails.

Marriott Marquis, Time Square

We kicked off day two with a selfie, because necessary. We got more grub and then walked it off with a little bit of shopping.

You already know how I felt when I saw this inside of Macy’s Herald Square. Yes, the famed Macy’s flagship store on 34th Street is undergoing a $400 Million renovation project. Let that number sink in for a minute. This Macy’s has nine floors, NINE HUGE FLOORS of shopping. These lips can be found in the “basement” also known as the One Below. They are trying to attract millennials and make things more modern.

Oh shoot, we messed around and caught our reflection

Uniqlo is one of my favorite stores to visit when I’m in New York. Uniqlo is a Japanese store that makes trendy, moderately priced and casual clothing. I’m so excited that one of their stores is coming to the DC area this summer; Tyson’s Corner specifically.

An ode to New York City

This was built into a wall at a sneaker store. I thought it was really dope; it encompasses so many New York things.

Jump Man, Jump Man, Jump Man

This dope display was also in the same sneaker store. For those in the cheap seats #23 was Michael Jordan’s number. This is made out of a bunch of gold jump men; that is the logo for the Air Jordan sneaker collection.
