Six Flags Floorless Roller Coaster FIREBIRD

Hey Cuties,

I had the thrill of a lifetime last week at Six Flags [Maryland]. I’ve been to Six Flags plenty of times, but this time felt like my first time all over again. Six Flags debuted their first Floorless Roller Coaster appropriately titled FIREBIRD. This floorless roller coaster is the only one in the state of Maryland.

I always enjoy the Press Days with Six Flags, they push me beyond my comfort zone. I started working with them in 2016 and they jumped me into the club real quick by putting me on the Superman Ride of Steel Virtual Reality Coaster. They strapped VR Goggles to my face and I could only see what was on the screen. Not what was actually happening in real life. I also had NOT been on a coaster in 15 years. You can laugh all about it HERE.

They followed up my fear by opening up a new Wonder Woman ride, and that one is not a coaster but it still triggered my anxiety. Are you noticing a pattern here? Six Flags calls, I answer and I say yes to whatever. You saw my Freight Fest freak out too. Today was no different.

FIREBIRD is an epic thrill ride that will take thrill-seekers through incredible twists, drops and inversions, all while seated in state-of-the-art floorless trains.  Y’all, they mean every last word of that and I had epic nervousness.  Good News: I did it, I got on the ride, not ONCE, but TWICE! Where is my mofo prize? Reward me, crown me, praise me. I DID IT! Put a gold start on my reward chart as you do with toddlers. I was on GREEN today.

Fun Fact: The Firebird replaced the Apocalypse which was a stand-up roller coaster.

Because I love you and Six Flags has no chill they recorded my ride experience. I present to you without additional commentary, my ride LIVE and in LIVING COLOR. You are welcome for this gut-busting laughter. You owe me!

Beside me on the ride is my Boo The Style Medic, on the other side is my new friend Elizabeth. Elizabeth is a very PROUD member of the American Coaster Enthusiasts, [ACE]. Did you even know that was a thing? I did not. They are 6,000 members of strong, they run the gamut of ages and backgrounds. If you are a coaster lover these are your people. I had to interview her because I had questions.

Founded in 1978, American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE) is a non-profit organization of more than 5,500 members from 16 countries.

ACE is the world’s largest ride enthusiast organization. Among its members are the most educated, dedicated, and passionate amusement park guests. ACE’s activities are extensive and include award-winning publications, action-packed events, and exhaustive preservation efforts. ACE is highly visible in the mainstream media. Local television stations and newspapers often consider ACE events in their area to be major news items. ACE members are frequently on hand for the debut of major new roller coasters at amusement and theme parks. In addition, numerous shows made for television networks such as The Discovery Channel have prominently featured ACE. Ultimately, ACE’s mission is to promote and enjoy roller coasters everywhere, regardless of type or size.

During our press day, the ACE members were seat fillers. *pause for reaction* they rode the coaster over and over and over again. Yes, this little girl is a member and I was impressed, I need to be her when I grow up.
