Galentine’s Day Mommy & Me Edition
My Bestie and I took over the Fox 5 studio for another Galentine’s Day segment. Last year we shared some ideas for the ladies, this year we did a Mommy & Me edition for your little rich or broke bestie. My daughter is a girlie girl and loves hanging out with me and spending my money. She was for sure the inspiration for our segment. Here is the video recap version.
Here are a few tips to start:
– Find an activity that requires you to step into her world or something you BOTH like to do.
– Don’t be so rigid with the activity schedule, let your daughter pick the activities
– Great time for you or BOTH of you to try something new
– Be ready to step outside of your box
– Other ideas, Girl’s Day Out, Movie Night In, Mommy & Me slumber party
We love a good DIY so here are a few ideas for some DIY fun for Galentine’s Day.
My daughter is the typical 12-year-old and she makes a ton of friendship bracelets and has at least four on every day to coordinate with her outfits. This time I joined in on the fun and she enjoyed sharing something she loves with me.
We love a good snack so we continued the friendship bracelet theme onto our snacks. You can do this one of two ways, make your donuts (we did not), or buy them. We used a sauce brush and rubbed the honey around the donut in a circle. Then grabbed Smarties candy to mimic the letter beads and wrote on them with an edible pen. Stick them to the honey and then add on your festive sprinkles.
I am currently obsessed with these iron-on Chenille patches. You can find them at your craft stores or on Amazon, they come in all fonts, colors, and sizes. Some patches are peel-and-stick and you iron them on to secure them. We went for a stronger approach and peeled them off and secured them with E6000 glue. You can put these on anything. We got these cropped sweatshirts from Target but you can get them from anywhere or jazz up one you already own.
Galentine’s Day isn’t official without a cocktail. So, you can have your wine if you want but my daughter loves a good mocktail. You can use Sparking Juice and add in a scoop of Sherbert. It’s my favorite way to have wine. You can also drop in cotton candy for a fizzy experience.
If you like more of a spa type of vibe then we got you. If you’re down for making lip balm you will need beeswax, cocoa butter, and a little container to store it in. You can jazz up the container with a sticker on top.
Calling all bubble bath lovers, these DIY bath bombs are just what you need. You can make them from scratch or you can purchase a kit and get all of the ingredients at once. Add in some oils to get your scent just right.
To complete your spa experience you need a sugar scrub situation. The Style Medic has all the deets you need to make your own.
Natasha Graziano was in the studio and joined us for our segment. I wasn’t familiar with her but she had really good energy and she was funny. I hear she is a motivational speaker and is into manifesting the desires of your heart.
Erro aka Eric Roberson was also in stuido. His voice is amazing if you’ve never heard him sing before you are doing yourself a disservice. He gave us a word and we’re going to make good on it. Stay tuned for that.
We ran into Joey De La Rosa who plays with the Harlem Globetrotters. He has such a cool personality and he is from the Bronx like T and I are. Also, he is 6’11 and I’m 5’5 I’m used to feeling short but he made me feel extremely short. He had been with the Globetrotters for three years now and he had all the tricks. The studio was filled with amazing guests and it was cool to chat it up with all of them.
