Did You Know the Gospel World Gave St. Jude a Unique Gift of Life?

Hey Cuties,

I hope you remembered to spring forward Saturday night.  Are you like many others struggling to adjust? I had an amazing time hanging out with the folks from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on Thursday. St. Jude and Radio One music stations took over the airways for the annual St. Jude Radiothon. If you heard it on your radio then you know what I’m talking about. If you didn’t, don’t worry I’m going to fill you in. If you want to donate you can still call 1-800-411-9898.

This was my first year participating and out of the gate I wasn’t exactly sure what I was signing up for but either way, I was all in. I struggled with what to wear because that is always my dilemma. I settled on something that was middle of the road but comfortable. As it turns out it was perfect. Grabbed my usual muffin and tea and got on the road. I turned to Praise 104.1 so I could listen to the radiothon while I drove.  That radiothon started at 6 AM with Gospel Artist Erica Campbell of Mary Mary and her radio show.

This room was a constant revolving door. This is where the action took place. It was loud, it was quiet, it was love, it was support it was competition it was breakfast, it was lunch and it was networking. It was all of the things. However the energy was always good. We could also see a tally of how much money we raised.

St. Jude Partners in Hope T-shirt

The goal was to sign up as many St. Jude Partners in Hope, to be a partner you commit to donating $20 a month for a year. When you become a partner you received this dope shirt. They also offered a variety of incentives around the hour that you would get in addition to this t-shirt.

Gospel Artist: Robert E. Person @RobertEPerson & Stephen Hurd @StephenHurd

OH MY GOSH! Gospel artists Robert E. Person and Stephen Hurd were so freaking hilarious. Robert was answering calls and Stephen was talking to the people in the background. One caller recognized his voice and said they attend his church. hahahahha When Stephen Hurd started answering the phone he had a British accent, he is NOT British. hahahha It was great to see some of Gospels most amazing artist in here supporting a worthy cause but also having an amazing time.

St. Jude patients never receive a bill when they come for treatment. Some patients are there for a really long time. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital focuses on taking care of your kids and easing your burden. You don’t pay for food, lodging or medical expenses. LISTEN!!!!! As a parent your job is to simply focus on your child and they take care of everything else.

Autrotrader is a proud Sponsor

It takes a village to keep this well-oiled St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital machine going. Autotrader is a member of that village; they were on hand lending their support.

Thanks for supporting St. Jude, I’m MimiCuteLips and I will be helping you today.

I was on the phone-lines talking to the donors. It was nice to hear them share their story, they were eager to give their credit card numbers honey. These folks were genuine; I had a lady tell me to hurry up because she had a meeting to attend. I loved that she wanted to make sure she made her donation before her meeting. I made it as quick as possible.

Mi & Gospel Artist Jeremiah Hicks @JeremiahHicks

Jeremiah Hicks and I were sitting next to one another answering calls and chatting.

DJ Soul @DJSoul73, Kassidy & Mi taking calls

DJ Soul was a nervous mess, I laughed the entire time. He would panic every time the phone rang, but he would answer it and handle the call and then panic when he hung up. HILARITY! Our seats were revolving doors so we all answered the phones and then someone in would swap us out and we would take a break and they would answer calls. I was a natural.

Gospel Artists: Vashawn Mitchell @Vashawn Mitchell & Stephen Hurd @StephenHurd

Post interview pictures, Vashawn Mitchell sings Nobody Greater and that is one of my favorite gospel jams. My Stephen Hurd jam is Revelations v1 (Hallelujah, Salvation & Glory)

TV Host & Pop Culture Commentator Jawn Murray

Jawn Murry is one of my new favorite people. I’ve seen him at events, I’ve seen him on TV but this was the first time I had a chance to get to know him. He is my spirit animal. I will work with him again, hear that Universe?

St. Jude Radiothon
Mi & Charles Butler

Gospel Artist Charles Butler rolled up his sleeves and got to work after our interview.  He and Jawn Murray cut up so bad; it was nice to see the brotherhood the artists have with one another.
